EA CEO: We`re not trying to be greedy.

Has anyone here ever run a for profit business? I have no problem with EA trying to get the most money they can out of customers. They aren't forcing you to buy their goods. It's your option. Their job as a company is to increase profits. I don't get all the hate.

Wilson pointed to the company’s new Netflix-like initiative, EA Access, available for computers and Xbox One, where users pay a fixed monthly price ($5 in this case) to enjoy a catalogue of games.

This is why I'll never buy another one of their games.

I understand the "hate" (something rather variable, with many facets ranging from insignificant gripes to common annoyances writhing among the truly significant faults that detriment both customers & the industry) and even agree with it in some ways, but this is a poor attempt at criticism, to put it nicely.

Aside from your point that's been reiterated throughout this thread, the OP invalidates themselves by implying they know the industry better than one of the biggest and most enduring companies in it.

ROFL seriously Battlefront is the epitome of greedy . I still cannot fathom how the base game is a $60 game .

I mean, that's easy. The game had to be released before Episode 7, so corners had to be cut. But you don't cut the price, because Star Wars and Battlefield are both premium brands. The fans will pay the customary price and rationalize the lack of content.

One might call this line of thinking "greedy."

To me, his spiel boils down to "this new thing in technology exists, how could you expect me NOT to exploit it?"

I get it, smartphones and the internet are hot, and they connect you to your customers through the lifetime of the product, and that's exciting. That doesn't mean that Dungeon Keeper Mobile needed to exist in the abysmal state it's in.

There are ways to make that constant connection to people not terrible and you do that by not fucking exploiting it, because the moment you do that, you've given people a reason to want to sever that constant connection you have to them permanently.

And no amount of pretending that you're good people will change that, because it's not about whether people think you're evil or not. It's not even about whether people think you're greedy or not, Mr. Wilson. It's about people knowing what they want and you not even bothering to open your ears and legitimately listen to them. You'd rather use that constant consumer connection to sell than to listen. THAT is the problem.

Just look at Halo 5. Create games like that, but sell for a lower price and coup the losses with MT's. Don't see any issue with that, creates a more constant revenue stream for the parties involved.

Yeah look at Halo 5, and some of the worst sale figures in the entire franchise.

Sorry EA but i dont believe you. You do a good job at hiding your greed. Look at that Star War Battlefront game, its a joke compared to the 360 cancelled game. I decided to never buy EA games years ago and I will continue to do so.

Ubisoft if you dont get your shit together you are next. Do not disappoint me with The Division.

Whether or not EA is greedy (they are a publically traded company, some extent of greed is not only encouraged but ethically obligatory) it's certainly the case that they've gotten better. Yes there's still the MTs and map packs, but now they are actually giving their teams plenty of time to polish and finish games, which is more than you could have said 4 years ago.
