To be fair Kale fucked Blue Goku, and SSJ2 Caulifla, while not on par with that, is still strong.
They did push back LSSJ Kale and SSJ Caulifla. Not a small feat.
I liked it. Super up to now has been U7 fighters getting rekted nonstop, this was a nice change.
Toppo didn't do a lot of help either :lol

Goku vs Vegeta, Frieza (pre 5 minutes shenanigans), Kid Buu seemed like longer than 48 minutes to me. But then again, if the Grand Priest wouldn't have announced that the ToP was 48 minutes, I would definitely have thought it was way longer even by now.

The reason why they're saving stamina is not because time, it's to save power for the enemies that will demand their full power and energy, one after the other.
Were not even at half of the contestants down, I'd imagine the real all out fights would begin when they're 30 or less

Sony makes consistent references to filler and non-canon stuff as examples of what made Dragon Ball great for him in comparison to Super (outside of his praise of SSJ4 today). That era of Dragon Ball will never return, ever. That's the point I'm trying to make. "It SHOULD be like this." is redundant when the examples you're showcasing have nothing to do with the basis of the series right now, which is Toriyama's involvement.

i meant all the universes. not just a few fodder guys. outside of u6...i don't recall any of the other universes having rapport with anyone in u7. everyone should be trying to murder goku and at least get that satisfaction even if in the end their universe goes poof. lol

We also just had the pride troopers try to single Goku out too before 17 & 18 saved his ass.

I think the biggest issue is Goku being shoved in everywhere, Goku and Vegeta should not have been in half these fights. Krillin, 18, and 17 vs. U9 would have been far better than Goku and Vegeta vs. them.
Same for Roshi and Tien vs. the pride troopers. They're closer in power scale.
Maybe they destroyed their rivals, like Beerus was originally going to do to Earth?

They were beating Caulifla up, so these two would have been instantly eliminated.
Even Hit was more of a team player than those 2...

I thought it was obvious he was talking about the hecticness of the action considering the gifs, not "who the people are".
I know that, but I'm on the other side of the fence where just watching cool stuff happen with no investment isn't fun. If I wanted to just watch Goku do cool stuff I'd look up YouTube videos of older clips which I already do plenty.
Hell, imagine if The Dark Tournament didn't bother giving the challenging teams personalities, the fights would be boring and just feel like filler until Tugoro.

First off, I don't care whatsoever what's canon and what isn't. I'm talking about the concepts. Second, I'm not talking about if being ganged up on, but how. Of course Goku got attacked my multiple threats. But Goku is being ganged up on in those gifs and I think it looks good because he's dodging everything. I would have appreciated if they did something similar to that where jobbers attack Goku and he dodges everything. For example, that brief moment where Cabba was attacked and he ringed the attackers out immediately. I simply enjoy seeing Shit like this:
