Hola...I have an NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG drive for my computer and have been having problems with it lately. To wit: It reads DVDs, Cds, and burns CDs, but won't burn DVDs or even recognize when I have a blank DVD in. I put a DVD-R in and Windows pops up the option to burn a CD instead, but even going that route I can't add files to the burn queue. Nero and Adobe Premier won't burn data either. I've tried three different batches of blank DVDs to boot, to no avail.

O tech savvy gurus of NeoGAF, have ye any words of wisdom? Does it sound like a firmware update thang? Or something more insidious? Thanks!

Did you install any games that had StarForce copy protection on them? Thats what fucked up my NEC DLDVD-RW drive

Hmm...Not that I know of. The last game I installed was Oblivion. Though I have ripped DVDs using DVD Decrypter. Is there a way to check for StarForce?
