Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

I thought the online one has loot the offline one doesn't?

It does, but that doesn't matter? The thing that'll happen if people hack is they can progress much faster, but ultimately for everyone else, it makes no real difference other than they might start the fight at the start of the gen, fight for the usual 10mins, then go sleep, come back and fight it again and now it's on the last segment(low health, only a few weak points left), so they do that and get the loot. Once it dies, there's a grace period during which anyone killing it will get the loot. The grace period is 40mins on PS3 and 2hours on Xbox360, which shows they can adjust it specifically for whatever purpose they want, and if it dies too quick on PC due to hackers, it'll be 2hours(or more).

The only difference is instead of the generations taking say 6hours, they'll take 2h10 or whatever with 10mins being hackers killing it and 2hours being the grace period. But you as a non hacking user won't see much of a difference besides a much faster progress between your attempts than you'd see on consoles.

Oh and I guess the speed kill list will be kinda useless, but it already was.

Ah, ok. I thought the dragon got tougher each generation, and the hackers speeding up the generations would lead to a much tougher dragon for the legit players in a short amount of time.

It gets "tougher" in the sense that it has more health. But the grace period still will stall the progress and if it gets real bad they can put a 5hours grace or whatever and just slow it down a lot. Tbh I'm pretty sure that's why the Xbox version has 2hours grace and the PS3 only 40mins, yet the xbox has a like 150more generations than the PS3 version. I assume some people hacked saves and stuff(they did for the pawns at least) and that's the result.

But just adding more health when hackers are killing it makes not much of a difference really. And pretty sure it doesn't get more damage cause I don't remember it being any harder in Dark Arisen than in vanilla(and that was like already 400generations more or something).

You'll find many people playing Waifu Dogma with their pawns too. xD

Waifu Dogma sounds wonderful.

I went with a pretty lady as my arisen and a very short old man with a greatsword as my pawn, but I might go for a pawn waifu this time. I'll definitely use the same arisen though. Got her settings from GAF, actually, she's gorgeous.

I made a few adjustments, but the base is this:

Thinking of going warrior, but heard that it's harder in the late game.

Does the warrior/magic hybrid whatever cast badass spells like the mage or is he stuck to enhancing his swords?

Will def be looking for mods to make female textures look "better". I will also be downloading any bikini mod I COME ACROSS WITH LIGHTNING SPEED OH GOD I AM NOT ASHAMED.

Very similar to what my Wai....pawn looks like.

You can halp by convincing me to buy this game

Imagine walking down a road... Then encountering a bunch of bandits. So, you get into a bit of a brawl with these bandits, right? Well, while you're eviscerating each other, a griffon sees the ruckus and takes the opportunity to get some food. One of the bandits in front of you gets picked up by this griffon and dropped from the sky moments later, with no apparent warning.

Now, what do you do?

1. Grab onto the griffon as it nears the ground to make it harder for it to fly and start slowly climbing your way to its wings as it slowly takes off the ground. Once you get to the wings you may proceed to try to hack them off(though you may come tumbling to the ground if you're too high up when this happens)

2. You the magic type? Start chanting a long spell and call down meteors to burn the griffon to cinders. Be careful though, that'll leave you vulnerable, and don't forget the Bandits view you as an enemy just as much as they view the griffon as one.

3. I suppose you like bows then? Let loose with a furry of arrows, sometimes rapid fire sometimes precision and drawn back to let that griffon know that flying around won't save it. One of your buddies can even give you a fire buff to your bow that'll make setting those feathers on fire a snap. Heck, you could even throw a vat of oil on it before you start shooting fire arrows at it for extra effect.

Now, in this game, this type of scenario is common and you can choose one of the above and much much more.

The double-dipper to first-time player ratio in here seems high, but I guess that's to be expected? I'm glad to see it, though, because I'm a first-timer, I'm preloaded, and I'm thinking of taking Friday off now.

A friend and occasional coworker has been an evangelist of this game since it launched, and he actually looked at me with pity a couple of years ago when I told him I had no intention of playing it on the console because I was holding out hope for a PC release. He's a thoroughgoing console guy and he doesn't understand a thing about PC gaming, he's just always wanted us to have more common ground together so we can share stories. He's out of state now, but he knows about the port and I think he's almost as excited for me to play it as I am.

Or, you can be a magick archer, and stab them in the face while you burn them in the face, by yourself.
Hmm....I like it!

Seems like Strider will be where I start with my character. My comfort zone is a good ole fashioned sword but it seems like I'll be missing out on the bow and arrow stuff...plus I'd rather have a character that isn't just running around in standard bulky armor

Can someone link to the Dragon's Dogma original intro? I wanna see how the song was used in context. Is it just the title screen music or what?

So, looks like the game leaked early.

Seems weird since there's no physical version and steam only has preload which afaik isn't crackable. Press version leak maybe? That'd be pretty exciting if it's a version that still has the licensed stuff that was removed like the berserk gear, so people can mod it in.
