I decided to start watching Super now that
Lord Frieza might return.
I'm even willing to stomach Goku's Japanese voice, if only because the Dub will take forever to catch up and I don't want to miss this.

you will soon accept the japanese voice is better don't worry

Well
Lets be honest Freeza isn't much stronger. He beat a super weak Gohan, then absolutely got curb stomped by the SSB's like it was a game. Freeza only trained to beat the Super Saiyan class not the God class. I'd say Freeza isn't that much stronger than SS3. Taking into account that Gohan's SS2 in the Cell Saga was fairly close of Goku's SS3, Cell shouldnt be far off.

At the time, his golden form was bit stronger than Goku's SSB. Probably not even close now since Goku's gone way beyond that level of strength since then. Frieza fucked up by rushing off to fight goku the second he obtained it rather than perfecting it as it drained too much of his energy to maintain it. Frieza lost twice for the same exact reason, the first time is excused considering no beings existed in U7 at the time other than buu and divine beings could have even pushed him to 100% let alone his final form.

Watch battle of gods, resurrection F, and start Super at episode 28. First 27 are retelling of the movies with some extras.

If you're just planning to catch up to the current arc, I recommend skipping the extras entirely and start at 28.

If that day ever comes, it will only be because I'm in such deep self loathing that I can enjoy trash.

That is exactly what I'm doing. I watched the movies prior to that.

I'd agree with you. Goku and King Kai in particular are just the worst in the Japanese cast. The others aren't too bad. I kind of like Beerus and Whis more than the US cast voices.

I hated it at first, but it's definitely grown on me. Think it is a voice were it's really jarring at first, when you're not use to it, especially for Goku who has such a different take with the dub.

I like the dub more but I've grown more appreciation for the Japanese voice.

Looking for SSJ 2 pics had me stumble on a few pics that encapsulate the Dragon Ball universe at its lowest point (IMO)

We have come a long way

I agree with you. I look at it like game of thrones where the TV show and book deviate but the creator still has his finger prints on both.

I read that author gave an outline to the ending of the book in case something happens to him so Games of Thrones can finished the story, officially making it 'canon' to the books.

I fully agree but I'm afraid the writing inconsistencies are going to hurt the diversity in the long run :/ .

I see what you mean. I wonder why power level frustration hits DB so much harder than a lot of other notable shonen. I know One Piece, Naruto and some of the others do have holes in power level discussions but nothing like Dragon Ball. Which is frustrating. I wonder if there is any fixing for the predicament the DB universe sort of has on its hands.

Just hopped back into Super, watching the latest Roshi episode. I recall him being a pervert, but when did the dude become a straight up rapist? Also Goku just ignoring that shit was something else, that sick fuck.

Edit WHAT THE FUUUUUUCCCKKK
Is Freiza really coming back and replacing Buu?

since Dragonball

All those pics tells me is they took out two characters that never got a chance to do much of anything
Xp
Kids Trunks and Future Trunks deserved better than this.

Goku was written pretty terribly last episode, hamming up the sexually inexperienced Goku, even though that wasn't his character in Z.
Unless Goku was wanting too much sex from Chichi, and she used a DB wish to make Goku forget what sex is.

Eh, I think Roshi has done worse in Dragon Ball. There shouldn't have been any touching, that seemed very un Master Roshi.

Those pictures are like DB series going through some adolescence stage. Look at those spikey yellow saiyan hair everywhere. Fortunately they have tamed down in DBS.

We'll look at those series all of them have some form of
Dragon balls ki, one piece has haki and naruto has chakra. They also have different techniques that come into play more than dragon ball utilizes. You can be strong as hell in one piece but if someone has a devil fruit to counter that or figures out the weakness of your devil fruit you're screwed and no one blinks an eye because it makes sense. Naruto has different jutsus that are used and planning and technique was the name of the game(well for part one naruto at least)

And before certain ppl jump down my throat I'm not saying db doesn't use techniques at all it's just less so

All they had to do was gather the team, send them to Whis' dimension, just say the god world boosted them.

There, the power levels were blurred, without any issue.

The problem is that in OP and Naruto, the characters were powerful thanks to techniques, some due to raw powers and abilities, but it was never a flat out "welp I'm 8 billion times stronger and your attacks have no effect on me". Unless it's a big boss, and even then.
Some characters were better at fighting other characters, based on their skills.

In DB, it's about who can hit the hardest, with the strongest guy trivializing completely the other members. So it's a good thing they're back tracking, but the way they are handling it is super cringe.

I just came to accept the fact power levels have no meaning in DB. It's so inconsistent at this point that I'm just turning my brain off and enjoying it for what it is. My guilty pleasure for anime.

I don't think Whis would care enough to train them. I don't even know what the training they would give would be. I guess the heavy weighted clothing he has could be useful, but most of his training seems to be specifically around controlling god ki.

He always was like that, but usually he got immediately punished for it, unlike here.

It was about controlling ki in general. That training when Goku and Vegeta were leaking ki while sparring didn't involve any god ki, but that control seems to be related to obtaining it, although they avoided going into details because this seems to be a Toei-only idea, not from Toriyama's outline. So, they seem to avoid going in depth about it because it could clash with future stories.

I'm much more interested in the other universes at this point. I wouldn't mind a spin off series set in universe 6 or 11.

Which happened when he threw Goku and Vegeta in his dimension where they needed perfect control.

Also they could have had Beerus ask him to do it. Hell what the fuck is Beerus doing, he is taking naps while all this is happening...

beerus has no patience for training others, tho

I was going to wait for the latin american dub since it's what I grew with, but with this arc things are getting way too good to just sit on the sidelines. I was going to read spoilers anyway so I might as well watch.

Did Frieza know of Babidi or Dabra?
Maybe, he does mention knowing Buu from his father, I assume it's possible King Cold is familiar with them.

Interestingly if King Cold did know of Dabura he didn't warn Freiza about him, implying Freiza could defeat Debura. All speculation.

We have come a long way

Android/Cell saga was fine, the characters played a role which was believable enough. Piccolo received a fight, Tien played somewhat of a role holding Cell down, Yamcha found the androids (lol) and helped transport Goku around, and Krillin went with Gohan/Trunks.

I prefer that over everyone being as strong as Goku by training for a day or off of poachers. :C

He knew about Majin Buu, so he should know about Babidi. He doesn't seem to know about Dabura though, considering how he said the only ones he shouldn't fight are Majin Buu and Beerus.

A Majin Frieza would have been pretty dope. I think that was in Boudkai 2, but that game had a shit story mode.

In regards to dubs, I've watched it in English and Spanish if I had to rank it:

1a) JPN
1b) SPN
2) ENG

English is way too hammy when it comes to superman Goku and vegeta sounds horrible... No cha la la is blasphemous yet again SF2 the movie changed the ost with that metal bs but I gotta give credit to localization for realizing what westerners want (BF ost is garbage but it appeals)

King Cold knowing someone who has destroyed countless planets, something that's counterproductive to what he's doing, is more important to him presumably than knowing Dabura and Babidi. He probably knew of Dabura, but didn't know he was taken over by Babidi, so best case scenario the demon king had disappeared.

From what Supreme Kai said, it sounded like he recently found out Bibidi had a son, so I'm assuming that might not have been common knowledge for King Cold/ Frieza. Then again Shin is incompetent, so maybe he was the last one to know about Babidi.

just how old were king cold and freeza

The only time superman Goku was done was in the original DBZ dub. Not really that way in Kai or Super. More like the original. Sean has adapted pretty well imho to the more goofy Goku.

I believe "being erased" might provide enough motivation.

But what do I know.

Beerus is a lazy, selfish cat first and foremost. Which is why he wants to spend his 'final days' eating good food. Which is why the idea that he would train anyone was laughable. The guy couldn't even be bothered to pick his own team.

Even then, 'Superman' Goku was tone down by the Cell Saga and all but gone by the Buu Saga. Goku only went full Superman mode in the Frieza Saga and his reason for sparing Vegeta. And Sean's Goku has always been good at goofy Goku. I remember Japanese sub fans actually complaining that the dub made Goku dumber than his Japanese counterpart because he sounded too 'carefree and happy'.
