17 has presumably been training since the Cell embarrassment. I don't think Piccolo took training seriously until Frieza / losing U6 tournament.

Piccolo is as much a warrior as Goku. Which is why he told Goku he was looking forward to it and Goku knew he could be honest with him about the tournament repercussions because he knew they are of like mind.

He couldn't even land a hit on Tagoma. Piccolo was pure shit until very recently.

I give Goten the Ghost Kamikaze attackx , but I honestly don't like anything else about Gotenks. He's unfunny, unlikable, arrogant, makes shit attacks, and he is just a worthless character in every sense.

Different strokes for different folks.

Don't see how people can complain when Supreme Kai exists and is the most useless.

I'm going to start HxH over the summer.

Kind of tempted to rewatch the Dark Tournament of YYH.

Want to start One Piece again and commit, but not sure on that yet.

Lucky you! What I'd give to watch HxH with fresh eyes . . . It's the best shonen series ever made IMO.

One Piece is also excellent, but I can understand any hesitation with that series. The amount of chapters/episodes is pretty intimidating now!

Edit: I'm all about SSJ3 Gotenks. Don't really care for the kids much individually.

88 wasn't the final nail in the coffin for that line of thought?
what if he surpasses Goku by getting rid of the bang.

He was still in ultimate while eating after the battle, so it could just be like the Buu Saga all over again, where it stayed on forever once he transformed once.

Edit: I meant before that new picture.

Why are they all flying during training for the tournament? Aren't the rules that there is no flying allowed? Why train attacks from above if you can't use them in the tournament?

Last time I saw Piccolo and 17 they were evenly matched. Piccolo took years to get stronger than a rusty SS2 gohan who didn't do any sort of powering up in those years. 17 if we are to believe in those same years became stronger than a constantly training super saiyan 3 goku at the beginning of Super who during Super increased his base power training with Whis. By this logic all this time 17 has been stronger than Goku and Vegeta by a huge margin. You don't see a difference in that.

I mean, has there ever been a stated reason why Androids couldn't become as strong as gods? We've never seen an android train. Is there any reason to assume 17 would advance at roughly the same rate as a Saiyan or Namekian?

Like I said, it doesn't appear to follow any consistent pattern of logic, and I'm find with that if it means previously useless characters can more time in the spotlight.

Why is 17's powerup disliked? Wasn't he stronger then Frieza from the get go?

From what I can tell from what I've heard online and offline - and bear in mind it's subjective territory:

1. Goku has had special methods of training, whereas we don't know what means 17 had of training, and have no reason to assume that they're special.

2. Android 17 never really shone out in Z; he came across as a minor villain, so it's weird that he's on the top tier now.

3. The Freeza powerup is more believable because he probably has more resources available, and even then, not everyone finds that believable either.

Goku's special training with Whis is really mundane. Most of it is just sparring with Vegeta and Whis.

Like it really matters

I think it's you can't fly when you're out of the stage, to fly back in, but inside the ring it's allowed. Could be wrong.

During Whis senior explanation it was shown that it was only elimination when the mini goku left the stage in the animation
But then in episode 84 Goku told Krillin there was no flying and the producer who was also the one that expanded Toriyama's outline for this arc said no flying.

If you don't get it I don't know what to tell you.

I think if he lost it in the first place we knew it was a transformation. It probably has other rules compared to SS transformations though. Like he can stay that way as if it was a new base.

If Flying isn't allowed then what the hell are Jiren and Goku doing in the OP? Surely not "gliding along the surface of the arena"?

There's actually no flying? Wow, I just thought I had remembered that wrong. That detail hasn't been brought up since they first learned about the rules right?

I always thought that the no flying rule was for the void itself, excluding the arena? So you could just fly back in, but you could fly while fighting in the arena.

Gohan surpassing everyone with minimal effort would be one of the few things power level wise in Super that makes sense as he's always the one constantly improving exponentially compared to everyone else so I fully support SSJ Green

edit: Or Gohan accidentally kills Goku and Beerus's dream of Goku dying was real!

Pretty sure 17 was the "main villain" for a short while.

On the way to the tournament, Gohan trips and breaks his leg.

No time to grow senzu beans.

Yamcha replaces him, and it's revealed he's actually a saiyan as well.
