Rented Devil Kings; it SUCKS. Dynasty Warriors 3 graphics meets shitty character design total. After beating AZURE DRAGON and DEVIL KING's respective campaigns and having no fun whatsoever doing so, I put in the BIGGEST, BADDEST GAME OF THE YEAR: Dynasty Warriors 5.

If you don't own Dynasty Warriors 5 -- PS2 and Xdude -- I fucking hate you. I hope your scrotum grows spider legs, tears itself free from that wretched grotto of pale flesh and lard you call your crotch, and stuffs itself in your mouth until you choke.

I live in Bothell and work in Redmond. DW5 is a pretty big visual upgrade to DW4 and I've never played DW4XL. I'd sell 'em back and get DW5 + DW4 Empires for the win.

I still like SW:XL the most(skilltrees! Mini-quests! Uber-rewards!), but I gotta agree that Devil Kings is a total turd. Even at the most basic level, the standard hits feel like they just whiff through enemies, and the environmental graphics are of DW2 calibur.

Out of curiosity, how do the DW sequels generally differ? Is it mainly just story, or are there major gameplay improvements?

I bought the first and enjoyed it for a while, but it got kinda boring after a while so I never considered any of the sequels.

It may be awhile till we get Dynasty Warriors 2 on PSP, though. Koei has Samurai Warriors planned next for PSP. Dynasty Warriors 2 PSP probably won't be out till late 2006/early 2007.

Samurai Warriors PSP supports up to 4 player co-op. I hope that isn't only ad hoc.

So for now my co-op hopes rest on the Xbox 360 special edition. I don't want to have to buy the DS abomination.

DW1-DW2: Genre switch, DW2 turned the series into the hack-'n-slash we know today

DW2-DW3: Added about 20 new characters, more charge attacks, air recovery, many more stages, and 2 player co-op

DW3-DW4: Added 3 new characters, and the Kingdom mode, stage progression was also changed and many stages were redesigned

Don't know about DW5 as I don't have it yet.
