Dragons Dogma PC version early hands-on video

Heh.

This is all I need to see. The shadows were so, so bad in the PS3 version. Couldn't see shit with all their jittering and crawling edges.

Shadow Complex, Dragon Dogma...

What other games from last gen are must-have that don't have a PC version yet?

Vanquish? what else

It literally looks like a different game, my mind has trouble parsing that as Dragon's Dogma. It's not just the framerate, the resolution brings out details that were'nt apparent in the original. It's Dark Souls all over again, only even more extreme... which is awesome.

Every time I look at the videos, my mind is expecting massive framerate drops or consistently bad FPS.

I've been conditioned far too much. Going from the PS3 version to the PC version is going to be something.

I was surprised when I played the ps3 version when it was ps+ GotM. Such a fantastic story and game play. It was hard to put down but the framerate made it easier. 60fps... Day1 here.

Still downloading, but are you saying that it ran at 4k 60fps on a 770?

EDIT:

4K 60fps capture...I can't remember exactly which card I used at the time. It was either Radeon 290X or GTX Titan Black. GTX 770 is not capable of sustaining such high frame rates at 4K resolution. Your best bet is to cap it at 30fps 4K or lower the resolution. Lowering graphical settings will help for sure, but I haven't had the chance to really explore much on that front. Too busy enjoying the game ;-)

Huh, seems more reasonable. Still, it's looking like it's going to be a great port :)

I need to see a video of a mystic knight with 3 great cannons laid down

Well should still run fine but yeah, while the 60FPS stuff is amazing, I'd like to see situations when usually the game would chug like hell, like Ur Dragon breathing right at you or (and that one doesn't require clearing the game)bunch of magic canons then moving the camera so it's close to the ground and then hitting the canons with the multi hit sword attack(crescent slash? the one that does a hit in front then a hit backwards, it hits each canon twice). Maybe casting High Maelstorm and standing right in the middle works too but iirc that takes a whole lot longer since you need a max lvl sorcerer. Wonder how much it'll dip. I mean if you cap at 60 and you can actually render say 120, it might not dip, but still interested to see.

The game often dropped frames doing random stuff, but it was only really bad in a few specific cases, mostly when your entire screen was filled with particle effects like those cases.

Oh thanks.
But still that's pretty good.

Downloading that 5GB video right now, Wbacon maximizing the hype.

im jealous of all the people getting to play this for the first time

and you guys that pick sorceror class will get to cast High Bollide with no FPS struggle ;)

I was patient.

Every time I saw Dark Arisen on sale I held off. I always had faith in Capcom.

Does anyone remember the line Capcom gave as to why they wouldn't be porting Dragon's Dogma to PC back in the day? Something about the pawn system not being doable on PC? Funny to think about, now that we're here.

Well, full-screen multi-layer alpha blended effects will always cause drops in framerate (unless you are already capping a game far below its potential maximum), but it's a different thing to drop down from 120 compared to dropping down from sub-30 ;)

For those who don't have the time or bandwidth to download the 5GB file, someone posted it on YouTube below.

The quality difference both in terms of smoothness and visual fidelity is not as great compared to the 5GB download version, but the footage should still give you a good idea what to expect from a mid range GPU. Again, it was captured on a 770GTX running at 1080p with all graphical options maxed out.

Thanks very much. It's going to be such a dream to play this no slowdowns. Not only does the high framerate look nice, it also looks reasonably improved from a graphical standpoint. This easily could have just been a straight port with an improved framerate, instead Capcom decided to go further than that.

Veins. ༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ

A German site claims that these are the specs:

Personally, I'd be ok with that!

Higher than usual MT Framework games of that period but still really good and even with my 'ole OCed 5850 1GB and i5 750 oc@3.3Ghz I'm sure IQ and performance will be much much better than on my PS3 copy of DA anyway and the game still gonna be there when I finally upgrade my rig, can't wait!

MAN... MAN!!!

That frame rate. It's all I ever dreamed of. This is going to be so fantastic.

Hopefully someone mods in the real theme song minutes after release because I can't stand the song they added in DA.

edit: before Christmas!? Oh my word... This is just too good.
