Dying Light Global Launch Dates Confirmed, Be the Zombie Mode Now Free

The mode isn't free. You have to buy the game to get it.

Scunmy PR, you're not giving anything away for free.

What a insightful post, thanks. Anyways, I'm glad to see them drop the silly preorder bonus. Hopefully the game turns out all right. Best Buy GCU discount and certificates made it only cost me $41 so I figured it was worth a shot.

Glad to see they came to their senses with the preorder nonsense. I'll consider getting the game now if it has favorable reviews.

When I go to xbox.com it says 1/27 on there. US region.

Not in EU!

In Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia, Dying Light will have a digital release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One of January 28, 2015. Physical copies of the game will be released in these territories on February 27, 2015.

A month until the retail release? Holy crap. Techland/WB better hope this game has good word of mouth.

It's a good thing they caved in regarding the pre-order bonus, but a month's delay for several regions is inexcusable, and the game should be cheaper in those regions.

What strikes me the most, it seems that Techland is doing the PR/Marketing/Logistics while we don't hear anything from WB. Are they already busy with the next Batman marketing campaign and don't give a shit about Dying Light?

FWIW, Techland owns the IP, so it makes sense that they'd be the ones doing the PR.

Publishers almost always handle the PR and marketing. Unless Techland & WB have an unusual agreement whereby WB are only doing the production and distribution, this kind of feels like they aren't trying because they don't give a shit, and/or they're expecting it to bomb. Certainly from some of the comments from Techland it sounds like there's not much warmth between the two.

Is it a bad thing that they saw the move was unpopular and all around stupid and decided to rectify it? Need a new target for Internet outrage now?

that price..
is
a
joke.
Once again welcome to game prices outside of the USA :(

I wonder who actually buys games at these absurd high prices. And now the US price,

WTF is wrong with you publishers... Why don't the console makers enforce some kind of price equality to protect their userbase/costumers.

Still not interested in the game. It looks pretty boring with a ton of fetch quests.

This one might be different but dead island was pretty videogamey instead of fetch questy.
It started out terrible with indeed fetch quests and crap for the first hour on the beach, but then it turned into a traditional videogame where you explored a bit of the island, then the creepy hotel etc etc and it was about progressing through the story and environment rather than assassin's creed style awful collectathons/grocery lists/chores

Now we just need evolve to follow suit with making its preorder monster dlc free to everyone. It really is a terrible precedent if crap like that is ok.

Arn't they still making the monster? It be a bit shitty to ask them to give you stuff free that they make after the game is released. If you wanted everything free then you wouldn't get post release content.

Now the practice of DLC altogether and the way companies are developing and promoting it before they release the initial title then yes that is shitty. Evolve has that problem as it seems to have been developed as a title that could potentially generate endless extra content. 2K probably got a stiffy from that meeting.

We do get free new maps though and play against new monsters/hunters which to me makes Evolve actually handling the inevitable DLC better than most other AAA titles out there which lock you out completely.

Dying Light tho...they were marketing this as an essential feature. Not just an extra character.

This forum is so positive.

The latter point is totally valid though. Our digital pricing on PSN/XBL is completely ridiculous. Especially considering margins on digital sales must be higher than retail because you don't have to worry about physical production costs or the retailer's cut...

Imo this game should be discounted digitally for preorders to normal retail price.

Good move on letting everyone have the ability to invade. Whoever had the bright idea of putting that as a pre-order bonus should be fired. Now, can't wait for the game.

Might be a good tactic to delay physical releases, so the first wave of buyers won't return their copies to gamestop and so on.

I'd have to believe that Techland wanted to take the reigns on this one, given the fallout over their split from Deep Silver and the Dead Island IP. Have any of the promotional bits featured anyone from WBIE handling them? From what I've seen, it's always been Techland reps.

You know that 69.99 is pretty much the standard for games in europe right? Even gamestop here in Ireland is starting to bump them up to 74.99

Nice suprise! Still not sure if I will buy it now or when on sale, but the game looks genuinely fun. Coming from someone who thought Dead Island was really meh.

This is really awesome news that the backlash about the DLC has actually caused a change (at least thats what Im taking away from this)

It's the standard price if you like to get ripped off. Otherwise, Amazon is selling dying light at 55€. (in france at least)

A lot of store in the Netherlands still sells games for 59.99. I've never payed €69.99 for a standard game and never will.

There's only one store that I know that sells games for €69.99 and that is gamemania.

Just because something is standard, which it isn't by the way, doesn't mean that I/we should accept it and keep our mouth shut about it.

Physical copies of the game will be released in these territories on February 27, 2015. Additionally all of the physical preordered versions will include two DLC packs, Cuisine & Cargo and Ultimate Survivor Bundle, free of charge.

So do NA region preorders get those two DLC packs too, or just the regions that were delayed?

Shitty that they most likely looked at the preorder numbers and said, "yea maybe you guys are right" and did a 180. Fine incentivize fans that are there day one and give them DLC, but don't ever lock out main content from people probably paying the same $60 a little down the road. Lesson learned, and Im glad they came to their senses...

So I can't vent about us Brits being royally screwed over by digital prices?

Nah, vent away. Looking at those images above for Dying Light, €70 is actually £52.60 so we're paying more than Europe as well! And £55 is $82.60, while over in America they pay fucking $60, or £40 on the nose for all new releases. Takes the piss, and it's why I never buy anything digitally unless it's got a steep discount.

Although I don't think we quite have it the worst - I think in Scandinavia and Australia they pay more than we do here in the UK for new digital games.

Ah, they're not locking content out for pre-orders, I can buy the game now! I'll wait for the physical copy, give it time to be beta tested.

They announced it before we had even seen a screen of the game.

"It's not ready" doesn't work here.
