NEW YORK -- E! Entertainment Television said Wednesday it will stop airing new episodes of "The Howard Stern Show." The last episode will be seen July 8.

The televised version of Stern's radio show has been a staple on E! since 1994, shown weeknights at 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. and then again in the middle of the night.

Stern won't immediately disappear. E! said it would be airing reruns of the show — more than 2,000 were filmed over the years — for the foreseeable future.

"As `The Howard Stern Show' evolves into a premium service, it is time for our late-night programming to evolve as well," said Ted Harbert, the network's president.

Stern's popular radio program will move to Sirius Satellite Radio in January. His manager, Don Buchwald, did not immediately return a call for comment on E! Entertainment's decision.

I wonder if Howard will get the show on Spike or something.

I never really liked the E! Show much, anyway. It's almost always porn stars and sluts... the parts I usually tune out of while listening to his radio show. I tend to like the opening hour or so and Robin's news best. I've never felt that it's a good representation of his radio show. Not that it's trying to be, of course. But because of that, it gives people the wrong impression of what his radio show is like.

They didn't "pull the plug" on the show. His contract with E! is up in 2 weeks. He said he will talk more about what will happen to the show after the contract thing is over.

He's been hinting that there is something going on, but won't say what network he's going to move to.

The Spike thing is the cartoon Howard Stern The Highschool Years. I believe Howard is moving to a pay movie channel (like HBO or Showtime) for his new show, where he can't be censored.

Also, the E! Howard Stern Show is the highest rated thing on E!. E! is spinning!

Perfect case of why I don't really care for the E! show. I don't think it's a good representation of the radio show at all, and gives people the wrong idea of what he's about. I'm a Stern fan, but have never cared much for the E! show. Try listening to the radio. It's MUCH better.

And it's usually always of stuff from the show that will get the highest rating, like tits and ass. I don't care much for t&a, but I still enjoy Stern and the rest of his crew because there is more to his show than E! or the t&a.

quite the opposite for me. o&a's XM stream is the only radio i listen to besides for NPR (how's that for a dichotomy). i can't stand Stern, but i can appreciate what O&A do as their act isn't an attempt at 'shock jock' radio. it's just two guys (three now) having a laugh at anything that comes their way.

Howard had a gag order put on O&A when they were with Infinity and now he dumps out of any mention of them unless it's Artie making a joke. Why? Because they make him look like a fool, and he knows it.
