Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed by Server Issues

As someone who has had PS+ since day one, PS+ has not always had free games.

I've had it since day one, too. I don't remember them ever not having free games.

they promise 6 titles a month
they gave us 6 titles this month
Driveclub is a bonus game

bad analogy time:

You hire a caterer. the caterer is like "Hey man thanks for hiring us as a bonus we'll bring a tray of cinnamon rolls" and then the caterer shows up and says "damn man we forgot the cinammon rolls can we bring em later?" and then you decide to burn their building down.

They promised us seven games this month. And Driveclub is not a mere bonus, but rather the highlight, and the first PS+ on PS4 game they ever announced. Its the first AAA game on PS+ for PS4.

However, even if I was to indulge you in your analogy, a more proper analogy would be if the caterer showed up, didn't mention anything about the bonus caterer, everyone is trying to get the caterer's attention and the caterer will just not say a word to them. Desperately they cry and cry "Caterer, why won't you answer us? We just want to know where that bonus caterer is!" Nary a whisper is heard back.

in some people's mind they also killed your dog.

in all seriousness...sony's built up so much goodwill...just a little bit of communication would have greatly mitigated the disappointment and (excessive in some instances) anger people are expressing. seems like companies are brain farting all the time in regards to PR. its kind of weird...

Damn straight I'll burn it down. Cinnamon rolls are fucking awesome.

Two days isn't exactly a nightmarish hellscape for server issues and release delays. I mean, it's annoying, but I think we're still in the window where reasonable efforts wouldn't have made a difference, given the challenge.

Totally, they should fire all those responsible, Sony should lose many future sales even, they deserve to lose the console race now!

Right?
There is no way those Girl Scouts could have sold all those cases of cookies in one hour. If they did, they would have to make $500 in one hour, which, based on an 8 hour day is over a million dollars a year. That is more than most lawyers, doctors, and successful business people make!

I have the retail version and still can't get on the servers to play online. I'm really getting tired of console games being released unfinished or not properly prepared for online gaming.

Same boat. Full retail + Season Pass for me. Got caught up in the hype. Enjoying SP, but would really love to be able to start earning club points to unlock the club cars. I've gotta stop preordering.

I really want to know more about this kind of situation though. Is it Sony not coming through with proper infrastructure for the game? Is it the dev not doing proper testing prior to launch? Poor project management? Other variables? How does this keep happening?

They're unwilling to release the demo due to server issues. Maybe the entire game should have been delayed more.

Now why the fuck can't we play drive club plus edition single-player?
Until the servers are fixed or the the game is patched, the game is constantly pinging the servers and causing problems so just giving everyone the PS+ version isn't really a good idea.

Starting to think about selling my PS4... Nothing exclusive to play at this time and I don't see anything on the horizon that is going to change that. Drive club seemed interesting when they promised it as a full game at launch, because it ment only having to buy one launch game and getting a 'packed in game' right away. That didn't happen, at all. And now this? Kind of done with Sony being incompetent. After they hit big at E3 2013 they became quite arrogant in my humble opinion and didn't put the care and effort which got them at this point. Hope they really change their ways in the upcoming months.

I literally choked on my drink seeing this. No words, just none.

This STILL isn't downloadable? How many people caved in on the full version because they couldn't wait to try it?

Please consider purchasing the Xbox All-in-One Games and Entertainment System by Microsoft.
You're quite right. The solution was here all along. Right before our eyes.

For everyone who is offended by the negligence of SCE/Sony/Yahweh, just remember, there is something else out there for you. Something more special maybe. It's big, and beautiful. And it comes in both black and white.

It's the one in All-In-One. Games and Entertainment. And so you can also be part of the Age of One, by purchasing an Xbox One.

It's the next water cooler!

Can people at least already download it? I mean, they could just lock the online mode or something like that, right?

Right?

As broken as the store constantly is, yes, someone should be fired. If Sony won't feel compelled to do that and fix this until they start to feel financial losses, then yes, Sony also deserves to lose sales.

It's called the customer responding to shoddy service and the market punishing the corporation unwilling to fix their issues.

How about taken out and beaten within a inch of their life? I mean firing is a bit much, a good couple smack with a bat should teach them the right lesson right?

Also all current PS4 users should get free PS5's for our inconvenience, I mean I had to actually go outside yesterday instead of race video game cars.

So you're not coming on this march then? Best seats of the house available right now. You might end up regretting it. And if there's one thing I learned from the OT today, it's about life, and regret.

Now, from I've heard the multiplayer and online services far outweight the competition and therefore a significant platform destroying event like this could have been prevented.

I think I'm sold, thank you, Verendus.

I really feel sorry for everyone who bought this game and the season pass too... I mean forget the Ps plus version. It's really really bad that paying customers can't play this game. With no communication from Sony really? Is there an eta on the servers going back on? Jeff gertsmann is right again people "don't pre order games"

I need to see if LBP3 saves Sony's fall lineup first, then perhaps I'll jump ship with you.

You can play the game if you have the full version. It's just missing quite a few chunks of social functionality.

Why sell your Ps4 when Bloodborne is out in 4 months?
There are potential games to come. The Order, Bloodbourne and Uncharted are the main titles for PS4 next year I believe. But lets hope they reach expectations, Im not liking too much the given impressions about The Order. Bloodborne and Uncharted will hardly disappoint though.

I think this could be resolved if we have the Playstation crew kneel and ask for forgiveness on a live stream. A sincere apology is all people have been asking for in this thread, and I don't think that's too difficult to provide. If kneeling is too much, maybe just stand.

My Titanic will be waiting.

Edit:

Shit, wait. I meant my ark. I've named it Noah.

I'm trying to see where this view comes from that terminating the employment of people that have demonstrated an inability to do their jobs is some huge evil. This is how employment works.

Some of the stuff people are spouting in this thread is just batshit crazy.

Phantom Menace better than Return of the Jedi? Come on, man.

Sony: "We shall only let the paying customer experience the server issues" I wonder if you could get a refund, as they are admitting its not a full experience right now. People certainly thrashed BF4 for its incompetent servers. What makes driveclub immune to criticism. This DC is a very interesting situation, because where Gaf would usually do all they can to bring attention to the situation *Usually to get a response, or help* most users are preaching complacency. The analogies are silly Here, because both the PS+ versions and full game version were *purchased*. Yet Sony/EVO is giving priority to people who pay more money? Why not delay both versions until its fit for purchase, rather than isolate half your paying customers. This is a baffling release.

Why is the paid version still up if they're having server issues? Won't people buying that version also increase the load and their problems? Not to mention that they'd be buying a product that isn't working.

Can we really stop with the semantics game of "free" when you pay for a service.

Everyone knows what the fuck "free" means in this context. When you go on PSN and see the game.. it lists the price as "free". Honestly, the people getting caught up on that are just looking to troll at this point, as everyone knows what the context of "free" means with regards to Playstation Plus... so stop.. it's stupid.

Don't forget No Man's Sky and The Tomorrow Children.

a legitimate work of art right here. :D

Well how would you like people to react when the service they are paying for becomes unusable/unstable?

Except that's not what is happening here. You are getting all of the free stuff, less a PS+ version of Driveclub, which is slightly delayed due to peak usage by the people who purchased full retail.

I can connect to PSN just fine. Nothing else is broken. Sometimes people DO overreact.

1.) We are paying for this 'free game' (more a demo, but...) as we are paying for t access to their not working online service. Granted; it's not much but still.

2.) Most of us doubt sony's honesty and think the delay has been caused deliberately to sell more versions.

But I agree, it's not the end of the world. In the end DC+ Edition is more a demo. But still people have every right to complain.

You can't be serious.

I am afraid seppuku would be the only honorable action at this point.
