Driving Emotion Type-S owns my soul

Actually, I haven't played it. It seems to be universally hated, but I think I am going to pick it up just for the hell of it. What do you blokes think of the game?
 
There are usually very good reasons why games like Driving Emotion Type-S are almost universally hated.
 
Let's put it this way: The game bombed so hard that the developer, Escape, was disbanded by Square almost immediately after the game shipped.
 
It is the only PS2 game I've ever sold...ever. I bought it for $7 used, and sold it for like $5 six months later. There is just no reason to own Driving Emotion Type-S, I didn't even want it in my collection.

Go ahead and pick it up, but don't pay any more than $5. And I promise you won't play it more than once.
 
I've run across a couple Japanese fansites for the game, whose writers maintain that it can be very engaging and addictive once you get past the initial awkwardness of the unfamiliar controls. Haven't played it myself, though.
