Dragon Ball Super |OT9| Genki-Drama

Conclusion to the arc: Jiren finds what there is beyond strength while standing at the edge of the ring, is amazed by it, and with 3 seconds left on the clock, a bloody heap of what's left of Goku and Gohan roll their way towards him, and with his attention still focused towards "That which lies beyond strength (chocolate puddin)", the bloody pulp of a duo proceeds to poke him causing him to fall off the arena. Universe 7 wins, and Jiren devours puddin en masse as he's blinked out of existence.

Edit: Fixed grammatical issues (I think), but I might have made it worse.

It would be cool and unexpected for Super if he went full bore with the Buddha character he's hinting at, and gained enough extra strength in the tournament to find what's beyond strength. The strongest mortal in the history of DB just...Ascends, and is gone, and Goku and Vegeta are still much weaker than him. Maybe while he's beyond reality he fixes up the mess of the order of gods, as the buddha was even beyond their control.

What if:

Toppo was mentioned as being candidate for being the next GoD for U11. If he were to tap into that power or whatever that makes him that and not Jiren, he ends up going a bit berserk and knocks Dyspo out. Jiren is like "yo, we should stop him. Being a GoD isn't justice." They all manage to stop him right as the time ends and U7 wins by of numbers.

Goku/Gohan uses the SDBs to bring back everything.

Universe 10 seemed to have the lowest all around level, but at least one of them could give a fight to Ultimate Gohan. U9 had a higher number of fighters that took at least a SSJ to defeat, but they could do nothing against anyone above that level.

I like how goku didn't even flinch at vegeta's power up, though the others commenting on it means it prolly won't go the way of super saiyan rage.

I thought Vegeta transformation was underwhelming, at best he is around Kaioken SSB.

Guess it is up to UI Goku to beat Jiren, no UI attack for Geets!

Based on tonights episode, along with the info we received for future episodes, heres how i think itll go down in the end (forgive the grammar).

-17 fights toppo. Toppo is pushed to the point where GoD mode is achieved. This appeases 17 fans as he makes toppo push himself to this point. 17 get knocked out.

- gohan and freeza fight dyspo (who is probs ranked third on the power scale of uni 11 fighters). They knock him out by working together. Gohan thanks freeza but is aware that freeza has plans. This forshadows future plot points. Meanwhile goku and vegeta use smart tactics to try and knock jiren out.

- gohan and freeza end up fighting toppo. The end result is toppo getting knocked out but takes one of the two uni 7 fighters out going down (probably gohan while giving the audience a good showing to make goham fans happy).

-vegeta gets knocked out but does heavy damage to jiren. Leaving goku and the remaining fighter from the toppo fight to help out (probably freeza because the story calls for it to introduce the next arc).

- in the end freeza wins. Makes a wish from the dragon balls that fucks everyone over but at the same time brings the important universes back to play a part in the next arc. The next arc is to brong down freeza.

The theory may seem bunk but it doesnt hurt to speculate. Also, this seems realistic considering how the arcs forshadowing has worked in terms of freezas handling of things.

After today’s episode I’m certain that jiren is a parody of one punch man/Superman. Specifically the comments on his punch attack

I thought that Vegeta's transformation would impress Goku or something like, but Goku did no care that much, or maybe he already knew that Vegeta could achieve that level of power. And Jiren is super duper ultra powerful, I was bored with the show, but now they have my attention.

I am still waiting for a good match for Freeza, and Gohan always disappoint me. And I still think that Vegeta and Goku should have fused.

I still wish that Freeza won this.

This just means fanboy wet dreams can come true if they fuse and do Super Blue Ultra Instinct Kaioken x20 Vegeto.

... I think I just threw up in my mouth a bit.

Meh, so far it's a pretty underwhelming arc to be honest. Although this is the biggest crisis in the Dragon Ball World, I still see the tournament as low stakes.

And what the hell was with the "new" transformation of Vegeta? I mean, promising his "student" that he will get the Super Dragon Balls? Why not include his family and make it more believable. And Goku didn't even care to it.

Gohan transforming to SS2 and Trunks first time SS1 still best transformations.

Goku doesn't have the same ties to his race as Vegeta does. There being other Saiyans and the planet still existing is a huge deal for him. It felt a little low-pressure, tbh, but at the same time it wasn't as boring and by-the-numbers as Trunks SS1 in the future was. I mean, that was almost literally exactly how Goku did it.

The new transformation is to show how Jiren is a beast and can handle both SS Bluer Vegeta and KKSSB Goku probably with one hand. until Goku gets his ultra instinct triump card back

Why doesn't Vegeta just learn Kaioken? It's not like the move belongs to Goku.
Vegeta always seems to be chasing after Goku anyway, I feel like he would've wanted any move that makes him stronger.
In any case I think the idea of Vegeta's powered up SSB is cool, but they drew it pretty bad. He just looks silly with his glittery eyes.

Seems to me he's sticking closer to Whis's advice. Goku keeps pulling new tricks out to power up, while Vegeta spent more time training up his base form and has more brute power in SSB because of it.

You don't "just learn" kaioken.
Only goku can use it, even king kai, the inventor and teacher of it can't do it.
Goku is a freak and is the only person ever that managed to use it.

Vegeta wants to be strong in "his own way". SSJ, SSJ2, SSJB is natural stuff for him, Kaioken isn't. He wouldn't want to learn Goku's Kaioken or Instant Transmission.

Right, its like the weight of the entire universe isn't even in the back of his mind when he's fighting. When he fought Freeza, Cell, or Buu it was clear that he was fighting to defend the people he cares for, and getting stronger through obtaining a new form was a means towards that goal. Now it just seems like he'll use any excuse to fight and get stronger, even if it meant putting the entire universe at risk.
Who cares about the narrative right now when the fights are possibly better and you get the same result (a win)

Based on the gods reactions to UI, I bet theres more move sets and transformations Vegeta or Goku can tap into.

I checked the last three pages to make sure this hasn't been brought up, so here goes:
http://www.saiyanisland.com/2018/01/dragon-ball-super-anime-to-go-on-hiatus-starting-in-march/

At least one publication claims that Dragon Ball Super will go on a hiatus. Some outlets are already using the keyword cancelled. Not clear at the moment...

I think they might be taking some time to recast Bulma's VA and maybe rework some stuff.

I'm seeing it as aligning all the threads right now. Manga catches up and exceeds the show so they can start being more similar, dub closes in, animators focus on the December movie for some time and also get the much needed production time to really polish up the next season. I'm seeing this as a good thing and can't see it going away for good.

Fan theory/semi-serious prediction time: Jiren wins. The season ends just before his wish, and we go on hiatus.

Opening scene when we return is Goku and co waking up to an earth and all universes planets with life merged into Universe 11, opening up so much room for advancement.

From there, possibly Jiren recruits them/Divine War theory.

All it means is that we get a brief downtime for it to breath, then we come back with a time skip to EOZ or something and you guys can quit bitching about continue discussing it and where we go from there.

And then SS4 happens and some of us get to enjoy the salty tears. And then we get SS4 Blue and all have salty tears.

17 and Frieza Teaming up is the kinda of stuff we should have been seeing since the start of this Tournament. Gohan did well in this episode were it not for the rediculous reused animation it would have been one of the best

There's no way Dragon Ball Super will be cancelled. More than likely they've put it on hiatus instead of giving us weak filler until the manga gets ahead. As mentioned, this will likely provide time for the production of a movie and so forth.

As for this episode, I was actually surprised Gohan exited as the title implies. Was looking forward to him gaining his own new transformation but he did well in his own right. Now it'll be for the God of Destruction Toppo to go down and likely take 17 with him.

It's starting to seem like Freiza or Jiren actually wins this tournament because Jiren is still rediculously powerful such that I'm not sure if Ultra Instinct forms are enough. Will we see Vegito or Gogeta? Who knows.

Interesting team up with Freiza and 17, neither of them looks like an initiator....

Poor Gohan though, didnt even get a power-up break out of his shelf!

Well that was a bit unexpected but giving the end nearing I guess they also have to rushthe series to the end. I just hope they do not botch this like in Fairy Tail.

As for the future. I am pretty sure the staff is needed for the movie in December so I hihgly expect more Dragonball in 2019. Do we know the story of the movie? MAybe they will end the series on a cliffhanger (Betrayl of some universe after they have won etc. Start the plot with the movie and continue through the anime,

Honestly don't know were they go after this saga, literally know who is the most powerful in known universes now.
Do a DBZ, and copy DB sagas. Aka Buu saga retold using the end of Z or something to follow on with Uub

Movie prob be some fluff, maybe freezer brings his father and brother back or something.

Do not forget that there were univeres left out because they are too powerful. This is prob where its going.

It is a little harder getting into Super like I could with DBZ back in the day, that's just me getting older though. If I went to this tournament arc straight off DBZ I can tell I would have been blown away. While it doesn't always make sense, the lesser fighters actually felt useful, moves like the instant transmission actually being used in combat and nice animation with some interesting fight choreography (like Goku grinding on an energy beam). I can easily see why people get rally hyped for this series.

A thought from episode 123: Jiren = One Punch Man

Jiren as a whole. He is not an evil villain yet is everything Goku and Vegeta would want in an opponent.

Edit:

The movie is about the saiyan origins, not ToP; possibly the first super saiyan god.

Perhaps the first Super Saiyan God and the Legendary Super Saiyan will be officially written as one in the same.

They aren't more powerful. They were excluded because they have a higher moral rating. Moral rating was confirmed to be different from just straight on power level.

Either way, writing in a larger number of universes only to leave several out does seem a lot like it's to leave room for future growth. Otherwise it could have just been fewer.

Jiren is like Saitama after 10,000 years more of being bored lol. The "that's just a regular punch for Jiren" cemented it for me.

He's definitely not evil, in the manga he's more of the hero archetype than Goku ever was. Goku just wants to fight so long as earth is left alone, manga Jiren wants to protect everyone. We'll see what the anime does with him but there's not that much time left to flesh it out ;_;

Seeing as I only watched maybe four episodes of OPM it's great to know I'm not the only one who thought that after hearing the normal punch line. These OP opponents are great for the Goku x Vegeta bromance.

Which is something that still bugs me. Goku in Dragon Ball wouldn't hesitate to save someone he saw was in trouble and got stronger as a means to an end. Only time he didn't is when there was no villain and just a tournament. In DBZ the hero side was more previlant. Yes, they did bring up how he did for the challenege, but they would mention his heroism more. This was probably because DBZ was mostly just villains and no tournaments. DBS is where it became mostly about training and fighting to an almost head turning degree. It's all he talks about but DBS is nearly the opposite of DBZ. Only two actual villains and the rest just present themselves as challenges rather than villains.

I am pretty sure they said more powerful or that this moral is measurred in power. They said they would be no match for the rest. Moral in our sense does not matter at all since everyone could be a teammemberas long they are strong. At leat that was a big reason why they not did participate (But again this could also be a misstranslation of the subs. I do not know)

Mortal rating isn't about power, shin and beerus made that pretty clear when they argued amongst themselves, there's many more factors to it.

I just want to see cool fights and effects but even for me the way Jiren is portrayed compared to the power of goku/vegeta is very silly.

One minute you have Jiren not giving a fuck to blue KK20, then dealing with bloody UI no issue except having to move more, a bit tough time with goku blue later on then taking it easy with goku kk20 / vegeta ultra blue attacking together.
Him surviving that finale flash/kamehameha in the last episode with ONLY a raised eye brow makes you think he is still only at like 10% of his power.
At this rate I dont even see how vegito will even make him try properly.

Can't make their minds up.
Getting a little tedious and ridiculous.

17 is just so cool though, big jump from him even with his power jump.

So I take it toppo is god mode too,
