Early Revolution Software List

Miyamoto said that the Revolution Mario game has changed so many times they are still unsure of how to go about it at this point. He said it may even be an extension to Sunshine and no longer "New Mario Bros" or "Mario 128"

Oh, and didn't Miyamoto also say that he couldn't ignore the fact that people wanted another Kid Icarus, and they were in planning stages?

He didnt go quite that far....or rather, its hard to tell when he's being series...

IGNcube: Will you make Kid Icarus for Revolution?

Shigeru Miyamoto: Well, I'm actually working really closely right now with the director of the [original] game. Now, whether or not when we get the Revolution all set up and everything is finalized, well who knows? That might be one of those characters where everybody says, "Hey, with the way our console is designed, that would be a perfect match." My question to you is, if we made this game would you buy it?

IGNcube: Absolutely.

Shigeru Miyamoto: Well, we obviously can't ignore that. Okay, we'll get the Eggplant Wizard coming back.

You fools! These games will be rehashes the same way Wario Ware Twisted is a rehash of Wario Ware. Probably less so. They're not going to leave 'revolutionary' features in the dust to crank out last year's gameplay. Foolish mortals.

Hmm, I would be surprised if there any third party support of significance for Revolution at launch, if ever. Third parties have been twice burned by Nintendo now with the N64 and GameCube. Other than FF: CC I can't think of a single third party game that has been announced for Revolution so far.

Capslock, simply because they haven't been announced yet, does not mean they do not exist. Square/Enix is far more behind them than you would think. Sega, Namco, Capcom, Konami, echoing Johnny Nighttrain statements, any japanese developer worth its salt. You may think Zoonami's upcoming titles are vaporware, then you would also be wrong.

What i'd like to see the downloadable content consist of:

With downloadable content made available on the Revolution, it'd be nice to see the releases of new inexpensive games made with SNES/N64+ production standards and distributed using Nintendo's network charging a nominal fee per download. Eliminating any manufacturing cost traditionally prohibiting the release of such niche games, it could be very profitable model.

Alas, tis only a pipe dream.

Kinda OT, but do you guys think it's possible that once nintendo has the internet store going they'll start offering revolution games? sort of like Steam. You'd need to buy a HDD of course....?

Also, I'm not familiar with steam but can somebody d/l the same game to multiple hard drives? I'm sure the answer is no but I'd like to know how does valve prevent this.

Wow. Looks like Nintendo intends to blow its load right out of the gate.

That'd be great actually. Nintendo isn't stupid and will spread out their games evenly. If most of those make it to the launch window, it means they're creating many more games. Though the same was said about gamecube (easy to develop for = more games, etc).

The more I think of it, the more I believe old downloadable nintendo games on Revolution will benefit from the new Revolution controls. As shown in wario ware twisted, gyro could be used to play Super Mario Bros moving the controller on the right in order to move forward. Remember the first time you picked a nes controller, that was your first reflex, it seemed natural that it should work this way. What do you think?

If finally moving the controller to the right ACTUALLY MADE MARIO JUMP FURTHER, I'd buy the Revolution in a heartbeat just for that.

I think it's a given.

And that's what has me worried. His name's Miyamoto, and there's this reward out for him from Nintendo. Has anyone seen him? If found, please return to the directing chair of a major Nintendo IP.

Might be a bit more likely that you can have them shipped to your house through nintendo.com or something. Don't think Nintendo's really a big fan of hard drives.

"We'll give you 512MB HDD, which is enough for many old games, BUT if you want a bigger HDD, there they are just buy them from us"

Maybe this will happen to negate Mem Cards and help them control software management

They need to resurrect Roll-a-Rama if they have a gyro controller. Spruced up graphics = perfect launch title.

Also they HAVE to have Pilotwings ready. And using a gyro controller a Donkey Kongo River Rapids racing game would be great. Use the gyro controller to immitate paddling.

Oh, Pilot wings!!

Imagine trying to control that hang-glider with a heavily vibrating gyro-controller (FF may be inpossible) where every twitch is fatal :D. Kinda like when you try to hold a powerball steady when its' fully loaded.

I was just kidding.

I have faith... :p

Ahhh...okay. I've never claimed to be close to any kind of insider though.

It wouldn't be anywhere near as much fun, then.

That somewhat depends on the interface don't you think DD? A full-fledged DK, huge sprawling jungle levels, enhanced visuals, multiple enemies & bosses (instead of basically the same ones recycled) double or triple the game length, etc. As long as the Tokyo R&D1 team is doing it, (DK:JB's devs) I'll be pleased. :)
