e3 Predictions. MS vs. Sony vs. Ninty

MS all the way, bub. Sony second...unless Revolution hits with the force of N64 ala E3 '96...where I was glued to a demo kiosk of Mario 64, beating away journos and annoying suits alike with a stick the entire first day...

I think MS will win, can't wait to see Gear of War, maybe Mistwalker RPG's and other heavy duty stuff.

Second Square Enix, if they show FFXII and give us release dates for games they have released in Japan.

Don't care about Nin10do and Sony seems to be in trouble.

edit: can't wait to see some killer PSP software, still not sold on the system, hopefully this will change after E3.

I think MS wil do quite good but hope that ninty will do too or even better. As for Sony.. think it will be the "same" but better, prettier etc. Not expecting much from them.

well sony should finally announce some killer appz for the psp (and its about time) but no ps3 until next year and no really great games for ps2 @ christmas (at least not as many games as last year)

so i think microsoft and nintendo should steal their thunder

IBGSS (In Before Giant Shit Storm)

MS had best come out on top this E3 if they want a big 360 launch and strong head start over Sony. Not thinking we'll see too much Revolution, but hope I'm wrong.

Unless NIntendo manages to power up their product range and show Revolution... new mario + more zelda ain't going to steal the show. It'd go to MS, if only for the 360 showings.

you can all pass out now

On what basis? Hmmm?

Management troubles, they did cancel the March unveiling after all. Even if they show PS3 in May; it's games probably wonÂ’t be as good as the Xbox 2 stuff because Xbox 360Â’s games are further in development cycle IMO.

Sony & Nintendo will be showing at most tech demo's and then relying on current stuff.

I can't imagine MS showing next gen games and exclusive content and not "winning".

They did say this will be their biggest E3 yet. And hey, they had FFXII on display last year, so I'm expecting ....something.

FFXII was at TGS 2003 too. I think it might come out this decade, if we are lucky.

I predict plenty of photoshops and lots of photo sequences featuring the IGN guys :)

You mean something like......

I think MS will have the momentum, having the most complete 'next gen' system up and running- so it's their show to lose. I have no doubts Sony will have a very strong showing, just to try to combat MS, but as far as a huge PS3 explosion, I wouldn't expect that until maybe TGS. E3-2006 will be the E3 of PS3, full-force, I have no doubts. Hopefully there will be just enough PS3 goodness to ramp up the excitement this year. A strong PS2 holiday line-up and further hyping/showcasing of PSP won't hurt them either. :)

Once again, Nintendo seems like the dark horse. Any new DS games will naturally be compared, albeit similar or not, to new PSP games due to the handheld vs. handheld. I don't expect much Revolution stuff (although I'd love to be wrong on this) and I can see the Big N using ZELDA as their 'show stopper' for this E3... but will it be enough in the shadow of Sony and MS?

Although many of us will most likely disagree in this topic, I'm sure all of us can agree this E3 will be one for the ages. Exciting times...

In terms of critical reception.....all 3 will generate positive press, I think, so everyone will be a "winner". Who will generate the most positive press? That's always difficult to determine.

MS will be more noticeable, though..I mean their coverage will be broader (more pages in magazines etc.). But then it has to be.

Moving away from who will "win"..

1) I expect a return of "screenshot wars" - you know we're going to be debating the relative merits of first PS3/X360/Revolution media. It's a pre-nextgen tradition.

2) Similar to above, we'll see heated technical debates.

3) The word "gimmick" will be overused in relation to Nintendo's next gen console. In fact, for some here anything next-gen Nintendo will be regarded as "gimmicky" no matter WHAT they show at E3 (they could show god's gift to gaming interfaces, for example, and I'm sure significant portions of GAF would write it off immediately ;)).

I'll add more as I think of them..

There are many things that factor into 'winning e3', but a good indicator are the live conference feeds, and the amount of splooge they induce.

I'm excited about all the PSP announcements. The E3 following a system's launch is always the big software explosion, so I'm hoping for some nifty surprises. It'll be interesting to see how many developers actually make good use of the DS hardware, I'm not that confident, but I'd love to be wrong.

Sony easily, they have the two hottest items for E3, no doubt!

PSP - We should be seeing some kick ass software in development for it.
PS3 - The hardware should blow everything else out of the way, strong software support from the biggest devs etc.

Sony has this in its pocket.

Too early to really say, though Sony might do it since Microsoft is intent on blowing their wad a week before the show, and as for Nintendo, well, they are just plain an X factor at this point in time.

Somebody didn't see the Sony conference last year.

PSP will be a runner up only because it is so sexy, and nothing to do with e3 really.

Actually, this is the most probable prediction of the lot so far, with the amendum that this place will not be coming up until well after the dust settles.

Well, Sony unveiling PS3 should trump MS elaborating on the Xbox 360 they just showed off to the casuals on MTV, and no doubt they'll unveil details and tech demos, that and PSP, I think it will be hard to top Sony.

Nintendo has no chance. No next-gen console, no way.

I think with the most concrete, next-gen games on display, it will be tough for MS to not "win" E3.

PSP desperately needs a slew of new games, imo, since the upcoming release list for it looks dire in comparison to the DS's, so I'd say it's the system with the most to lose, especially after the launch wasn't the sellout some were expecting.

No I was watching, and I was expecting it. :)
The PSP alone was worth it last year, PS3 and new PSP software will make the wait worthwhile this year also. And sales charts can be interesting. ;)

When did Nintendo last win? I thought their 2003 show was HORRIBLE, and last years was saved only by a short Zelda clip.

Sony really hasn't given a damn about E3 for a lot of years. Even the PS2 unvieling was overshadowed by Sega's last glorious gasp.

I think Microsoft will steal the show as far as the next gen is concerned because they will have a lot of playable games for Xbox360 to talk about while Sony and Nintendo next gen systems will be at a tech demo level since they're coming out next year.
Anyway I think Sony will have the most complete show. They still have a really strong PS2 lineup to show with maybe even a few new surprises, they have to unveil ALL the PSP future games with the first REAL killer applications. And of course with the PS3 and its tech demos they will amaze everyone even more than with Xenon first gen games.
