Techland announced today the updated global launch dates for Dying Light. The game will have a worldwide digital release on PC of January 27, 2015. In North and South America, the digital release and physical copies for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be available at the same day.

In Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia, Dying Light will have a digital release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One of January 28, 2015. Physical copies of the game will be released in these territories on February 27, 2015. Additionally all of the physical preordered versions will include two DLC packs, Cuisine & Cargo and Ultimate Survivor Bundle, free of charge.

Subsequently, the “Be the Zombie” multiplayer mode, where players take control of the Night Hunter and can invade others’ games, will be now be available for free on all platforms everywhere.

The above statement was accompanied by a letter from the Dying Light team at Techland:

Dear gamers,
As you already know, today we detailed our launch timing for Dying Light. Although the changes affect only the release of boxed copies in certain territories, we want to show all of you our appreciation for your continued support. Thus, we’re really happy to announce that “Be the Zombie” will be available for free to everyone, on all platforms, in all territories.

We’ll also be giving away extra weapon dockets to everyone who pre-ordered Dying Light and signed up at Dockets.DyingLightGame.com.
We want to thank you for your patience and support in this matter and can’t wait for you to enjoy playing Dying Light and invading other players’ game in the “Be the Zombie” mode.

Let me guess the pre-order numbers where lower and the backslash was bigger than you expected.

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
Might get the game now if the reviews are positive, love me some next gen open worlds, also great idea to make the be the zombie mode free instead of hiding it behind a pre-order incentive because it actually looks quite fun. :D

Only for disk copies because of a delay, let's not pretend they actually decided to reverse the preorder bonus because it was gross, it's payback for the delay.

Damage control initiated.

Just saw this on Twitter. Good that they're making it free, but in principal I still don't like that they were trying to do. Nonetheless, it might be a game I check out in a few months when the price has dropped. I've no interest in right now.

The hero Los Santos deserves
Despite all this that they're trying to do I still recommend that you wait with your pre-order until the reviews are out.

Personally, I will only get this when it goes on sale on steam. The stuff they've tried to pull with all the pre-order incentives and attempting to lock out content is such a shitty business practice.

Now we just need evolve to follow suit with making its preorder monster dlc free to everyone. It really is a terrible precedent if crap like that is ok.

That pre-order support.

"Pre-order the game and get exclusive content."

"Thanks for the pre-orders! Everybody else who didn't pre-order also gets the content now as well!"

They giving us anything else to replace that, or... ?

They should have reduced the extortionate PSN/XBL store price to say 'sorry'.

All according to plan. Now customers will pay 70 euros for a digital copy they can't trade in instead of much less than that for tradable retail copy. In North America it wouldn't work as well because retail and digital prices are much closer to each other.

No but seriously, a month long delay on retail copies is something else. You can get new copies to stores much faster than that.

A month's heads up on whether the game is any good or not.

So the NA physical version is still slated for Tuesday? My Amazon preorder still says Tuesday and the news doesn't mention this territory...

Reviews are pretty much being held back till release day too right? Yeah this is looking like them trying to save face in advance....

So just the Additional DLC Pre-order bonus is free to all who purchase the game or does it mean its a free standalone mode for everybody? 99% sure its the previous but that would be a good way to get more people into the game.

What strikes me the most, it seems that Techland is doing the PR/Marketing/Logistics while we don't hear anything from WB. Are they already busy with the next Batman marketing campaign and don't give a shit about Dying Light?

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
The mode isn't free. You have to buy the game to get it.

Scunmy PR, you're not giving anything away for free.

Not according to Xbox Live. It still says January 30 on the store. PSN says January 28.

That's... still next week.

Anyway, free DLC for messing launches up seems to be a recurring thing these days which is a bit grim. Kinda sympathetic as they'll have a hard deadline to have something out for, but this combo'd with the release day review copies is a bit of a concern.

Also sucks for pre-orders I guess?

I know. But it's not the official date.
