Probably, but that doesn't surprise me. They are usually people in front of the Halls eyeing cards to see if they're legit.

They've been doing the UV reflective "watermark" since 2002, ever since some militants got the idea to fly a couple airplanes into a skyscraper. I guess the ink is supposed to prevent people from counterfeiting the badges and thus from bringing in a bomb.

Of course, they scan that right at the inner entrances to the halls, so by then, you're already close enough to take down the whole LACC. (That's why there are blue UV lights mounted on the doors, to make the ink visible to the door people).

Has anyone in Japan gotten theirs yet?

Aside from my biz card and a magazine ad, I sent photocopies of my insurance card and paystubs. Of course, they are totally in Japanese and my name is in katakana so I live in fear that whoever does the "checking" will be like "AH CAIN'T READ THIS DUR HUR" and throw it into the circular file.

I finally got my press pass "confirmed" today, so I'll still have to wait for it in the mail (shouldn't take too long since I'm in the same state). Damn people took their time, I sent my stuff way back in March.
