Then Goku uses the Mafuba and fucks everything up.
What if Goku creates a Genkai Dama, and Piccolo, Roshi and Tien throw people into it using the Mafuba?

If anything I'm happy the arc didn't reveal all of its cards from the beginning. Super can get pretty predictable sometimes, so I appreciate what they're doing with things like Caulifla/Kali and now

I liked the latest episode, lots of color and Goku didn't go blue with Roshi. It was awkward seeing pervert Roshi back in full glory, though. I think they should limit that stuff to just an old man who likes erotic magazines.

Frieza coming back. I think they're planning some kind of sub-plot with him and the female saiyans. Maybe he is the usual asshole to them and causes their super saiyan transformation.
It makes the marketing more confusing though.
This arc would have been leagues better if we didn't know the team until Goku went to recruit them.
How cool would it have been if the first time we heard about 18, Roshi, and 17 joining was from Mr. Satan and Gohan. This last thing makes it even more confusing why they pushed the 10 warriors so hard. Just reveal Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta are on it, and then piece the rest together episode by episode.

even with just the NEPs we would be getting way more surprises in the show
following the manga week to week mostly blind must have been way more of a rollercoaster

They probably wanted to feature them in the anime opening since it's completely focused on the tournament. Buu, who ended up being a fake out, only appeared in it for group shots with the full cast, and when
Freeza joins he can just take over that position and maybe get a new scene too, like how the previous opening added extra scenes for the Revival F and Universe 6 arcs.

That makes me think...
Toei made this tournament like this just so they could make a game that's basically Smash Bros with Dragon Ball characters, didn't they? Eh, probably not, since Toriyama and Toyotaro supposedly have a big hand in it, but... yes, that game is probably already in development.

OP probably will, ED probably won't since we'll be getting a brand new one shortly after Freeza's reintroduction, so they'll just put him in that one.

are not changing, but I think there's also a reason behind this that will have a lasting impact.
Promises to wish Frieza back, after the tournament he can keep his body while dead, so Goku teleport him onto King Kai's planet, while he's waiting he lives on the planet with King Kai, so now when Goku forgets to wish people back it's both King Kai and Freiza, and we get those 2 throwing banter around every now and then.

It lines up with a Heroes mission and Heroes always gets Toei original stuff late.
Maybe this will just be what actually forces Goku to tell the truth about the tournament to all the participants (
the others wondering why Goku wants to bring Frieza to what's supposedly just a "friendly" tournament

Usually the Super missions don't stray too far.
For a guy whose story has been wrapped up way more times than needed, and way more narrative chances than has been needed with no character arc---I hope they progress Freeza some how. Maybe balk at Frost for not being overt in his desires. Maybe see the selflessness in Vegeta for putting others before himself. Maybe appreciate Goku for forgiving him and giving him a chance to test himself against other universes he didn't know existed. Appreciate the androids for their engineering. Anything but the Goku hate-boner that's floated his character for 25 years.
