How many of you do this?
I have never been the type to eat my own boogers or anything (well not as an older specimen anyway), but I have other habits that I know to be kind of gross.
I bite the skin off my lips if they're chapped (sometimes to the point I make them sore), and I bite the inside of my cheeks all the time. I bite my nails. If there are no nails to bite I bite the skin around the nails. Now I've got some facial hair going, I've found myself trimming my moustache with my teeth too. It seems like a subconscious thing, a nervous thing... I was doing some combination of the above at the weekend, because I was at a party where some guy (who has learning difficulties and apparently works with racists) was being obnoxiously and publicly racist and threatening to start trouble. While trying to intervene and control the situation, I was failing hard and just wanted to leave... that could be a whole other topic really, the whole night was awful for me thanks to this one guy. Edit: I'd just like to clarify - thankfully, the crap he was spewing stayed out of earshot of anyone who might have also had their night ruined. If I do it when I'm
not nervous, I sometimes wonder if its anything to do with me skipping breakfast.
I don't like it and I'd like to stop, but by the time I realise I'm doing some of these things, I've already been doing them for several minutes.
Anyone know what causes this kind of behaviour - and if it has any kind of adverse affect? Apart from disgusting people I mean... I know that girls (or dudes) who chew their own hair can actually get hairballs for example:

Anyone ever managed to quit biting their nails for example?
