E3 Twitter Just Now - Nintendo is coming to E3 No Need to Worry

The problem is that people are going to start writing "Nintendo won't be at E3!!" on twitter etc. And it might go viral via word to mouth amongst people don't care about the source of information. In that case, it's very bad for Nintendo since it would make it look like they "give up" to Sony/MS.

Then they will be even more surprised when Nintendo is there at E3 and shows off new titles.

And it won't make any difference when they're actually there and the press are reporting. It's not like people are going to go "Where did this Nintendo info come from? They said they wouldn't be there! Must be fake!"

When E3 comes around Nintendo will advertise. Gaming sites and media who will be invited to their press events will advertise. Those same people and gamers there who play their titles on the show floor will advertise.

This scenario is astretch, and even if it was to happen E3 is going to bring the anouncements anyway.

The funny thing is that I see MS and Sony eventually doing the same thing in the future, it would be very amusing to look back at these threads.

Did anyone actually think they weren't coming to E3?

I mean, I grew up with Nintendo consoles, and them not having a conference sucks because sitting down with some drinks and snacks, hooking up the computer to the TV, watching streams of them and bitching on the NeoGaf IRC is like one of the best parts of E3. But they are obviously still going to be there.

They haven't had a good E3 conference since 2009 I think and before that 2006. They always pulled out pretty terrible conferences, but their highs were always higher than the competition. Clearly they like being more in control of their announcements though and Nintendo Directs/Youtube definitely allow that more than an annual dick measuring race.

I still think a refusal to have a press conference is a mistake.

Why? So they can get brutally overshadowed by the massive press conferences of the two companies REVEALING BRAND NEW CONSOLES?

Two smaller, more nuanced presentations, gameplay demos on the floor, and a bunch of Nintendo Directs pre-E3 really is the smartest thing Nintendo can do to assert their presence.

Otherwise, they'd just get lost in the crowd.
