Is this confirmed? Havne't seen a thing in Koei's official site. It's a terrible idea considering the power of GBA...

*sigh*

Well, maybe it'll be awesome 2D affair. It's possible...

I've heard rumors of the DS version being 2D as well. Man I hope this isn't one and the same game. Also, I hope the DS version isn't some offshoot port of the GBA version with some touch screen additions added.

It'll be interesting to see some pics and find out what type of game this is. However, I'm not too thrilled about a 2D version of this series.

The DS game uses SD sprites and is more of a strategy game from what I understand. It was done by Division 2, while the PSP game was done by Division 4.

Is Division 4 Omega Force? I'm not too keen about the inner workings of Koei, but I thought Omega Force was contracted out by Koei to develop games and not owned by them. Omega Force is the name of the developer for PS2 Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors, and i believe they are also the ones behind DW PSP.

Make it like Final Fight and I'm sold

Pleeease no. -___- Take a massive 3D brawler and restrict it to a 2D plane with a couple enemies onscreen? Yikes. I hope this goes the more strategic route too because making it a 2D brawler would be boring.

Omega Force is Division 4 actually. They were always an internal Koei team, but recently moved into having their own full Division from what I understand. They also made the Winback games.

Division 2 is essentially the handheld team now, doing all DS & PSP projects (besides DW PSP). Not sure how else Koei's teams work out, though I think Division 1 is mainly RotK/Nobunga/PTO/Sim games and Division 3 is online games.

A large part of DW's appeal (besides the injection of strategy into the stale BEU formula) is the sheer number of enemies and allies onscreen and the convincing sense of scale with respect to the battlefield. A 2D recreation will not have the same impact, I'd guess.

Why not, I'm sure the screen could get pretty full of sprites too and epic battle pretty well recreated. Ever play Dragon Force?

It is, they stated this in an interview regarding the PSP and the DS versions. They are done by different teams.

Cool. I had heard it would have an SD/kiddie look, but I did not hear it would be 2D. That's cool. Maybe that different direction will actually make it good.

I could see this actually being good if they do it right. The gameplay of DW could be expressed just as well in isometric 2D.

The one thing I'm worried about is how the GBA chokes and slows down with Guardian Heroes Advance. How is it suppose to recreate the epic battles from the 3D version? Now, the DS could reproduce some awesome 2D sprite fighting action without much slowdown. That would be cool. But I don't have too much faith in a GBA version with tons of sprites flying around.

Jerk! :lol

Sorry. I always try to get into Dynasty Warriors because in theory it should be fun. I mean, you're basically placed in the middle of a battle field! But imho, the combat needs to have a considerable amount of added depth and on top of that a bit more variety to the tedium. Fighting masses just isn't that fun when you have to do it over and over.

Well, I was thinking more for DS actually... something like a mix between Guardian Heroes, Shining Soul and Dragon Force maybe, with hundereds of SD spirites battling it out on an isometric world using the 2nd screen for strategic direction of the overall battle maybe.

I don't think this GBA game is really Dynasty Warriors per se, more likely it's Koei's recently announced Sangokushi Eiketuden SRPG.

Yeah, actually that might be a lot of fun. Kind of like that old Robin Hood game for the NES. Man that game rocked. Can't think what it was called.

um... might it be Robin Hood? (colon Prince of Thieves)

That's what we'll see in the next episode! Stay tuned!

I don't care for Dynasty Warriors; If they implemented some GTA style features (ie. freedom) and took abit of time with it (instead of kaning the same bloke 1000 times) it could be good.

So, the DS version is going SD AND 2D? I hadn't heard. Then what the hell is the point of this GBA one? I could understand either one or the other, but both?

Well, I'm curious, at least.

What do you mean GTA style freedom? This comment confuses me. You want to bang hookers in next Dynasty Warriors game? You can already jack horses man GTA stole that from Dynasty Warriors! :P

Anyway, I found an older article with an interview on the heads of the DS and PSP Dynasty Warriors team here:

http://ds.ign.com/articles/563/563187p1.html

Some interesting comments about how the PSP version didn't have much development time and lacked in software support plus how the DS version is going to be simplified.

Trade card game is the GBA version.....! :(

DS version is going to be 2D. But reading that interview on that IGNDS link I posted they already mentioned the game will be simplified...

What's the Japanese name for Dynasty Warriors? Because the game I'm looking at here in my Famitsu Cube is coming in Jan. 27th from Koei and it looks a hell of a lot like DW. Plus it looks just like turn-based strategy. It's genre is Simulation RPG.

I sent it to someone, so if they wish to post the scan then I'll leave it up to them. I'd rather avoid any conflict with the TOAs.

evilromero,

thanks, but
this is not the pic of Dynasty Warriors Advance
these 2 old SLG games are KOEI plans to port to GBA from PC

yes, these 2 games and Shin Shin Sangoku Mosou have the similar background
they also come from Shin Sangoku Shi series
