I don't know what people are expecting the conference is for the general press which is where they get buzz from. It is for the 30 sec on msnbc that show their new software. This is the empahsis they are putting in their marketing and PR. Hardcore stuff will probably be shown later and their end of year line up sometime during the next 2 days. They know that if they are to will it will be because of the expanded market not the core. It is really that simple.

Midi actually uses real samples. Ever heard of wavetables? FM synthesis isn't exactly common these days, and WiiMusic definitely doesn't use FM.
