Wasn't the Elite controller itself not 200+ in the beginning?

Damn, a lot of PSVR2 comments. Some of you will be complaining when PSVR2 launches in the price range that most are suspecting ($400-500).

It could be $249 and doomed. Just cling to that wire. Cling to the wire. Don't get distracted. The wire. The wire.

So we can finally replace sticks in a gamepad if one of them starts to drift but it costs half of a standard controller price (25 EUR).

What controller costs €50? Not a DualSense, that's for sure, and neither did the DS4.

That said, this thing is ridiculously expensive. Or maybe this is just what "professional" controllers cost, I've never bought one. I don't really play games where I feel it would make a substantial difference.

maybe the wrong thread but just wanted to chime in about my recent experience with the MS series 2 elite controller. The first one I got was great with no issues but the left trigger started sticking when I went to press it.

I bought another one before trying to repair the first one and the L3 and R3 buttons (where you click the thumb sticks down, for stuff like sprinting in CoD) literally did not work. They only worked when the sticks were centered. If you tried to click L3 with the stick at an angle, nothing. No click, you would eventually find a "working spot" where it would give a tactile click and actually register the button press. Also, if you held the stick at an angle, managed to press L3 and then rotated the stick, it was all grindy and notchy and not smooth.

I figured this must have just been a bad controller so I returned it an got another. SAME EXACT problem! i looked it up and some people have managed to get one that doesn't do this, notably earlier adopters, but the majority were newer ones. I think they changed how it's built and there are serious design flaws with the elite v2.

Going back to a standard controller does not exhibit these flaws, L3 and R3 click with whatever position you have the sticks in, and they also rotate smoothly if you're trying to hold L3 or R3.

I was interested in this.
Now I'm not.

Perhaps in a couple of years during a Black Friday they'll sell it for 100€ or something.

Well, they would still complain if it was €199
It's just ironic, that even with inflation, they are releasing a product at the price the Elite 2 released for prior to inflation. Then MS came out with a "Core" version knocking $60 off the price due to only coming with the controller and no components.

I am sure Sony will do the same eventually as well.

People have some really short term memories.

and the Scuf PS5 controllers are $200-$250 but nobody was outraged

Looks sick. If it ever goes on sale for $150 I'd probably cop.

Obviously people in this thread have never looked at SCUF controllers or anything of the sort. $200 is pretty normal asking price. Hell it's cheaper than the PS5 SCUF controller.

I do not think this is a bad if controller is a nice upgrade, only small percentage of people anyways buy expensive products. IMO this also bodes well for the Pro model, they should not release a gimped 400$ pro like they did with PS4. It has to be at least 500$. I think PS5 slim will be 300$ by then so people can choose which one based on their budget and needs.

If this is 200, no way in fuck is a VR headset and 2 controllers 400.

Get ready for $499.
That's what I'm guessing the price will be. $500 if they don't want to take a big hit on each one sold, and 400 if they don't mind taking a bigger hit and to be priced similarly to Quest 2.

Thank you but no thank you... Will wait for a 'cheap' package, without the case, cable, etc, just the controller, like that 'cheap' Xbox Elite or try those DIY back buttons adapters.

If it had four back buttons/paddles, I could maybe, just about justify getting one.

But really, for that for a controller, it has to be perfect. You can get decent custom moulded IEMs for fucking cheaper.

44% of the cost of a PS5 itself. 55% of the cost of a digital PS5.

67% the price of a Switch OLED

84% the price of a Series S

No thanks! This is for people with more money than brains. I'll just use the controller in the box.
100% the cost of a Dualsense Edge

But yeah I agree. Fuck that. I don't like how Xbox started this trend of "pro controllers" but I suppose as long as it's optional then whatever.

lol Sony is crazy. I got an 8bitdo Pro 2 for $40 during the recent Amazon sale and I guess that's the only controller I'll be using for a while. Hope it actually lasts for some time cause official controllers are too expensive for my blood.

Looks nice but way too expensive. Sony is really going crazy with their pricing these days.

I've never played with one of these "premium" controllers so it's Day 1 for me.

As usual with anything Sony, people try to attack it with price but the sales actually WENT UP after the PS5 price increase. Stay pressed 🤣

It will sold out and people will pay scalpers prices for them. Bookmark this 😜

DS4s used to be on sale 1-2 times every year for 40 USD / 40 EUR but that was before 2020. Dualsense was 50-60 EUR few times already.

The trailer along with the price(even thought there's not much difference in price) made me lean further into the Victrix direction right now.

Ummm I'm definetly conflicted over this, I want to try it but Dualsense is already a fantastic controller and probably the money is better spent on something totally new like the PSVR2 which is going to be released in the same timeframe.

This is just wrong. Pro consoles, pro controllers... market segregation.
If this sells well and it will... why wouldn't they hold back features from standard controller to put it in the more expensive version?!
Why would they fix issues with standard controller if they can $$$ for it in the pro?
besides - Normal controller is very good and you can have 3 of them for the price

Yes, $180 for the Elite, then the Elite 2 with bag and components was $190-200.

But ohhh you knowwww.

Both are expensive but the extra buttons in competitive FPS did make a difference for me.

The elite has at least 4 back buttons. The entire point of a pro controller like the scuff, with 2 I’m not sure on the point it’s a half way point I guess.

I really want to get one of these but very hard to justify at that price. I can afford it but certainly times are tougher than they were the last few years. I don’t drink, smoke, fritter money away. So gaming is what I spend money on to relax and enjoy.

£200 for a controller is a lot of cash but if the build quality is really good I may pick up one down the line. A week to mull over if I preorder but at this stage I don’t think I’ll preorder and just pick up down the line. Have 2 dual senses that work perfectly fine right now.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
$200 is just slightly cheaper than the price of 3 AAA games so I don’t get the complain.

Does anyone else have hand cramps while using the DualSense?
Seriously, never felt that before with a controller. It's very uncomfortable.
Hand cramps and random activation of R3. Like random melee attacks when I'm just aiming and shooting in COD. Also, $200 lol.

the Dualsense is one of the most uncomfortable controllers I've ever used.

the shape of the handles is bizzare to say the least. it bulges outwards where the top of your palm rests and curves inward where your ringfinger and pinky res... both of these designs choices are baffling.
