Off topic: It is also the reason why I enjoyed Stellar blade not just because of its pretty graphics and beautiful protagonist but because of its old school style action game.

Playing this nonstop, it's so addictive. Kind of annoying when you lose a battle because of your stupid allies dying/fleeing cos you had advanced too deep to get back to them in time. The sorcery stuff is OK for now but I hope it's not overused in every big battle later. I wonder if there are levels with other elements like Sengoku Basara 3 had, cool little events happening like boats advancing/landing and how it had some monster/mechanical/whatever non humanoid bosses (even if its battle system didn't really handle 1 on 1 so great back then). Its map & objectives were clearer and loot system better and more involving (other than characters being tied to one weapon style of course) but I'm still in the early game and just got the first fists weapon. I'll probably be replaying Samurai Heroes on Dolphin (or maybe RPCS3 is a better choice nowadays) after I'm done with this, lol, it's so good..!

I've only played a few of the spin-off/cross-over games. I wanted to like them, but I just couldn't get into the 1 vs 10,000 battle system. I'm tempted to check this one out st some point, but not at full price.

Anybody think loading takes a bit too long on regular SSD? Like from map to battle & back or whatever. Hope it's not doing something stupid like limit loading by the framerate of the icon or some shit. Well it's not *that* long and it says a lot that minor thing is one of my biggest gripes with it, lol.

Edit: I put the game on HDD just to see the loading and yes, it's definitely longer now, but the game's otherwise completely unaffected and plays just fine, if you're hurting for SSD space you can put it on your HDD but if the loading annoys you already on SSD yeah, it's definitely a bit worse now

Can't get a fact that a casual hack and slash game does better overworld map than final fantasy tried to do it for years

Would be nice if they remake FF8 and 9 follow this world map style rather than like FF7 remake map style

How does this game compare? Something to play after this one (if craving for more Musou)? Seems like they tried a similar approach to gameplay and story progression with it back then with not having a slew of selectable characters but following a specific story path etc.

I never played it because I heard the PC port is jank, which was the case for all KT PC ports back then. I believe Sanada and Samurai Warriors 4-II are the worst of the bunch.

If you haven't already played Warriors Orochi 3/4 I'd go with them, or Samurai Warriors 5.

You likely already have this one, but it's a good time.

I think I'm deep enough into this game to declare Origins the best Warriors game ever.

Really fun, and although it's a joyous dopamine-delivering button masher on the surface there are lots of deeper gameplay elements with new skills and upgrades that are still manifesting many hours into the game. The storyline moves on at a good pace, and despite the large cast remains easy to follow. Perfect for Three Kingdoms first timers, and the power fantasy of being thronged by hundreds of combatants and coming out on top has never been done better than here in Origins.

What a turnaround going from the series low point of Dynasty Warriors 9 to this new high. Well done Koei Tecmo!
