Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

The entitlement in this thread is embarrassing.

I am disappointed as I was looking forward to checking out PS+ DC yesterday, but to take it as far as some of the people here and bash Sony for PSN and PS+ is a bit over the top.

Having online issues in the first couple days is unfortunately the world we live in now and no game or company is immune (With Destiny being an anomaly)

Now if you want to bitch about Sony's communication in regards to the whole thing then I am all for that. There is no reason why a blog post couldn't have surfaced yesterday after the PSN store was updated and PS+ DC wasn't there. Leaving us in the dark is more inexcusable then not having it available for download.

People that paid full price for the full game deserve this decision as they need to get the game they purchased up and running. Us PS+ free loaders should not be a higher priority.

Let's hope it gets resolved in the next few days.

entitlement? We are entitled to get this game cause we pay for + . Sony told told that we were suppose to get it yesterday and didn't. So people have the right to be angry.

I've requested an ETA, although no guarantee the folks I work with can give me an answer back.

I believe the exact words in my email were "forums meltdown over the delay" or something like that.

we need a real conduit for getting in touch with Sony to voice our opinions. right now the only person i can think of is @yosp, which is unfair because that's not even his job.

CS reps on the phone seem clueless, the official forums have absolutely no feedback from the company, and the Sony twitter accounts just refer us back to the CS reps.

the one thing MS does very well, being engaged with the community. their forums are actually helpful with employees answering questions and Major Nelson is very accessible for players with problems. I have seen many tweets from him explaining problems and giving updates on network problems.

So us free loaders (who paid for a service which drive club is part of) should not be treated the same as people who paid full price for 5 x the amount of content?

The entitlement in this thread is embarrassing.

Earlier someone in this thread or the other DC delay thread said this is a wake up call and Sony needs to fire to person who does the weekly updates, a couple more rage posts, then another post saying Sony deserve to lose first place because of this.

One person saying this mind you, who's comments have been sticking out like a sore thumb, it's horrible, is this how people act in real life? I hope not.

People are definitely entitled to their copy of DC PS+ but it's not like they decided to completely abandon it, it's still coming, you'll just have to wait an extra day or two, big deal right? lol The people who actually paid and bought the full version are top priority, as they should be, those who assume otherwise need to stop and use their brain for a moment.

Destiny hasn't been flawless though. I have had many problems with disconnects and lag spikes. Going back to the launch of Minecraft PSN has had problems with connectivity and anything that needs to be pulled from the servers, especially the friends list.

from what I remember most 360 games were Peer2peer. One example is Gears3, it started with dedicated servers but MS quietly shut them off and the game reverted to a peer2peer experience. there were many more PS3 games that had dedicated servers last gen, I remember this because I was ticked off at MS for taking subscription money and not providing dedicated servers for it's games.
Most PS3 games were peer to peer also if I'm not mistaken. Uncharted 2 and 3 definitely were. GT5 had servers to handle the online lobby system but the actual players in gameplay were connected peer to peer rather than hosted by a server. Even Killzone Shadowfall just uses servers for matchmaking while the matches are peer to peer. Were there any PS3 games that actually used dedicated servers through and through (other than ea games)?

The difference is Microsoft (mostly) left the matchmaking servers up and Sony didn't.

Are we not "entitled" to clear communication and a prompt service that we pay for?

I don't know why entitlement is such a dirty word when it comes to video games.

I just find it hysterical that GAF is freaking out about not receiving a free game quickly enough.

Entitlement, y'all.

It's hysterical that you see this as entitlement. This was heavily advertised by Sony to be releasing alongside the full version and was meant to draw people into getting PS+. You don't make promises, reap the positive PR and extra PS+ subscriptions then fuck it up and not be expected to be called out on it. And I'm saying this as someone who bought the full upgrade anyway.

It's not free, you are paying for a service that provides it.

I'll never understand this sentiment.

yeah you are paying for the SERVICE not for the game.

When I go to extend PS+ I have to hit a buy button. I no longer at that point need to hit the buy button for anything else within PS+ that is free.

The Service is the cost, not the games. The games themselves ARE free.

And lets be honest, 99% of people are using PS+ for online multiplayer potential, not so they can get free games. That is just a bonus within the service.

This is the most ass backwards logic I've ever seen.

Can I play Drive Club PSN+ edition without giving Sony my money? The answer is no.

It isn't free. Period.

Entitlement, y'all.

1.) We are paying for this 'free game' (more a demo, but...) as we are paying for t access to their not working online service. Granted; it's not much but still.

2.) Most of us doubt sony's honesty and think the delay has been caused deliberately to sell more versions.

But I agree, it's not the end of the world. In the end DC+ Edition is more a demo. But still people have every right to complain.

I am a bit bummed that I have to wait for the ps+ version of DC but then on the other hand I feel super bad for the people that paid full retail for this game and can't even play online that sucks and I'm sure most of us have been there with at least one game at one point. I don't really mind having to wait cuzz shit happens and I know I will get the ps+ version of DC eventually. But hey that's just me
Don't feel bad. Playing offline is super fun as is. Do I miss the challenges and social stuff? If course. But it doesn't take away from how fun it is to play this game. Was only planning on playing 30 min last night, ended up playing 3 hours instead.

Totally! There was a great post somewhere that I should've saved, but it isn't a dirty word. We as consumers are "entitled" to the promised features of products we purchase. If one cannot deliver on that, then they shouldn't have promised it. That said, unless the wait is horribly egregious, I'm not too fussed about waiting a couple weeks although it gives me pause about the stability of Sony's online features and makes me question where my money is going.

You can buy PS+ version on PS Store????

how is it ass backwards?

of course you couldn't play the PS+ version of the game without PS+. That game is just a part of the service.

So your telling me you gave Sony 50$ this year to play DriveClub PS+ Edition?

Having online issues in the first couple days is unfortunately the world we live in now and no game or company is immune (With Destiny being an anomaly)

Why is this acceptable? I know it's just a video game and nobody is going drop dead because the servers are wonky at launch, but I can't think of another product where people just shrug their shoulders when it doesn't work as advertised. I certainly can't think of any where consumers themselves get criticized for wanting the product they paid for to function properly.

The games are part of the service, and you're underestimating how many people subscribe mainly for the "free" games, if it was 99% then pre-PS4 PS+ numbers must have been abysmal.

Warhawk if I'm not mistaken

Tell that to the people that paid $60.00 for the game. I have been gaming for a very long time and know that there are issues with servers on launch day, but this is different, usually when there are server issues, at least some people are able to get on, while others are in a que or get some disconnects etc. For this game, many have yet to get on-line at all since the midnight launch.

If someone pays $60 for a game that is very on-line focused, then they have every right to be mad and bitchy about it, even moreso for the majority of people that have not been able to get on-line not even once.

Did you purchase PS+ soley because you wanted to play the PS+ version of DriveClub?

It really doesn't matter what I purchased PSN+ for.

Games offered each month is part of the service. A service that I paid for.

How is this hard to comprehend? Just because you personally "value" online multiplayer more than the games offered does not make it an any less valid part of the paid service.

Yes, you paid for a SERVICE that includes more than PS+ version of DC.

I'm not sure how what else is included in the service is relevant to the issue or whatever portion of that cost covers driveclub ps+ edition. Perhaps people who have bought drive club from a cheaper online shop than others should have to make way for full rrp paying customers also?

I actually completely agree. It's been said fir months that this game is free with Ps plus. Hell a year. It's not a customers fault that Sonys services are pretty much shite at the minute.suffering from down time etc.

I'm just voting with my wallet. No more Ps plus for me and deffo not getting driveclub at even the upgrade price. I don't want this being read as some ranting gamer on the net. I'm actually really blasé about it. Just airing it out. I just hope evolution doesn't get shut dien my Sony after this game :/

I am so past caring about this game any more, seriously. It's just farcical now. To be honest, i'm enjoying the car crash that is the marketing more than I probably would the game anyhow, so... win/win

I don't get it. If people are saying $50 doesn't entitle you to what Sony says they'll give you for that $50, then, what exactly, *does* it entitle you to?

Are we just giving them $50 out of the goodness of our hearts? Or are we paying for something in return?

god i wouldn't want to work PR for these companies....1 mistake....just 1 mistake and the pitchforks are out!
Shameful sense of entitlement in these posts but whatever right , first world problems indeed. What will we do without our free games and how will we live if we get it late. guess its a generational thing as it seems olderGAF seems less mad.

I'm really baffled by some of the responses in here.
Did you rent your apartment for the sole reason of making soup?

No? Then don't complain to your landlord (or anyone else) when the stove breaks down.

Preach.

This right here is my favorite post of the thread hands down. And yeah this is BS just let me download it and play the single player till you figure your shit out Sony.

The thing is, people are still getting the thing they paid $50 for. They're just getting it a day (or a few days) later than expected.

But some of them are acting like it's been outright cancelled.

Did you purchase PS+ soley because you wanted to play the PS+ version of DriveClub?

Not the person you're asking, but kind of yeah. Back when it was "the full game minus a few cars/tracks" and there was still hope that my wheel setup would work with the PS4/DC.

I since got a Vita, played some of the PS+ games and enjoyed a few others over the past (almost) year but my intention upon purchasing PS+ back before the PS4 launch was mainly for a new awesome racing game called #DRIVECLUB that seemed to be getting thrown in as an incentive for PS+ since they were now forcing us to pay for MP gaming. Plus they were having a ton of sales on PS+ for $30-35 everywhere so I figured "why not?".

I won't be renewing. I see no point as I don't play online much (if at all) and I have Gamefly to try all those games that eventually come to PS+.

LMAO, great post.
