i do know some of the cheats/exploits... from a friend in EA... funny that they just pulled the 1.01 patch too.

I think (people wouldn't elaborate) there were situations where 2 people would join opposing teams, meet up, shoot each other, and revive each other using the medic paddles. I don't even know if you can do this, but it's what I suspected from looking at a stats screenshot.

You can't do this.

I've played games where people do this away from the action. I caught 3 people and then i killed the enemy person meaning they had to wait for him to spawn and make his way again. If you look at their stats you can see they have too many healing points.

Also there are poeple who use cheats on their actual game.

Even if you couldn't heal enemies, you can do it with four people no problem. If they're all medics.

The way a lot of people cheat is to have 1 person join each team
those 2 people lure an innocent person to them, they kill him. One of the 2 guys whos on the innocent guys team revives him, before he can do anything the other guy knifes him quickly, they revive him, knife again before he can do anything, then they do this hundreds and hundreds of times racking up mad points. :lol

After the DDoS attacks the banned Chinese farmers did on the FFXI servers, SE is scared as fuck to do anything to any cheater.

It's pretty much human nature to want to be the best. People cheat on everything. You don't necessarily have to like it, but people are going to do it.

Some people were going out into the middle of nowhere as the support class, unloading on nothing, then having a massive reload circle jerk to rake in the points.

i only play medic so i don't understand how this works.

EricP: I think they get team points for giving ammo, similar to how a medic gets points for healing. So if they run themselves out of ammo, then give themselves more ammo, etc. etc.

Where'd you get that info? I mean the source of the attacks.

IIRC it was on games.slash. They pinpointed the source to China and the IGE gold farmers they banned.

glad they did this... there was a serious map hack cheat going around that had red text above the enemy's heads that gave away their positions. it made me quit for awhile until they cleaned it up (knew they would eventually)

They need to lay the smack down on some coders and get out a patch that fixes more then it breaks.....oh and admin tools would be nice too.

i never mentioned it. but ya, they can do that and more actually. there's a site dedicated to providing the various cheats for it, they stay one step ahead of punkbuster. you have to be a paying member to get it though.

I think they actually got banned for running bots or something. But yeah, botting is a big part of FFXI cheating. Plus in mmorpg's like FFXI there is always a gigantic hardcore community that plays 10+ hours every day. They always know exactly who the gil farmers are. So it wasn't too hard for SE to find out.
