+1 purchase.

Die Squirrel Die said:If they can't get it to be as good as DW3 then I at least hope it's DW4 level, not SW like at all.

Mrbob said:Eh, that other game is from From Software? That means it'll be mediocre at best. I hope not, looks hot.
Mrbob said:The only From Software game I thought was halfway decent is the original Armored Core. But I have not played Metal Wolf Chaos. At the same time, I'm not a huge fan of mech games. Their Dynasty Warriors rip off game is more to my style of games I like. Since From Software developed it the game has a good chance to come to NA. Have you played this Dynasty Warriors rip off game? I want to know if it is any good! And how this game sets itself apart from Dynasty Warriors.

According to the GA front page, DW5 will expand on the stronghold concept from Empires, which totally fucking rocks. This series just keeps going from strength to strength, fuck the rehash whiners. Can't wait to see where they take it on the PSX3. Dare I dream of persistant corpses, insane draw distances, and even larger armies wedded to a full-fledged strategy game with hundreds of unique heroes? XD
This will be the largest Dynasty Warriors game ever. All of the characters will have their own story, and the events will be viewed from the Warrior's own perspective. In comparison to the previous sequel, Dynasty Warriors 4, there were just four main storylines for the Wu, Shu, Wei and Unaligned forces. The game's main mode, Musou mode, includes brand new stories for all of the characters including one of the newest Dynasty Warriors, Cao Pi.
The popular "battlefield stronghold system" that appeared in DW4: Empires has been upgraded and will be included in Dynasty Warriors 5. In this system, when a force secures a stronghold the number of enemy soldiers is reduced, and the securing force gains an advantage in battle.

The game looks better much better, the background detail is increased, the fog is reduced, adding more attacks for characters, individual storylines, more strategical elements added. Wow. Koei is going out for this final PS2 installment. Quick and dirty upgrade this is not as the naysayers like to joke about.
Die Squirrel Die said:It does sound like there's more of a jump from DW4 than DW3 to DW4. I'm hoping we get more than one new warrior per side this time. Going from DW2 to DW3 you had a huge increase in the number of playable characters, plus the increase from 4 to 6 move combos. Only a handful of new characters (1 per side for Wu, Shu and Wei plus a couple for the 'others') and the same combo systems, contributed to DW4 feeling less fresh.
Mrbob said:I wish DW5 had in improved Empire Mode from DW4 Empires but this will probably be saved for an expansion. Maybe it does as new info seems to be leaking out on the official site every Friday.

DW5 is sounding hot! I loved the "stronghold" mechanic in Empires. No longer could you just charge into the enemie's camp and defeat the enemy right off, you had to attack and hold strongholds all over the map, and encroach your way to the enemy. Made battles a lot more strategic and epic.
