Early Revolution Software List

I'm sure there will be original software... Shiggy hasn't mentioned what he is working on. He is good for an original game, with the system launch.
I mean, I understand all that, but that's maybe 2 games max.

I just hope this system is less Nintendo centric than the GC is, but it's not turning out that way. Oh well.

Yes a Nintendo system that isn't Nintnedo centric......

The SNES wasn't, or at least the third party games really made inroads over Nintendo's own games.

All of Nintendo's competitors have all had major 3rd party franchises on their system, and have been doing very well relative to Nintendo.

I hoped Nintendo would adopt their philosophies and actually attract a good amount of third party. However, noone even has rev devkits, or know specs of it. For a system that's supposed to launch at the same time as the PS3 (Which has had dev kits out since November) it sure has nothing really going for it...

Thats never going to happen. I wouldn't buy it if it did either. Nintendo games are far and away the Nintendo systems biggest draw card. If they can get some 3rd parties to have some games appeal as much as their first party stuff to the user base, that would be the killer system.

My complaint is that it's too dependant on solely the same franchises and games and gameplay Nintendo has been forcing down our Ninfan throats for the past, what, 5-10 years?

It's ok that you see no fault in that, but I however want some kind of promise that Nintendo won't go down the same route they have been, and becoming basically the cheap, nextgen version of the Neo Geo.

Johntv, would love to know what you thought of Nintendo's conference + Rev in general :)

Not a surprising list. I don't think we will see Zelda at launch though :\
Od - I posted some brief E3 thoughts on my blog (www.nokonoko.net, or johntv.1up.com if you want to leave a comment).

Hey john. Hell yeah. I wanted to hangout, but i actually saw you leaving with some chik when I was coming back with a hot dog.
Ah yeah, I was probably heading out for lunch or to take a nap or something. I was pretty beat! Jetlag sucks when you're on the go from 8am to 1am, lemme tell ya. :)

Nintendo doesn't "force" any games down Ninfan throats. Miyamoto has flat out said that were it not for fan demand, he would stop making Mario and Zelda games and work on creating new IPs.

A very predictable list that doesn't really give us much at all. And Golden Sun might as well be something entirely different.

Add something like "Punch-out Revolution" and I'll listen. :D

Yeah what the fuck is up with that Punch Out Revival Nintendo? You brought back Metroid with Gamecube I nominate Punch Out with Revolution and DS. Kid Icarus can stick to portables for all I care. Mac! Mac! Mac! Mac!

If Nintendo can have a new Mario, SSB, FFCC, Golden Sun, Metroid and new Miyamoto dev'd IP within 3 months of launch, they're going to do much better than GC did at launch.

Golden Sun could be a wildcard, methinks. If they don't try and do anything too wonky and give a fairly straightforward JRPG experience, having a title at launch like that would be HUGE in Japan, methinks. Then again, how did the Golden Sun GBA games sell in Japan? Hmm.

Where is Mario Adventure, WaveRace: Feel the Stream, Nights and Grasp? I thought that magazine list was real now that all the DS and GBA titles turned out to be real...

I haven't heard of some of these titles. Can you repost this list you're talking about?

If it was in the Game Informer, I don't recall seeing it. I can check again, but I doubt they're there.

I've seen a photo of the Game Informer list now, and it seems the original scan was doctored to include a bunch of Revolution stuff that wasn't in the mag. *sigh*
Nevermind.

Is this the place you guys are talking about? I didn't know this list was taken from a fake GI scan... awww...

But. Wave Race: Feel the Stream is just such a horrible title. :lol

What ever happened to that video people said they saw of a cel shaded cow fighting game? Was that all just a big joke (I'm guessing?) :lol

Considering this is all first-party releases, this is a great start.

And Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, while developed by Squaresoft/Square-Enix, was published by Nintendo.

I don't see how 360 or PS3 could top this. PDZero? Give me a break. :P

All Nintendo needs to do is to get games like Soul Calibur 3, Super Monkey Ball 3, and something from Capcom to get a really great launch. EA support is a given.

What happened to Factor 5's Pilot Wings Revolution, didn't NST take it over? Also, there's some possibility that Namco's new Mario Kart game might see upgraded Rev release instead of a GameCube port...

We should incorporate more 3rd parties here... Who confirmed that they were supporting the system? Namco? Bandai? Who else?

Didn't Shiggy hint in that IGN interview that they were working on a Kid Icarus sequel (Maybe it will be for DS instead)?

Well, he kinda joked about it.

Jeez, I can see myself buying every one of those titles listed assuming they are of the same quality as they have been this generation. Wow, that would make for quite the launch once you factor in the 3rd party support.

Hmm, I would be surprised if there any third party support of significance for Revolution at launch, if ever. Third parties have been twice burned by Nintendo now with the N64 and GameCube. Other than FF: CC I can't think of a single third party game that has been announced for Revolution so far.

Off the top of my head, both Sega and Lucasarts/Factor 5 were probably very happy they supported GC at launch -- Rogue Squadron II sold just behind Luigi's Mansion as the second best-selling game (and eventually sold almost a million copies in the U.S. alone IIRC) and Super Monkey Ball sold quite well, too.

I bet Sega has a launch game ready, Namco Bandai too probably. For the west, EA, Activision, THQ, UbiSoft, etc will probably have ports at the ready.

I thought they were headed in the right direction when it was announced that Revolution would play DVDs (you know, acknowledging that people like to do other things besides play games and all that), but then they said you'd need an optional attachment to do so, which pretty much killed it. There's always a catch with Nintendo, isn't there?

So did Xbox. Hardly a Nintendo problem.

What moves could lil mac have? Left punch, right punch and star punch?
What moves could Captian Falcon have? Turn left, turn right and spin attack? As a boxer, I'd think creating a set of attacks for him would be too difficult.

If they use Lil' Mac, I hope its the NES Mac and not the toad-faced SNES "Mac." I'd preffer green-wireframe-man to the SNES guy.

this is just 1st party titles.

and for as all the doom and gloom talks....nintendo im sure can get some...if not equal amount of 3rd party support to what they got at gamecubes launch. lets not forget...nintendo still has strong ties with konami, namco, sega, and capcom. its not like they will all abandon nintendo. 2ndly last yr at this point how developers had xbox kits? i think in comparison to sony they might be a lil behind but if u compare to where nintendo is right now in comparison to thier projected launch to xbox 360...they are on track.

but then again leave it to nintendo to fuck it up...so u never know.

Nah. Echoes multi was a "fun experiment". If Prime 3 has multi, it will be something brand new, not expanded on what Echoes offered.

I have to say, I totally disagree. The concepts were fresh and hella fun. If they could expand upon it, and bring it online I would play it for hours. I'm sick of the same ol tired DM anyway.
