Dragon's Dogma |OT| For the night is dark and full of terrors

Awesome.

I'm debating going to my local Gamestop as it seems they have the guides in stock. Really want to see if they've got the stats each class goes up by at level up.

Yes, great thread title!

I'll pose my question here aswell:

Since i have to create different characters on different profiles, if i buy some DLC with one profile (say the main one) can i use them on all the characters on different profiles (them being on a single ps3)?

I think I'll be there Day 1. For Max Payne I'll wait for a price drop and I simply don't have the right PC to play D3, so Dragon's Dogma it is. Really looking forward to it.

I did a fast count on the loot in this game from the files posted.

A grand total of 202 unique weapons, including swords, hammers, bows & staffs.

I couldn't count all the armor sets because they weren't all grouped together, but I did count the helmets individually.
There are a total of 71 unique helmets/headsets in the game.
Assuming the chestplate, leggings & greaves all go with them that should be 70+ full armor sets (which seemed like it).
I did not count the generic stuff like peasant clothing & the generic cloths, which would add even more to the total.

There are also a total of 32 unique shields also in the game.

I don't know absolutely, but I've never had any DLC that I've purchased and downloaded not be available for every account on my specific machine.

I'm not sure many people know this or if its worthy of being in the original post, but there is a 3rd option for grabbing besides hoisting things on your shoulder or climbing larger enemies.

If you are a Fighter (and presumably other classes as well, but not Strider or Mage at least) you can either tap the button to hoist a smaller character on your shoulder, OR, hold the button down to hold the enemy in front of you and use it as a living shield. You can actually use this in the demo in the prologue to let goblins kill each other, by grappling one goblin and using it as a shield while the other goblins kill it trying to attack you. You can see your fighter Pawns do this frequently (at first I thought only Pawns could do it).

Against some enemies (like harpies) you'll pin them to the ground instead by doing this, and can then use an attack button to kick the pinned enemy.

Its also probably worth noting that you can't grab a smaller enemy with either method unless they are in a "hurt" state of some kind - recoiling, knocked over the ground, dead, etc. If they are "combat ready" then you can't grab them (I see a lot of people in videos trying to just randomly grab enemies to chuck them off of cliffs and thinking they missed, not realizing that they first have to hit the enemy with normal attacks to get them into a recoil or something first before they can grab them).

Crap I forgot all about the 720p settings on the 360 fixing the tearing. Thank god. I can't handle low FPS but tearing is also somewhat ugly. Good to GO! Systems on full and my body is ready!

People have been saying it doesn't do anything to fix it, just to let you know.

Ok. Well the videos online that compared the two during the demo craze seemed to improve it and when I set mine it did as well. It could have been wishful thinking but I played the demo like 40 times after once I changed the settings it didn't screentear half as much. Since the 360 has all the bonuses except for the tearing I am going with that. I guess I can hope I wasn't seeing things. But the videos sure did seem to show a vast improvement and again I thought for sure that I saw it as well.

I am just overly excited to get this thing up and running on my system:) Here is to hoping.
If it doesn't seem to do anything I will just blink really fast hahahahaha.

So is it confirmed we can't have more than one character per account? or is it one save per account?

That's hot. Thanks. I want to see those helms..

If you watch some of the videos/read dev notes/previews, you'll find that at night scary shit happens. So the GoT quote is pretty much spot on. You don't want to go out adventuring after dark.

Ah, that is pretty sweet. I do remember someone on 8-4 podcast mentioning about fighting at night.

The demo won't let me do that.
I had to create different characters in different accounts, maybe the final game will be different, i don't know.
i still don't get it. oh well day 1 for me
Dragon Dogma's nights are particulary dark, compared to other games of the genre (you can compare them to Arma's, for example) and as Arcteryx said, at night powerful stuff comes out, in the other thread someone said that at night, for example, there's an infinite respawn of zombies.

So yeah, DD's nights are dark and full of terrors.

Ya night is seriously insanely difficult. Looks to be almost a different style game when you go out at night. Exciting!

Yea just looked around and it does sound like its one save per account. So I guess the only work around is either create a backup account or backup your multiple characters to usb(assuming the final game still has saves unlocked, because the demo definitely does).

Have they revealed how long a day is in real time? I can imagine trying to rush trough a quest to try and get back to the city in time, it could add a great sense of urgency to the side quests.

New dev blog: Mixin' and Matchin' - Item Combination in Dragon's Dogma

-You can preserve items that easily rot by putting them in the “airtight flask”. If you are able to put a fish that you caught into the airtight flask while it is still fresh, you will have nothing to worry about.

-The Fighter cannot use magic abilities. However, if you can make a magic book, this will become an effective means of attack against monsters that you cannot attack with mere swords.

-I cannot go into details here, but monsters that are connected to fire drop items that allow you to create explosives.

-If you somehow end up in jail, you might be able to create a key and escape.

Since I don't want choose between a shitty framerate or tearing I'll just look forward to playing whichever version gamefly sends me lol.

Alright, I have a copy of the guide on reserve at Gamestop. Couldn't wait, haha.

I'm going to pick it up soon hopefully and I'll try to answer some questions while I peruse it.

No pawn/porn Double entendre OT title. . . Am dissapoint after all the talk in the other thread.

Anyway. Can you hide something you're wearing. Invisibility dyes and shit? No point in making some nice customisations only to be hidden under helmets. Can't see hair or face.

By unique equipment, do you mean rare items that can only be obtained once? Or items that have a unique appearance, name, or set of stats? Like in the 202 unique weapons, would you include items like "iron sword" or "steel shield"?

Either way, that sounds like a godly amount of variety.

Anyway. Can you hide something you're wearing. Invisibility dyes and shit? No point in making some nice customisations only to be hidden under helmets. Can't see hair or face.

Am also curious about this. In games with no "hide helmet" option I tend to simply go without. I put too much time and effort into my customized faces to cover them up.

God's had his chance.
Games like these I usually enjoy seeing the new helmet i just found on my character so it doesn't bother me that im covering up the face that i spent so much time customizing ... also helps for the roleplaying aspect when i get into town to go in, remove my helmet for talking to merchants and getting quests and such .. then put it back on once i get outside the walls. I understand the appeal of making equipment invisible for the looks of things but i kind of hate it at the same time. Honestly .. the fact that you can have like 4 layers of clothing in this game is so fucking awesome in itself that all i can think about is how f'ing awesome my Arisen is going to look after I get his god tier shirts, armor, helmets and cloaks. In the middle of slaying that devil drake in a death swamp i wanna see a fully armored kitted out dark black/grey assassin with my hooded cloak billowing behind me as I jump for a kill shot ... not zooming in on his facial features.

Some helmets could be open up like the Griffith one so you could see your character's face, but I don't know if it's only his that lets you do that since it was designed that way (looks kind of silly though):

but I don't know about hiding them
