E3 XBox 360 Live presentation transcript will be leaked later in the week

As you will be aware, the weekend saw images of the finalised Xbox 360 hardware leaked to the world, with today seeing almost every entertainment website carrying the two infamous shots.

SPOnG was amongst the first out of the blocks. The un-watermarked versions you see across the web likely stem from this very site. We knew the images were hot property when we received them and, along with every other site, knew full well that someone, somewhere, had seriously dropped the ball.

And the Xbox 360 leaks are far from over. Later this week, SPOnG will be showcasing exclusive excerpts from Microsoft’s E3 video presentation, giving a glimpse of the Xbox Live element of the pre-Expo conference. And of course, many more hardware leaks are expected, with the rear of the console and the controller now the main prizes.

:)

:lol

They must be annoyed as hell. I would probably end up smashing the office and punching random people on the street. As a finishing touch, I'd push a magazine rack over.

(jokingly)Man MS really doesn't innovate

Xbox Live: Menage a Billions: hehehe another sexual connotation... stolen from Nintendo
Xbox 360: Amplify Yourself!: hmmm can't think of a good one for this one.
Xbox 360: You're Next!: Goldberg lawsuit pending!
Xbox 360: Shine!: Mario lawsuit pending!

;)

i guess leaks are cool, kinda ruins the supprise though, supprise being the main thing that makes this E3 so exciting.

I guess 360 will get the jump on the console unveiling and concentrate E3 on the features and launch titles.

So the crap Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop pic of Xbox 360 is an official asset? I have a hard time believing that, as it has a wrong font on the Memory Card slots and the bewels look amateurish.

Why would MS give out such amateurish assets when they have waaaay more impressive pictures like the leaked 40GB HDD photo shows?

I'll give Spong credit. They've done a good job and been reliable with the Xbox 360 shit to date. I think they've earned a temporary reprieve, but that's up to the rest of the forum to grant. But so far they've led the way. PEACE.

P.S. What exactly did they do wrong to be so distrusted in the first place?

Lots of stuff, bad writers a long time ago. It's all nailed down for the past few years though shit sticks better than sunshine. I hope that as time rolls on, New SPOnG will fully replace Old...
A cyber nuts-kick to anyone mentioning Resi 4 Xbox.

In the old days (must stress old days so folder doesnt go nuts) someone here (Millhouse i think it was) sent them a bullshit story from a hotmail account, which SPoNG posted calling Millhouse an 'industry insider'.

That was the last nail in the coffin anyway.

Oh and RE4 to xbox.

OW!

what the fuck was that?!

LOL.
The Millhouse episode wasn't as clear cut as that. He collated a load of existing speculation that had been doing the rounds about Castlevania and sent it in. As to whether the writer used this or not I have no idea as I wasn't aware of GAF's existence at the time. Whatever, it looked really, really bad... :-S
The problem the writer faced was simply being too trusting and taking things at face value. He was young and had received great stuff through anonymous sources in the past. Shame really but that was all a long time ago.

Back on topic, the extract should reach me by tomorrow I hope. I have no idea what it contains, though I don't expect to be blown away, given it's from a script.

We'll see I guess.

wait, we're announcing leaks now?

Maybe it's a plausibly vague ransom letter, i.e. we're going to leak some shit unless you send us some money Bill Gates.

It's ridiculous how bad MS is at keeping secrets.
Do you really think any of the other console makers could have kept their secrets this well?

I would say that they have done a decent-enough job, considering that no other console maker has tried to keep their system secret for so long (less than 5-6 months prior to launch).

Probably one was done a little while before the latter (the art asset has supposedly been sitting with press under NDA for a week or two now, but who knows how old the OurColony pics are?) so there are bound to be some prototype differences. Console developers experiment with certain exterior elements right up to the end, so things like fonts and so forth are bound to change rapidly.

The Illustrator thing makes for clean clip-art, and serves the purpose well enough. Photos are harder to clean up, and don't always look as smooth/multi-purpose.

I stopped in EB Games yesterday, and they had print-outs of the Xbox 360 taped to the back of their monitors, and a sign-up list to be called about the Xbox 360 for preorders. They certainly didn't waste any time.

I am baffled at how the hell Spong still manages to get official content after all the pissing they take on the companies. If I were a PR you'd be in the shitcanthosefeckers list for sure.

Teach me your ways, Folder.

Indeed, especially when I've been told the hell Bizarre made with MS France when I was the first to post the PGR3 picture I got FROM OURCOLONY.

Blimblim blacklisted? :(

Seriously. I've always wondered this about Spong.

"All right, this time I won't tell anybody what you're telling me. The other times don't count, they were practices."

The only people who refuse to deal with us are Rockstar. This is after we ran the San Andrea multiplayer details exclusive and made OPM2 angry. They withdrew all contact and canned several large advertising campaigns. Oh no!

Everyone else just lets us get on with it. People in the UK have an expectation that the press will piss them off from time to time. We have a proud history of tabloid journalism here, as well as a broadsheet industry, all of which runs news certain people would rather it didn't.

Sure, we've had the odd spat but any decent PR looks at our reach and readership demographic and just puts up with what they'd rather not read in favour of maintaining a decent working relationship with us.

SiteÂ’s like BlimblimÂ’s (no offence) will only ever be able to offer an extension of strict company policy. SPOnG will never do this and we have contacts enough to be able to support this, both in terms of news sources and advertisers. If a certain publisher doesnÂ’t like it. Fuck them. They can withdraw advertising and not send us promos. It simply has makes no difference to the operation. And like I said, the only company to do this to date has been Rockstar.

You know the irony of it? IÂ’m constantly holding stuff off to help friends in PR roles. A good PR person makes you reliant on their friendship and advice and works with you on news that sometimes they donÂ’t want you to know. I have discussions with people who I am friendly with that would blow the lid on some big news quite often, though always off the record. And I respect OTR, as does the rest off SPOnG

I guess that it has something to do with UK's tabloid tradition as you said. If I'd dare to blow some kind of Xbox 360 related secret on any outlet, MS would want my head chopped off and my boss would have to run through a lot of shit. And not only that, after getting my head MS would claim the PR's one.

While games journalism is not my main job (more like a payed hobby) I value it, and I value even more my friend's job. I'd never endanger their works at the PR agencies, but maybe things work in different ways up there in the UK. What is told off the record is kept off the record.

Why would MS give out such amateurish assets when they have waaaay more impressive pictures like the leaked 40GB HDD photo shows?
Because it's frontal shot, and probably the most representative angle you'll be looking at when you put it next you your TV. Maybe they just don't realize it doesn't look very good on that shot, but I agree that the angle HDD photo is something I'd much rather have people see if it was my product.

What did we know about the DS a year ago?

Folder: Wasn't there any kind of fingerprinting on the original file? I think someone is about to lose their job.
No mate. This is a printed script from the filming of the presentation which took place in Seattle last Friday. :)

No offense taken, since it's absolutely true.
Ho and I've not been blacklisted or anything, I guess Bizarre realized that the blame was to be put on ourcolony and not me. But you won't see me hinting at stuff or even confirm anything anymore though.

How about the StoOgE megaton fake announcement from a couple of years back? :lol

Folder: Ahh, well I don't expect too much exciting stuff on that, just confirmation of some rumours and that some are put to rest. No fingerprint on the picture either?

So Folder, if you have a good relationship with the PR suits (and I'm guessing you do from what you said) why the hell would you jeopardise it by spoiling Microsoft's E3 surprises? Just because you're not directly influenced by them or under pressure to keep on their good, you're willing to throw all that away for one story?

Seems to me like you're shooting yourself in the foot and burning every bridge you can find. No disrespect meant, of course, but it's a very weird decision, IMO...especially to announce it like this

this is true. its funny though. because people get so angry at nintendo for not wanting to give away anything.. and their console is still a bit off!

umm, why would spong be shooting itself by doing this? Do you have any idea how many "insiders" want to spill the beans just for the sake of being able to pass themselves as insiders? There is NO SHORT SUPPLY of such persons. And don't be so naive as to assume revealing said info is going to end of getting ANYONE fired. It takes more than 1 or 2 or 10 people to put events like this together. MS would commit suicide a million times over for firing someone based on nothing more suspicion (which is all they would have unless the sources are specified by name). You can find detailed plans of modern nukes online, much less some obscure presentation script about the upcoming Xbox 360. Woopididi doo ya

Wow. This thread was taken over by Europeans.
