Well it looks nice and the animation looks sharp/clean. I can't say that I'm hyped but I'll probably watch it. I guess they are really trying to get a younger audience with the last movie and now this show. Maybe they should just have two ongoing series with younger characters like maybe a kid goten and trunks series and one with the parents. It shouldn't be too difficult to write a typical storyline using the naive country kid and the rich smart-ass kid getting into trouble but with super saiyans.

It's safe to assume Toriyama wants to dethrone GT as the worst Dragon Ball adaptation.

There's no way in hell this is an untold story that he wanted to do.

It's just a money and audience grabber for kids.

You read my post, but you're continuing to repeat something I already addressed and you just don't want to respond to it because you can't, as I predicted you would.

No, not at all, you pretend as if your point was never addressed and so keep repeating yourself. If someone challenges what you say, someone who isn't doing mental gymnastics wouldn't ignore it and just repeat themselves. You're saying it's not a cash grab, a cash grab would be continuing Super, I've very directly addressed that, and you know it. I asked you two questions you refuse to answer, why is that?: "Where did I suggest "they won't continue super"? Did I not explain how this route they're taking is more lazy and greedy?".

Since you read posts blind folded to your convinience, maybe you can read your own shit:

If there's nothing wrong you, you're clearly a troll, and you won't be getting any more of my time.
You: This is a cash grab and stupid.
Me: I thought so too at first, but on second thought, they could make more way money doing other things, so not really. Im not fully sold on the premise but I'll give it a shot thanks to the creator being fully involved.
You: You are a shill, blindfolds!!!

Your posts are dumb.
Easy miss. GT tried this and it ultimately was crap, aside from a few fights and SSJ4.
Toriyama wasn't involved in GT, so it sucked.

The last thing Toriyama was fully involved with, other than Super Hero, was DB Broly 2018 - Which was fucking godly.

The man took the Broly character, which he had no involvement in originally and made Broly 2018.

Perhaps we should give him the benefit of the doubt that he can do the same with the GT concept.

This video is a great explanation as to why Daima is being released and why Super has not been renewed yet, and also an explanation behind the business side of Shueisha, Toei, management and how Daima came to be.

So the lore change for the namekians, making them actually demons again is pretty cool, it loops back and is almost an inverted goku is an alien reveal.
Making buu the reason again for the potara fusion splitting is fine, just means there's still a time limit for "mortals", but that buu split vegetto before the time limit was reached, however it does retcon the fact that they used the dragon balls to wish kibito kai to become unfused in super.

Overall I'm intrigued and this could be a fun little adventure without galaxy busting aliens flying around.

I did not like the first episode. Having it revert to pre-Super in the timeline sucks. More evil Supreme Kais suck. And the premise of Dragon Ball but babies sucks too. It sucked in GT, and it sucks here too. Dragon Ball's strength was that the characters aged, grew and matured. They got married, had kids. Their kids grew up and had kids. Now we're just stuck in this weird Post-Buu status quo. I would have rather had the Moro / Granolah arcs than this.

That said, it does LOOK nice. Very well animated. Shame Super didn't have this budget.

Episode 1 is beautiful.

Weekly DragonBall is back, what a damn time to be alive.
Well said.

An Akira Toriyama-produced Dragon Ball anime is being aired weekly again, Hunter x Hunter has returned to serialization for the foreseeable future, and more Berserk chapters are about to drop. These are good times indeed!

I don't like the flip flop reason of Kibito Kai unfusing. Really contradict everything they showed in DB Super and it is hard to ignore, but perhaps the show writers split them for the storytelling in future episodes here. Maybe they fuse back again in the end

Now it retroactively make more sense that Piccolo Daimao could be calling himself a daimao, because he was from the demon realm who have more traces of his demonic side

It was pretty good. I also think it's another test run of if a fully CGI show will work for the next Super series, and it does look great. You could basically forget it was CGI unlike earlier efforts. Sidesteps a lot of the industry crunch that led to bad schedules or bad animation of some other shows (I really wish WIT Studio was able to finish Attack on Titan, with the time and budget to do so, maybe ending in 3 movies like Demon Slayer is)

I'll try it this weekend. Can't write it off right away and I like de-powering everyone.

I do wish they would do a reboot with a later generation of his family. Maybe make Saiyans more a mystery again. The original dragon ball run with Goku training and exploring the weird version of Earth Toriyama created gets under rated in the US.

Its a fantastic setting instead of space with its mix of technology and nonsense races. Plus learning ki, how to fly, flying nimbus, martial arts tournament, etc.

I liked the side characters not being under-powered and the possibility of threats on Earth. Its been too much of "new transformations" and finding new threats in time, space, outer dimensions.

Yeah, I loved Z growing up, that's what showed on TV in the US when I was a kid. But as I've gotten older, it's gotten harder to sit through. I don't think I could do a full rewatch anymore tbh.

However, I've grown to really love the original DB a whole lot more. It's not just the Goku show with mindless fighting. Every character plays an integral role, and Goku is rarely the strongest. There's adventure and charm that Z just doesn't have, and there are very few actual fights in the show. Most fights are just gags, with a single "true" fight built up towards the end of an arc (Jackie Chun, Tien, King Piccolo, and Piccolo Jr.) so it feels earned.

Plus I love the raunchy humor. Roshi shrinking himself for a chance to get pissed on by Launch? That was outrageous.

The last Broly movie was a love letter to animation

The show does look good, but I hope we still get those anime drawn movies as specials

The show does not just "look good" it looks utterly fantastic. It's like they somehow managed to get it to actually look like traditional cel painted anime from years past on top of the well done animation.

Oh I agree, I'm not saying anything bad about it, it looks great

But I do hope we still get that hand drawn anime style in movies/specials like Broly occasionally

Tambourine hunting down and killing all the martial arts tournament competitors we had met over all of the show was peak DB.

Yah GT is still worse than Super.
And Daima is starting off pretty well so far. Love how there's no wasted moment in the first 2 episodes.

Wow how did they release this, looks like those fan made videos.
Animation is hard and time consuming, so that's what happens when you don't give the animators enough time, and it happens a lot, even attack on titan aired some literally unfinished episodes. DBZ has ton of terrible looking shots too because of this, the most infamous one being "super vegeta", and it's not even some zoomed in in-between shot either.

They do tend to improve them for home releases though.

"Super is way better"

Animation and art style was Super's shortfall for sure, the series did get a quality boost when better animators joined for the TOP arc, the standout being Yuya Takahashi, his episodes always looked soo damn good and represented how Super should've looked all the time.

He also did the Vegeta vs Broly sections of DBS Broly

This is miles better than Super so far. Everything’s on point. Good art and animation, direction, pacing. Strange watching Dragon Ball that isn't horribly botched in some way.

It feels like a reinvigoration. Like this is a little adventure Toriyama really wanted to take everyone on. Makes me sad that he won't be around to see it through.

Show's slowly ramping up with the various lore added to the demon realm. You can really sense they are placing the importance on storytelling. There's no super saiyan transformation in the last 3 episodes at all.
