Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

I thought it was 2 PS4, 2 PS3 and 2 PSVita games? They only gave us 1 PS4 game this month.

Spelunky and Pix the Cat. Not too hard to find that out. I mean theres a thread here on Gaf, the ps store, and about 9 million other places you can look.

edit: Oh yeah, Dust too.

Seriously? The damn online is broken. Evo is trying to fix it. Opening the flood gates with an onslaught of users from the ps+ version wont help anything at all. I want the ps+ version too, but ffs, Im willing to wait while things get fixed.

I agree, I'd feel like shit knowing that I was fucking up the game even more for the people that actually paid money for the game. We will still get the free version eventually. Patience is a virtue.

Not the people who bought a PS+ only for this month though thanks to Driveclub.

You paid £5 (or regional equivalent) and still got three games with the promise of this when the issue is resolved. Im sure you could get a refund from Sony anyway, if you're fed up of waiting and sign up again when it's released.

It's not me personally.I had a yearly subscription that happens to end in a few days.I'm going to miss it but i don't care that much anymore.

But i know there are people out there who bought a one month PS+ sub just to try Driveclub before they decide if they want to buy it or not. Yeah they should have waited until the game was out before they bought their subscription but when a company like Sony promises something you kinda take their word for granted.

Eh, I bought mine back when the DC PS+ was announced. Just saved the card and entered when the PS4 launched. I figured the game would be out Soony©. I'm not even sure when it expires ... sucks for those that bought it for DC like me. Sure, it's not that big of a loss for me, I have other things to do. But last week I could have easily bought the PS+ edition if I liked what I saw, now AC and pCARS are out soon, so there's no way I can fit it into my budget.

It may just be a week or two, or three ... but this is the season for big releases, people like me will hold off on the game now. The first month is a games biggest draw, we're 1/4 of the way through that and paying players are having issues.

I just think that botched online launches are bullshit in this day and age. It's not "only a few people play MP" anymore like it was 10 years ago. This is the MAIN draw of the game, the main draw of many games. This could have easily been found and fixed with an open beta. Instead paying customers are the ones that suffer and they are losing sales because of their tight-lipped and limited beta communication before it actually launched.

I don't understand how the online is so messed up. Its not like they are re-inventing the wheel, right? This has been done many times before, racing games have been online capable for years. Its just baffling.

Yeah someone really dropped the ball here. They clearly did little to no testing on server loads when developing the game. To still be having server issues so long after the game's release suggests serious design and development issues.

Sad this turned out broken. Losing interest in purchasing this. What if a fix breaks something else? This is taking a long time. This isnt a beta the full release is out.

Well they'll eventually get everything fixed. No harm in waiting to buy until that happens if you're into the online stuff. I didn't mind as I'm mainly into the single player tour anyway.

It's not the multiplayer racing... it's the constant connectivity required for the challenges, clubs and fame it seems like. It's also why the Driveclub mobile app was pulled. I'm guessing they try to keep all that data fresh for everyone (and there's apparently a lot of it), and there's a serious bottleneck somewhere. It was probably difficult to simulate pre-launch.

It all worked so great before it actually launched :/

What does 2 ps4 games a month have to do with anything?

They promised driveclub long before they promised 2 games a month

Well it is still October. So as long as they get it out prior to November 1st they are good to go. It was promised as an October PS+ title and hey, it still can be.

Just fix the issues, get the buyers online, and then once it is all stable ... pray the PS+ version doesnt break everything again

I don't like when the last sentence in an article reporting information is "These are not the official figures so we advice (sic) readers to take it with massive grain of salt and consider it as rumor."

Well they'll eventually get everything fixed.

look at all those people that give 2 cents about stuff that will "eventually" get fixed:

Oh no, the feelings will be hurt of these fake people that don't exist.
Unless you can be absolutely sure there are zero customers that fall into this group its best to assume they exist, and worth offering up some level of additional customer support. Same with people who may have re-upped their PSN for the DriveClub PS+ edition.

Man, this is basic customer service 101.

PS+ year costs the same as Driveclub. Why not buy the damn game instead?

Because they don't exist :)

Not so sure.

Besides challenges, the game has been working as intended since Monday for me, which is a major step foward.

Its a good game and I think 99% of the people who were going to try the ps+ release still will even if they are posting angry things on the web. I personally think it would be foolish and borderline childish not to...im mean its just a game, and its free, and its fun. /shrug :/

If the plan on releasing post October id hope they put a ps+ version preorder up so that the one month subs can grab it before they expjre

Since for some, it's part of how they make their buying decision, and since the game was used as one of the reasons to subscribe to the service, I think you're off-base on this.

Considering the game doesn't work for people that paid money for it, I'd say the whiners are more off-base on this.

I paid money for it so I would like to see my game working before people get it for free, that's all. Maybe there are five people in the world that bought PS+ for this demo, and they made a terrible decision.

People are not being "childish" after losing interest in a demo that was supposed to come out over a week ago, especially if all they're hearing in the meantime is how terrible the servers have been working.

That's how the market works. Launch period is the make-or-break point for most titles. Any dev who screws up this vital window of time suffers in sales and the game has a very real possibility of never recovering. People move on to the next big game that's just around the corner because the market moves pretty fast in the fall and winter. Let's not call people "childish" for behaving exactly in line with how the market works.

Its not whining when something that's been marketed and sold doesn't exist (PS+ version), or doesn't work as advertised (the full game).

I can only hope you don't have a customer facing job.

Since you just got finished saying "Why not buy the damn game instead?" you're sounding more spiteful than anything else. You being annoyed that the services part of the game isn't working doesn't mean people who've payed into a service don't have grounds to be annoyed as well. They haven't gotten access to the game they pay money to get access to.

Eh, other things to do now. AC just released RC1 with DK2 support, pCARS is just around the corner and I just spent $30 on some random games I forgot I wanted. Sorry, but a week is a long time when it's October/November/December in the gaming world, this is the huge push for releases. It's like when games launch next to GTA or something and are "sent to die". Early October was perfect, but now I'll wait for bargain bin and not in a hurry to play the game at all with other distractions that are new this week.

I mean, people can use all the excuses they want or that people like me "don't exist" but they lost a potential purchase from me. It's really that simple. I was hyped for every DC thread, dehyped when I found out about the demo-status of the PS+ edition, less hyped when wheel support was absent, and then more hyped with each video thread and info. Now I'm dehyped again and just don't care much anymore. There's a reason games sell the most in the first month, you grab people's attention before it gets taken by something else.

It's getting fixed, slowly but surely.

I just think about how terrible BF4 was for so long before it became playable. And that was a veteran studio putting out an updated version of BF3.

They'll fix it, but will it be before people completely lose interest ? This is a new IP, it doesn't have the following of the massively popular Battlefield to pull it through an extended paid Beta test.

From their facebook page recently.

We have a few new updates for you today as we work toward getting everyone connected and racing together in #DRIVECLUB:

1) The latest game update (1.04) is now available to download worldwide and you will need to install it in order to play online. Your PS4 will prompt you to download the update from PSN as soon as you fire up the game.

2) More servers and new upgrades are still coming online hour-by-hour, so we expect improvements to server connectivity and reliability for everyone. We will be bringing Face-offs back into play soon.

3) Essential diagnostics are still running periodically (for the next 12 hours) to help us continue to improve server performance. This may disrupt online play for you when you get connected.

We are still also working hard to get the PS Plus Edition of DRIVECLUB out as soon as possible and hope to update you on this soon.

What does it mean? They are working hard on doing what?
I have not a PS4 anymore, but this is ridicoulous, they should have released the PSPlus version two weeks ago, and now they are saying "We are working hard".
Wasn't it a server side issue? So fixing this should solve the problem.
That "We are working hard" sounds like "We are doing the PSPlus Edition now, hopefully it will be available soon".

2 weeks ago? The game has only been out for just over a week.

Their loss. I get those pissed they can't play all the features they paid to play. Seems silly for people who haven't bought it yet to skip it down the road when everything is fine if they're really interested in the game.

Same with the PS+ delay. Yeah, it sucks, but no reason not download and check it out when available if interested--except for people who's membership expires before it comes out of course.

But whatever. Gamers are a weird, fickle bunch in what they rage over.

They've been making changes to how the game communicates with the servers - thus the game updates.

Its fair to assume that those game-side changes would also need to be put into the PS+ version as well. Not knowing how they've gone about developing the two (full retail vs. PS+ version) I have no idea whether this means a duplicate effort and duplicate testing or not.
