Dub episode 17 was great. Goku kept popping in next to Whis saying "Are you done yet?" while he was trying to cook his food and the last time Goku popped in he said "you know you can save time if you eat it raw n_n"

What did Whis mean when he said "I was just thinking it was about time to train you" anyway? Bulma asked Whis about it and he said "is that what I said? I don't remember". I assume it just means Vegeta is around SSG level now but I don't understand why why Whis would care to avoid the subject with Bulma.

As much as I'd kinda want to see Planet Vegeta restored along with everyone who died with the Super Dragon Balls, there's not really anyone around who would logically make such a wish seeing as neither Vegeta or Goku give a shit.

Oh yeah another character who doesn't care if the universe gets destroyed, what's with these people man.......

Goku been going around bribing ppl with money, I think the only person he's been upfront about it was 17.

I wouldn't say 0. They've been bringing back stuff from the past like the Mafuba, if Bardock were to appear in Super I really wish it was well done and for a great reason. It'd be nice to see Goku meet him.

What's more shocking Goku been dead a few times and has never bothered to go see Gohan.

It's Gohan day in Japan!

Around this time tomorrow (or earlier) is when we should get whatever they are planning for Goku day, assuming they have something planned.

My boy Gohan about to surpass that stupid blue-haired Goku, I could cry. Bring on the next episode!

Nah

Gohan will make Tien look strong, gonna get with the Square beam and be unable to move

Well, the magazine scan mentioned Tenshinhan using tricky techniques in the upcoming episode. So, hopefully they won't jump straight to Kikoho spam again. Especially after he basically got to do nothing battle-wise in this episode since the paralyzing attack instantly took him out.

Come to think of it, how in the hell hasn't at least Krillin picking up that paralyzing attack by now after all that has gone on? Surely would've came in handy a great many times since the DB days---to say nothing of how it could surely be scaled up same as the kamehameha has enjoyed all the while...

I wonder if Goku gets himself eliminated in the tournament just to give Gohan a chance to save the day again.

It'll be like Cell/Buu all over again.

So everybody was "training secretly" ??

Kind of the status quo in DB.
Krillin wasn't really secret, since we knew he had resolve to get stronger.

Tien always trained in secret.

Roshi is the surprising one, since he quit being a fighter after dying by King Piccolo. Though he was in shape in RoF, so it can be argued he started training after Buu arc maybe, or after Beerus anyway. Maybe keeping up with Frieza's men gave him a morale booster.

Gohan we knew trained with Piccolo, though not to any strenuous degree.

Piccolo was kind of surprising but not really. He seemed to stop training after the Cell saga, but being weaker than Frieza had to have been a wakeup call, with the lost to Frost not helping, and he said as much in the episode where Gohan got mystic.I guess his real training you could argue was secret.

18 probably hasn't done much training, but she should still be in shape. 17's training wasn't really in secret since he didn't associate with the rest of the cast, and should have been obvious after his lost to Cell.

I'd say only Roshi and Piccolo trained in secret, to the point where it's surprising they got stronger.

I mean, I just assumed all Piccolo does is train when he's not babysitting for Gohan and Videl. I mean, he reached ssj2 levels of power and that's pretty good considering how few people we've seen at that level. Maybe he's just got shitty gains.

Will Vegeta get a power up soon?

Changing diapers takes a lot of strength. He'll get a power up from that.

Yeah, but after Buu I still think he hit a wall where he stopped training

All of their training will be for naught anyway when Jiren blows them all out of the ring simultaneously with one flex of his bulging biceps

Roshi training in secret actually was used once before in the original DB to explain his power in the 22nd Budokai. Kuririn also mentioned that he was going to train with him for the Androids, although most people ignore that since there's a filler scene afterwards where Roshi refuses and in the manga it's just never mentioned again.

I wouldn't even call it that, it's great for building context and allowing for some much needed character moments. It's the stupid 48hr time limit that's ruining everything that makes all of their mental and physical development suspect, even for dragonball.

Yeah. It's just kinda better than nothing at this point.

I'd rather they show clips of them training, or how far they've come. It doesn't help that the whole 17 thing happened. Gohan was handled the best imo. They've been actively showing him training.

A call back to Roshi saying he was training for the androids isn't enough to justify the leap that he's at right now, but at least they are stating that he did train or something.

It's all rushed but hopefully the payoff will be great. Hopefully.

I wonder if we're ever going to find out how Roshi got to be like that. I mean, he used to be worthy of the Nimbus, so what happened since he climbed Korin's tower?

It's so weird how he can be all for justice and protecting the weak, and just being... you know, good, while at the same time be the kind of pervert he is.

Krillin only saw that attack being used once, takes more than that to be able to learn such an attack, plus at the time when he saw it he couldn't even use the kamehameha, the first time he used the kamehameha was during the 2nd tournament he participated at.

I wish we did get a special with Roshi in his story prior to DB, but I feel like we have enough info from DB to speculate so it'd probably be pointless.

Did Krillin see Roshi do the paralyze attack? I thought it was Chun who used it?

when he climbed the tower, Korin told him there was no super water and laughed in face for climbing it like a dumbass and chasing him around for 3 years, it broke him.

Master Roshi was beyond horrible.
That was so freaking uncomfortable to watch.
It never felt this creepy before.

Yeah. This along with Tien completely fucking jobbing makes me hope FUNimation just acts like it never happened and put the relevant footage pertaining Tien and Roshi being recruited into a recap or somethin'. Ugh. This show makes me cringe on the regular.

Roshi stated in the 21st that it's far too deadly and much more powerful than the Kame Hame Ha, so he rarely uses it. Also, remember, back when Krillin and Goku saw it, they thought it was Jackie Chun who did the move. Maybe if they had figured that he was Roshi all along, they would've pestered him about his ultimate forbidden technique.

But he got Kinton from Korin, and could fly it and at the time was worthy of it.

Or maybe Kinton just didn't care back then. Korin does state that everyone on Earth used to be able to fly on them.

SSBlue makes me want blue Gatorade or starburst.

And the Roshi things going to keep coming back up for a couple days I guess.

It'd be funny if Goku sees a Jackie Chun move, pauses in the middle of the fight, as asks Roshi about it, then gets punched by someone from another universe.

I know Roshi was punished for it, but I still will never understand how this is creepier than begging someone to take a shower, spying on them, and still getting excited when she goes to the bathroom instead. And the implications if Roshi didn't get punished, was him using that shrinking technology for the rest of DB/ DBZ/ Super, but it got destroyed when he got flushed.

Didn't Roshi get blood on people in DB? How is that not creepy?

I know it's Toei trying to censor things a little more, but I like the steam better than blood. We know what it implies, and the blood coming out always felt disgusting.

Yeah, but with all The Perils since then, and Krillin specifically spending more time solo training with Roshi than anybody else in the cast---you'd think he would've at least broached the subject in terms of "Hey, there's this other thing you might want to go ahead and learn, what with imminent doom and all afoot..".

Though I guess it could also be another of those wasted cases like where most of the main cast trained with King Kai but never really did anything with it.

I feel that the entire twin universe concept that was brought into Super was just an excuse to introduce more Saiyans. I doubt we will see twins of other races in this next arc. That's why Beerus/Champa are the only two GoD's that are actually twins.
