These are exciting times, we're closing in on launch, and we've just initiated a major preview beta where hundreds of journalists and content creators are playing the early parts of the game and will be releasing their coverage on April 25th.

These past few weeks we've been steadily gearing up, releasing the Character Creator & Benchmark Mode back in February, starting pre-orders in March, and continuing to release new livestreams, videos, and details to keep you informed.

We want to thank everyone who has shared in our excitement. It's been a joy reading all your comments across the various community channels.

Our ongoing Persistent Closed Beta is also continuing in full force, with regular updates, and the feedback we've been collecting from beta testers has been invaluable in making sure we can launch a quality game. We have a very active Discord going with our beta testers where our developers can interact directly with them to ensure we collaboratively make Dune: Awakening a better game.

Thanks to this process, we've concluded that with a bit more time to cook, we can act on a lot more of the feedback we know is important to our beta testers.

As such, we will be moving the release date of Dune: Awakening to June 10th, with head start launching on June 5th. This is not a decision we take lightly, we know everyone is very excited to get playing, but these three extra weeks will give us the time needed to make improvements that will lead to a better gameplay experience from day one.

We're also excited about the fact that this will allow us to do a large-scale beta weekend next month where even more of you will get the opportunity to play the game and share your feedback. We will release more information about this soon.

Dune: Awakening is a beast of a game. This is multiplayer survival on a massive scale, and we're making gameplay and technical strides not seen in the genre before. We want to make sure we stick the landing.

Also, don't forget to tune into today's livestream on Steam, YouTube, and Twitch, where our developers will be showing and talking more about the combat in Dune: Awakening.

With best regards from the entire Dune: Awakening team here at Funcom

Beta starting tomorrow. Nobody on GAF interested in this one lol?

I played the playtest, while i cant say much because its under NDA, if you like survival games or even funcom games you probably gonna love this one.

I'm pretty excited! Conan Exiles is my most played game by a huge margin, so I'm ready for this one. Been enjoying Funcom's sandstorms since the launch of Anarchy Online.

How do I get a key?
Got an email this morning saying there are 3 ways to get a chance at a key. 1. there is a button on the game's steam page to opt in. 2. sign up at their website 3.they are gonna have a stream on the 10th where they will give away some keys.

The game is shaping up to be a massive hit. I think its top10 wishlisted game on Steam and last beta went really well.

Anyone playing the beta?

Tried it for a couple of hours just now, seems pretty good so far. Controls are fine, the gameplay is decent, visuals are very cool and the vibes are awesome. It's fucking sick to see the sun set over the Arakis dunes and then suddenly see Shai Hulud burst out from the ground. Awesome.

I don't want to keep playing because I probably have to do it all over again if I decide to pick up the game, but first impressions are good.

Im in the closed playtest so i played it a few weeks ago. Game is great, but janky af and sadly the endgame pvp will be awful. Melee combat is really bad in this and you rubberband all over the place. Its the usual Funcom jank so dont expect it to be fixed ever. I still think im gonna play it, because the vibe is great and game has tons of content.

I thought what I played so far was pretty good, but the PVP looks REALLY questionable. They did a big stream yesterday where a number of streamers played against one another and they kept using knives only. Which sounds fine, however you can just keep hitting an enemy to the point where they can't do anything but just take the hits and it takes FOREVER to kill them. It was honestly pretty bizarre. Here's a few Lirik clips for context.

I very much am. My gaming PC is a ROG Ally X and the benchmark ran fine enough on it, so I've allowed myself to get excited for this one. I know it's coming to consoles later, but, I don't wanna wait.

As I've gotten older, delays have evolved from soul crushing to a minor bummer. Their words seem pretty genuine, and I want this game to be awesome; I say let 'em cook as long as they need.

Yes this was hilarious yesterday. I think this AD streamer event did more harm than good to the game lol. Fucking lirik :D

It REALLY did, I feel. I just happened to watch it live right when this was going on and it was so questionable. No idea why they'd even think showcasing PVP would be a good idea in its current state, lol.

It's Dune, so I'm interested, but I've yet to meet a mmo that I've liked as a single player guy.
I've tried Neverwinter, Conan, and Elder Scrolls Online and none of them were fun as a single player experience.
Being that this is Funcom, I have little faith that this one will be any different other than the setting.

Yep, the combat looks terrible

Its servicable, especially when it comes to survival games. Gunplay is decent, melee is okay, can be jank. Later you get a lot more tools and abilities. Game just has an insanely addictive gameplay loop to it and they did good with the DUNE IP

It seems to be par of the course for every survival/crafting/building game in existence since forever.

People told me how good the combat is in stuff like enshrouded or valheim or grounded and my answer is always a dry laugh and a pity look.

I've been watching some streamers play over the past few days. It seems like a decent survival game but it's not really an MMO as I was led to believe. It's basically Conan Exiles but Dune.

Its a lot more than "conan but dune". They dropped the MMO tag, because its not a traditional MMORPG, but has lots of elements from mmos, like social hubs, deep desert with 300 players, trading etc.

Not saying I don't believe you, but I've yet to see any of that in the streams I've tuned into. It's mostly just Dune-themed survival gameplay but with janky combat, which is fine if you're looking for a new survival game to sink your teeth into.

But I was initially attracted to this game because of the MMO angle and it's just not apparent.
