:lol
It's capitalism - why not?

That should be illegal...
ManaByte said:So Fry's had Madden on sale for $36.99 today.
What did the EBGames down the street do?
Drove down the road and bought every single copy of Madden in the store to return to their store and sell for $49.99.
Fucking assholes.
Ninja Scooter said:i would imagine it would be against some company policy. Which higher up would authorize one store spending that much company $$$ just to have even more copies of a game that they probably had a ton of already to begin with.

see, while you idiots are worrying about EA being evil, you're buying your latest lameass little japanese RPG from the devil himself. Shame on you all.

Ninja Scooter said:it was probably some young, enterprising EB employees who decided "Hey, Fry's is gonna have madden for $36, and we're probably going to be getting a LOT of customers coming in for Madden today so..." In which case, its kinda smart, as the customers dont' know or care which copy they are getting, but their asses are probably fired.
ManaByte said:Again, no it is the district manager who orders it. The peons are usually too stupid to think of it.

ManaByte said:It is usually the district manager who TELLS the manager to do it. Back when I worked for EB 10 years ago, anytime a store would be selling a game for less than the price EB pays for it, the DM would call and have people go in waves to buy out the stock and return it to the store. The manager goes, then the assistant, then the peons, etc until the store selling it under cost is sold out the the local EB has a bunch of additional inventory they got cheaper than they would normally.
Oh, and the local Fry's still has GCN versions in stock. The EB only bought the PS2 and Xbox versions. Didn't check for the PC one.
Ninja Scooter said:wow. Somebody needs to kick that guys ass. I take it Fry's doesn't put a limit on the amount of copies one can buy?

Amused_To_Death said:Okay, one question, where's the money to buy these games coming from?
meelk said:Its not really a matter of "too stupid to think of it". Employees, even store managers dont know what EB's cost of purchase is for x game, and they have no funds aside from their own to make purchases with anyway, its simply a stupid thing to do unless you are told to do so by higher ups.

I think you need to read those warnings a little closer.distantmantra said:This is similar to the FBI warnings on DVD and video tapes and how they are not for resale by the purchaser, right?

GaimeGuy said:Wait, if this has happened so often, as posts in this thread have suggested, then why the hell hasn't anyone reported this to the BBB?
Lyte Edge said:It sucks what happened, but ALL the game stores do this. At my old store, Target used to be one of the main "distributors." Same with Comp USA.
One of the stores I worked at was literally right next door to a Target, and the owner would go and buy a bunch of their PS2s, Xbox systems, and in the case of the PSP, buy it for $250 and then mark it up to $280. Games that they had for $34-$40 would be marked up to $49.99 after we bought them.
I never liked that they did it, but I don't know what's illegal about this practice, since all this stuff is being bought for full price and within the limits of units per customer.
sangreal said:Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Capitalism at work.
Why would it be illegal? Is it it illegal for you to buy a game at EB and sell it on Ebay for more?
