No, you cannot pre-order the game. If you see some online store saying "We are taking pre-orders", they're just trying to get your money (they usually also make up their own supposed "insider release date info", too). There is no release date set, we are not taking pre-orders for the game. End of story.

Once we begin taking pre-orders, believe us, you'll know about it. :)

Seriously, does anyone really care about this game any more?

Probably not but it makes for great joke threads to trot out every year. ;)

Haha, can you imagine that your exaggerated gag, five years ago would still be optimistic in 2005?
The funny thing is 2005 looked like an awful lot away when that estimation was made.

is 3D Realms a publicly traded company? If they are, they really ought to be investigated for fraud by this point.

I love a good DNF thread too. It's just funny when ever one of the news sites reports an update on this game, as I can't see it doing all that well at retail any more unless it just kicks-total ass. Games this long in development usually turn out to be a mess, but we'll see I suppose. Until it's released, bash away though! :D

Yeah the game can't stand on name alone now, as it could have done if they released only a few years after duke3d. It has to win everyone over by merit. So after 8+ years, they had better have something that blows you away or they will be an even bigger joke than they already are.

Hey, wait. I don't think he was really far off with the use of "threat". George B has been threatening us with this so called game for a very long time now. He just doesn't live up to his threats is all. :D

Duke Nukem Forever is taking forever is come out...LOL!

How considerate that they're making it compatible with Windows 98.

Windows 98 wasn't even out yet when development started, was it?

Probably not. I know Duke Nukem 3D itself was a full-on DOS game.

This better still run on my old P155Mhz under Win95.

.......Fancy schmancy Win98 compatibility.

It'll work under DOS, but you'll need one bad-ass tweaked out boot floppy. Memmaker at the ready!

The funniest thing is that the game will be released.

3D Realms is going to have a hell of pressure. It will be better for them if the game is awesome. Because if not, all the jokes about the game are going to be much worse.

This game has to be better than hl2 i think for it to be accepted.

I mean after so long, you would think something would eventuate.

The one bad thing i see is the use of the Doom 3 engine, but then again there is Quake Wars, which looks good with the engine.

I really do wonder about the people who work at 3D Realms. Seriously. Do they just kind of come in for a few hours a day? Do they know that their game is never going to ship because of inept management?

I imagine that the average employee comes in and draws some nice high poly boobies. Maybe puts dynamics on them or something so they bounce around in-engine, whatever engine they're using, anyway. Then Broussard comes around and sees your work and goes "MMMMMMMMMMM BOOBIES" and retreats to his office to download porn and post on the 3D Realms forums or some shit. It's like all of 3DR/Duke Forever is a giant joke that everyone is in on except Broussard?
