I've went to a few EB stores over the past month, and all the sales clerks said that if i preorder Twilight Princess i'd get the Wind Waker Remake.

Are these employees misinformed or are they shamelessly promoting unofficial freebies?

As I just said in another thread: and folks around here who work in game retail wonder why they are so hated.

I used to work in retail, and maybe I was just weird, but I took the time to:

A) do the homework and know what I was talking about
B) develop people skills which not only made me approachable, but made me a better sales person in the end
C) freely admitted that I didn't know about something and didn't have to resort to lies and tall tales.

And maybe I feel this way since I'm most familiar with them, but I've found that 90% of the clerks at EB and Gamestops to be the most obnoxious, rudest, laziest folks on earth. No offense to those around here who work in said places; I'll take you're word for it that you're not as bad as the rest. But this shit about salespeople being so ignorant is hardly surprising.

Like any job, there's a certain degree of responsibility, especially when you deal with the public. You can all laugh at that if you want, but it's the bottom line truth.

The fact that they're on GAF shows that they at least attempt to be informed. Rather than telling me about the Sega Playboxcube and how it will be able to play NES games, Genesis games, and flash fry a buffalo in 40 seconds.

I'll never forget when I was a kid and I caught a guy at the local Software Etc. telling a parent that bleemcast! could play all the PS2 games that weren't out yet.

I was enraged, called him a fucking liar, and left. I swore if I ever worked for any of these companies that I would be honest. Of course, it's not hard when you're informed.

The best recently was the kid who tried to tell me he played X360 at E3, two weeks before E3 took place. After I informed him of this, he hung his head in shame and left.

They are going on an April Fools article that was posted in EGM. Being game fans they should have known something was wrong with it, since its the only place that has ever been mentioned.

They're not always unreliable. I just got the Luigi Code from a guy that works at EB.
