DRIVECLUB The Drenched Forests of Canada

Serious question- is it out of the realm possibility to remove the jaggies from the power lines? I don't know if the AA solution in the game is final, but the power lines are the legitimately the only thing holding back the IQ. Everything else is literally heads and shoulder above any and everything else.

They looked fine in the E3 build

Power lines have been the bane of existence for AA since the dawn of time. Same in BF4. I think we'll just have to suspend disbelief until next gen.

Rushy said that has already been improved in the latest build. Will they completely eliminate it? Would be awesome if they could. With all the awesomeness they have pulled off already, we can't rule out anything from the realm of possibility.

At that angle, they looked fine even pre-E3. They become an issue only when the cables are more slanted/horizontal. I wonder if it has something to do with their specific AA implementation. The spatial orientation of the cables seems to make a difference.

Or just remove the powerlines. Problem solved.

Why is this like the only game that is always written in all caps?

Because you're supposed to yell it.

It didn't work D:

Though the two I showed it to play a lot of games, so I guess they can easily tell.

I think we can conclude at this point that the only people who will get fooled are parents and grandparents. It's going to take one more console generation for us to get fooled, at least when viewed in fullscreen :D

Imagine Skyrim using this graphics engine lol, would be insane, though open world so probably impossible

Don't think it'd be impossible at all depending on their LOD and streaming tech, coupled with some concessions or better optimisations. At the end of the day these systems now have 5GB+ of useable ram and far greater bandwidth at that. Open world is going to be much less of an issue than with previous generations, as partially evidenced by the slew of next gen open world games hitting the market.

That is the best looking racing game I've seen minus some high end sampling at 1800p on PC. But as far as overall looks, the weather looks incredible.

They definitely did mainly because you said so.

lol dude..don't even try to mention PC right now...there is no F'n comparison to this new DC footage..i dont care if your super sampling 8000p on the PC...this is simply on whole another league.

IQ would be better in the very high spec PC run racers of course, but actual graphical fidelity and tech? No contest. DriveClub is simply way ahead.

I want more games with stuff flapping in the wind.

GTA V on PS3:

Sub-pixel, well off into the distance and plenty smooth. I'd try to explain how I think it's done but just make a fool of myself.

damn i can't stop watching the videos lol... I guess what blows my mind the most is that this is a 1st year PS4 game!!

I always knew the PS4 would be mind blowing once developers start to harness its power...but for a 1st year PS4 game this blows my mind.

Wow just seeing this now. Such a cool atmosphere. This will actually let me enjoy driving in weather because I damn well hate doing it in real life.

Also, are any of the PS3 wheels compatible with PS4? I gotta play this with a wheel.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
Like someone said, if you take away the HUD and show this to someone, they would never think it was a game.

I showed this to my folks. I let my mother watch it loop once, told her "This is a video game". The reaction was a mix of "Wow. That's amazing. Wow. That looks real", basically speechlessness. What's the Turing Test equivalent of photorealistic graphics and presentation? I'm gonna say this passes that.

Is it even raining in the rear view mirror?

Ha! Sony once again fooling people with their shitty graphics. First Uncharted 4, now Driveclub, and soon Bloodborne at Gamescom. If Nintendo and MS can push therracing games at 60FPS, why not Sony? All smoke and mirrors.

Wow, very impressive. I always figured on just playing the PS+ version, but its looking like a full purchase is definitely warranted!

These are brilliant. This game series is going to be so good.

These are actual locations, right? I swear that Canadian gameplay looks familiar. Somewhere in the Fraser canyon.

HOLY SHITBALLS!!!

I hope Forza Horizon 2 is taking note. This is how a racer should look this generation. I like that it looks more like an arcade racer as well, which means it won't just look good, it'll be fun. Fuck that realistic bullshit because I've got a need, a need for speed!

I just did a quick Google search and found the following from an interview from E3 2013 with Rushy and a couple other Evo members:

Tracks are based off real locations but tweaked to a point where we’ve used DEM data to get the correct geometry of the landscapes of the particular areas. We are aiming to capturing the heart on the soul of the location, the particular road types found in each type of location, the types of corners, the feel and the wear on the tarmack, the flora etc.

So it may be based from where you're talking about, and just tweaked to make a track?

Well, the street in front looks a lot more than a little wet. Considering how early this build must be, they probably hadn't applied the effect on the rearview, which I think is rendered separately.

Its hard to tell with the resolution/compression in the video. Especially with how small the rearview is. I thought I saw rain, but its too hard to see whether it is actually there. As you said, if its not there, it should be in the final version.
