DS Goemon downloaded demo impressions

It's a short demo, so these are gonna be short impressions.

In the demo, you control Goemon with the d-pad, and he is holding a remote control for a huge Goemon robot in the background. The Goebot is fighting a Sumobot, controlled by a smaller sumo character.

Remote control buttons are: move left / right, punch left / right, nose machine gun, death (focus by hitting the L and R shoulder buttons quickly, then you hit harder), guard and grip. It's straightforward, and you can usually combo three punches.

If you move out of the range of the robot, you get an "out of range" warning. Also, the small sumo guy can knock the remote control out of your hands, so you have to chase it and pick it up. Small things fly along on balloons and you can jump to catch them. Not sure what they do, though.

And, that's it for the demo.
Hopefully it's just a one-off event in the game. I don't think I'd enjoy it if all the boss fights are like this.

The trailer shows several boss fights (5 iirc), and only one of them is a robot fight like the demo, so no worries.

Most of the Goemon game (According to Konami's trailer) has to deal with 2D/3D platforming, and using the stylus to manipulate objects and enemies.

The sumo bot event is just a small part of it.

I'm also looking foward to the Goemon 1 & 2 SNES to GBA port if only it comes to America =/

I got my copy of the game last week - nothings better than Goemon on the go.

Did they get rid of the 200 symbol password system and add a decent save system?

Hah, I forgot how bad that was in SNES Gomeon. Kings Bounty for Genesis has to have had the worst passwords ever, though... It at least as long and it was virtually impossible to tell "l" from "1", "O" from "o" and so on. It was trial and error getting any of them to work.

:lol

Yes sir! Everything is saved to the cart, with 3 save files for each game. They also added a mode were you can play all the mini games (from both games) from the get go.

Usually in Goemon or at least the most recent ones, there would be 2 boss fights per stage. First would be on the ground as Goemon, then next it'd be a giant robot fight using Goemon Impact. In other words, this sounds pretty typical for a Goemon game :D

Pleeeaaaase be good. I need another good adventure gamee for my DS. I've already beat Super Mario twice, with all the stars. Yeah. I was bored.
