PS5 because exclusives, exclusives, exclusives
WOW, PS5 solo is stretching it's lead even more whilst XSX solo is hardly budging...…..I thought gamepass, bc, xcloud, censorship, crossplay and Phil were changing mindshare back to XBOX.....Let's not Sony not being at E3 was another...…...Really puts things into perspective, what people really care about, and it's not PR and hype....
I think I'm just gonna play my Switch.
Unless the AAA next gen market changes completely. I'm tired of playing Uncharted/TLOU times a hundred over and over again. It's already past the expiration date for me. So, unless there is true innovation in the major software, I'm not getting either one.
Read this.
Halo Masterchief teaser tingy looked like a movie. Hell, Helblade/2 is more movie then all those games.
So again, you are going to ignore Helblade right? or play it in a week and never touch it again? That's why Microsoft is stuck in the Forza, Halo and Gear circle because all other projects mostly fail.
Excuse me??!!
Hellblade 2 was a music video! Get it right!
They even pushed play on the Blu-ray for that sweet 24FPS, judder free!
I dont even know how someone picks xbox. But 2 choices, some one has to pick the other.
these are all the same type of game:
boring ass movie-"games". if I want to watch a movie, I go to the cinema, not turn my ps4 on lol also, all those games can be finished in 1-2 days.. dont even need to buy a ps4, I can just borrow it, "play" this movie-"game" and return it. meh.
at least for xbox the are different type of games and not all the same type of movie-"games".
Movies, walking sims. I got a newsflash for y'all, the initiative's next game is a walking sim.
I bet all those walking sim haters are going to praise that game and will gamepass it.
I doubt Sony can outdo MS here... PS5's BC is only for PS4 games, which means the Xbox already has the advantage here, since it has games from the original Xbox at no additional cost. Additionally, the hardest emulation job is already done for MS, which was emulating the IBM PowerPC CPU for the X360 to work on an X86/x64 instruction set. Upgrading the graphics for the Series X should be a piece of cake for games that have already been added for the Xbox One consoles. The most likely step is giving everything ray tracing, in addition to a resolution and AA/AF bump.We don't know on bc Sony very well could out do MS there I expect it as they painted themselves in a corner with it. Was great for the one but it should of been redone for the series x for more complete solution.
What was that something? Because apparently he mentioned that Ninja Theory was having 'conflicts' with Sony back in October, meaning the Hellblade 2 for Xbox announcement was expected... So... Yeah. There is a chance that it will launch with enough exclusives. Not that I will buy either of them at launch though.12-16 exclusives at launch is a rumor from a guy who has already been wrong with something he said was going to happen this month
I've always found the "cinematic" critique strange. I like games with stories and interesting characters. That's how you do them -- you include cinematic elements. In general, people are story-telling and story-loving beings. Our culture is built on stories. Even the position that "Sony always puts out the same kind of games" is a story, albeit a bad one. If you just want gameplay devoid of story and characters, I guess stick with Crackdown and Sea of Thieves and online multiplayer shooters, etc.; personally they bore me. It's just a mechanical exercise. I want characters and a world to invest in, to motivate me, and that always requires a story, which is best told in cinematic form. So the whole anti-story crowd is speaking another language, to me.
The whole "one and done" thing is weird, too, especially when it's framed as if these are 6 to 8 hour experiences. I've spent months playing through the Uncharted trilogy, twice. I've played through Days Gone twice and spent over a hundred hours on it. I'm now on my fourth play through of Horizon Zero Dawn and have spent well over two hundred hours on it. One and done? I don't think so. Two days to finish? More like still playing it four years later.
Deride narrative-driven single player games all you want, but Sony knows that these are the experiences a lot of people enjoy, and they've been hugely successful because of it. People who talk about it in exaggeratedly negative terms seem bitter to me. It's like they're sad and angry that their "side" is losing the console war, and they hold a grudge.
I wouldn't mind trading in my PS4 for a PS5 provided FULL bc is on offer. They will probably have some decent trade in deals... however I am not a Plus subscriber and don't want to lose all my save games, which I probably would if I can't set up the PS5 BEFORE getting rid of the PS4... hmm.
Will get a PS5 for Sony WWS games and (when needed) upgrade my PC for MS first party games.
It's interesting because it's exactly the opposite situation on both ends. The Marios and Zeldas are the same clothing so to speak, with some gameplay innovations. Whereas on PS4 especially, we have the same game´play with different clothing. New IP's that play and feel the same thoughout. And what do you play on switch? Kind of all their IPs are just copy&paste from old games, shallow and quite simple.
Then there are indies aka 99.9% garbage and so on.
I get your point but at least "movie story games" have different stories and characters, not just mario&zelda characters copypasted around.
So it sounds bit ironic to skip next gen because of games that are repeating old mechanics, while playing on switch that is based on recycling instead of innovating
But taking that into account I guess it is the same to play switch or next gen if games dont offer anything
They are devoted indeed, I'll give them that.Im seeing alot of neo member account and sudendly xbox numbers increased
Sounds very fascinating

I love a good story in my games and I'm on the same page with you for Horizon Zero Dawn. I was so immersed in that game and I loved the way the holographs and discarded videos let tale of how the modern world ended unfold. I rushed to get a 2nd playthrough right before I traded my PS4 in on my X. I thought the story in TLoU was decent too, but the rest of the PS 4 games I didn't really get into the stories, but that doesn't mean I think they're bad (except UC4 - that one was bad) it just mean I just like different games than a lot of Sony fans.
Story is one of the most enjoyable parts of a game for me. Quantum Break my favorite game this gen along with HZD. I love the gunplaygameplay in all the Halo games but what first hooked me was the story and lore. Hellblade can't tell you how much I love that story. Intense. AC Odyessy, loved it. Gears 5 has made me a true Gears fan after all these years. Deus Ex, Mass Effect etc. etc. Love them all. As long as they have fun gameplay and a story that hooks me then I love the so-called "movie games".
But I do have to say XsX next gen music video games are even better.![]()
Yeah, as I mentioned before, Horizon is my GOTG. It's not just the story and characters -- the combat and the environments are also fantastic, and that's a big part of why I'm coming back over and over. I enjoy hanging out with Aloy, too. I just think she's a neat character. I was tired of all the unemotional tough guy male heros (I'm sounding a little like the IGN guy about "another stoic white male protagonist," I suppose, but it's not a "white male" thing, it's more a lack of interesting personality thing). Aloy felt like a breath of fresh air. She had a great story of discovering who she was, and that was wrapped up inside what the world was. Her voice actress (Ashly Burch) did a fantastic job, too. The animators did great work as well; she was a pleasure to move. Thankfully, Horizon was made before the whole "strong independent female lead" thing became a trend and people (well me anyhow) got tired of it.
I really enjoyed TLoU's story and characters. I waited a long time before I played it, so I'd heard all the hype. I was prepared to be underwhelmed, since I often am underwhelmed by games that get a lot of hype. But it really was a class act all the way, very well done.
I'm less optimistic about TLoU2, which seems to focus on revenge and violence, themes that don't interest me. It's got a little of the woke/SJW vibe, too, which I don't like. I'll probably play it anyhow, though, just because I admired the first game and respect Naughty Dog's work. I agree that UC4 fell flat, though; I didn't like how they turned it into a family drama.
I agree about Hellblade having a great character and story. Senua and Kiryu (from Yakuza 0) were my two favorite characters from 2016. My career was in mental health, so I was really interested to see a character with trauma and schizophrenia being portrayed in/through a videogame. The way they approached it was fascinating. I really came to feel for and admire Senua.
I tried Quantum Break but couldn't really get into it, for some reason. It had a lot of live TV scenes in it, and that was a turn-off for me. I don't watch normal TV shows, and I don't want them in my videogames (don't get peanut butter in my chocolate). I didn't give it a lot of time, though, tbh, so I'm probably not in a great position to judge the game.
I'm with you on Mass Effect. I wish Bioware hadn't lost their mojo.
Anyhow, long live good story-driven games, no matter who produces them.
He said Horizon Zero Dawn would be announced for PC at the game awards this year LmaoI doubt Sony can outdo MS here... thats what i said yes.How dare people have opinions and preferences.
Actually, he said Horizon Zero Dawn will see a PC release in February 2020. The Game Awards announcement was speculation. Whether he himself said the game awards thing or not, everyone was saying that we may see an announcement at the game awards, not that we will. There is a reason he is considered a reliable leaker. He correctly predicted the PC release of Death Stranding after all... Among other things. He said Horizon Zero Dawn would be announced for PC at the game awards this year Lmao
I wish I could like each individual sentence since I agree with & relate to each individual thing you said, even to a certain extent Quantum Break. I didn't play it until well after release because the TV thing turned me off but I actually liked the TV parts when I finally played it. QB is a very different style of game and it's divisive. It seems people either love it or hate it and it seems more people hated it. My tastes rarely line up with the majority when it comes to games.
I played QB right before HZD and they are tied for my GOTG. While the 2 games are incredibly different gameplay, genre, protagonist etc., I had the same underlying feeling and immersion from both of them. The sadness, desolation and sense of impending doom was palpable in both games although HZD it wasn't what was happening in the present, it was what was presented in data pads & holographs all in reference to the previous end of the world destruction. But I got same underlying feelings from both games. I truly love a game that is not only fun to play but can also elicit a deep emotional feeling. Hellblade, Halo Reach & Halo 4 were able to do that for me as well. I still cry when I play Reach.
Agree with your TLoU and TLoU 2 takes. HZD & TLoU were what convinced me to try Play Station for the 1st time, and while I didn't like TLoU nearly as much as HZD it was my 2nd favorite PS4 game. The E3 2018 reveal for TLoU2 is what made me decide to trade-in my PS4 on the X.
I've lost all interest in anything Naughty Dog,. UC4 pissed me off. They took one of the best characters in video games and turned him into a dumb pussy scared of his wife and stupid enough to fall for all his sleazy brothers schemes, plus all the family stuff bored the hell out of me. It was a horrible send off for Nate.
So since I agree with so much of what you've said and since you also love Aloy, maybe you are the one person that would agree with me on this. I LOVE the facial animations in HZD. The faces especially the eyes convey so much depth and emotion. I am not really a fan of children but I even adored little Aloy when she was scrambling through that cave. Her face was so cute and her expressions and eyes just melted my cold bitchy heart. Are you going to tell me I'm crazy too, that the facial animations in HZD are terrible or did you think they were maybe pretty good?
I'm a bit unconventional in that I don't really care for either MS's or Sony's first party games all that much. I like Halo but it's not a system seller for me. However Killer Instinct is one of my favorite fighting game series ever so if they announced a KI2 for XSX I'd be ecstatic.
When it comes to Sony with the PS4 I really only care about their third party Exclusives like Bloodborne or Spiderman, but I've been able to borrow friends' PS4s to play them in the past.
Tbh Nintendo are the only company I really care about Exclusives for but since I had a WiiU to play BotW I haven't needed a Switch yet. I'll probably get one when No More Heroes 3 comes out and then wait and see how the PS5 and XSX are looking. I'll probably end up going with the SX so I can move all my OGX/360/X1 games over to one system, but if Hellblade 2 and Halo Infinite are all they have to interest me out of the gate I'll probably wait.
If I were rich I'd probably get a nice PC and PS5, but I'm not so an XSX and Switch will probably be fine.
