EA sucks dick, SERIOUSLY

Okay, so I rented Burnout Revenge. Upon going online, the game tries to sign you up for spam emails. To do so, it changes the A button to Cancel and the B button to Accept (The opposite of EVERY OTHER GAME), and there's no in game option to remove that, you need to actually sign up on the EA site just to remove your email from spam lists (I already have 5 EA spam emails with no link to unsubscribe at all).

The more shit I see EA pulling, the more I hate them. FUCK YOU EA/

can't you just provide a fake email or an email made specifically for taking all the spam you get for signing up for shit?

They use the email address already linked to your LIve account.

And they reversed the Accept and Cancel buttons for that screen ALONE, they're the other way around the rest of the game. That is an obvious cheap trick. I still can't find a way to remove my email from the spam list.

Also, the game comes with a manual that makes the Xbox PSO manual seem like an encyclopedia, as well.

Haha, I don't remember that happening when I got online with it, but that sounds shitty.

:lol

It's actually pretty funny of them to do that.

It gets better. To get myself off this spam list, I need to link my gamertag to an EA account I need to create, which also implicitly gives them permission to sell information, reading the user agreement. This is seriously the most bullshit I've ever had to deal with regarding Live, and I've had PSO!

i know nothing about privacy law, but that sounds awfully dubious. you've got a case here. sue sue sue!

"We will only collect and use personal information in accordance with this privacy policy to the extent deemed reasonably necessary to serve our legitimate business purposes, and we will maintain appropriate safeguards to ensure the security, integrity, accuracy and privacy of the information you have provided. In addition, we will take reasonable steps to assure that third parties to whom we transfer any personal information will provide sufficient protection of that information."

Translation:

We'll give your information to anyone we want, we promise THEY won't give it to anyone else, unless they want to, etc etc.

the fact that you have to sign up for some of their shit to get yourself removed from another crappy thing doesn't sound right

EA is the only company I've seen pull this shit on Live. Never had to accept any 'User Agreements' to play any other shit online, EVER. I am never going online with another EA game, period.

Actually, that A/B switcheroo sounds like a direct violation of the Xbox Technical Certification Requirements.

I just looked through the TCR document and there's nothing that says you can't do that.
