E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

That pic of Miyamoto with the kids is actually mind blowing because he is creating a level in Mario Maker. Like how freaking cool is that? He did that game almost 30 years ago and create a level should have taken months back then and now he can do it in like 5 minutes with Mario Maker.

Loved that cutscene at the end of STEAM. I don't understand the criticisms of the art design. I think it looks cohesive in an outrageous sort of way. It honestly reminds me of Batman Brave and the Bold.

This game looks so great. I'm happy that they worked out that weird hybrid 60/30 fps stuff to keep it looking so good. I'm excited to drop my Vita for my 3DS for a while.

Sure, it's possible that they just happened to want to make this game that's crammed with things that they would think are popular outside of Japan such as American comics, third person shooters, and steampunk design. But as Intelligent System's first turn-based strategy to follow the massive success story (compared to previous Emblems) that was FE:A? Hmm.

I can see this as a case of a game's visual and conceptual design being influenced by its mechanics: Steampunk provides a pretty good justification for why characters have a limited range of actions within a certain period of time, thus fitting nicely with the SRPG gameplay.

I think it's fair to say that the graphics are rough around the edges, and (as someone else said further up the thread) that some of the elements are a bit incongruous. On the other hand I think this means the game has a very strong, distinct character, and that visually it doesn't take itself too seriously for the actual gameplay.

Shouldn't anyone who has come to expect more aesthetically-pleasing games from Nintendo and Intelligent Systems? The graphics are on par with Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, a Nintendo DS game from 2008.

Psh, I'd say that with the pre-rendered backgrounds Sonic Chronicles may actually look a lot better.

Always like to think of all these awesome new games in terms of this is what someone like Iwata has been seeing for months - prob keeps him with more faith and interest. (though obvs needs to try best to view it from the outside)

Also, whos glad QoL wasnt announced? one woulda over shadowed the other.

Just wanted to say I called it last night in the roundtable thread with all the kneejerk reactions.
Doubters need to just put their preconceived notions away and wait until the Treehouse stream tomorrow. It's already been able to sell me on several games getting detailed breakdown and long playthroughs with people working on these games right now.

Crow will be served.
Hope people are enjoying their crow :D

They better have changed Zelda's. Really wish I had gotten the Smash ball yesterday so I would have been able to see it. There shouldn't be any shared final smashes.

Light arrows. Pretty sure they showed it yesterday, but they missed with her.

I was not expecting Luigi's FS, it is funny.

Wait, I missed it, what was it?

Actually, regardless of what it was, it should be something death stare-related in the final game, lol.

Edit: Found it. Poltergust works just as well, I guess. His Brawl one was really, really weird.

It's really cool that we get little tidbits about Treehouse culture like that on here. It's also comforting to know that I'm not alone with screwing up pronunciations of names in games with strictly text-based dialogue.

Urgh, list wars never end well. The fact is what someone sees as comprehensive appeal won't appeal to everyone else. Not to mention Fossil Fighters on the DS was localised and that the majority of those games are downloadable e-shop titles.

Haha. "It's a shameful death for cowards".

Eh. There are 7 games on that list that look good to me. That's enough.

You are just complaining that they aren't making a new Fire Emblem. None of your posts reflect a disappointment in the game failing to live up to the artstyle influences mentioned, you just straight up hate the influence. It ok not to like a game, but don't go suggesting that IS had a gun to their heads to create a game that appeals to the west.
