He's like the most chill and inviting person in the game industry, he does interviews with everyone and is always friendly and laid-back.

But no! this motherfucker is doing ads and hyping reveals! what a scamming motherfucker!

"We don't have E3 and I don't like Geoff, so I'd rather have nothing!"

Kinda feels like that. They had several quality titles shown. Some meh, sure but even E3 was like that.

What is it you folks want, exactly? Megaton after Megaton? Not gonna happen.

I think Geoff did a good job as a presenter while walking a fine line between the hype he's helping sell and tempering realistic expectations. The funniest part, and it's not a dig, is seeing the relief on his face about finally being able to talk about something he's clearly been holding in like a weeklong shit ready to burst.

OP, I get that Highguard looks like shit, but you know that Geoff didn't make that game right?
Geoff has been in the "world premier" video game show business longer than anyone in his position to know you save the megaton for last.

But that slot money was too tasty.

I mean...right now this is the best place for game announcements. He's there to sell those games so what is he supposed to do? "Here's another mediocre shooter"?

Anyway...a show with another Control, 2 Tomb Raider games, Ace Combat, RE Requiem, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, Divinity had a kick ass trailer, Saros, new Mega Man game coming, Lego Batman looked interesting, Phantom Blade 0 had a good showing, etc etc is a good show to me. I can't think of a single better show about gaming that we had this year at least lol.

Did everyone forget that this is essentially exactly what E3 was?
What's the difference between the empty promises shown at E3 vs the TGA barring the addition of some awards?

Dude on paper, everything about this will look good to anybody.

New shooter from industry vets who made nothing but hits, going indie to do their own passion project.

You also have the good optics of closing the show with a indie game over something from a big publisher.

The wrench in the whole thing was that their indie project turned out to be a slop hero shooter.

What do you expect Geoff to do about that?

He needs to actually curate that big final reveal instead of letting whoever paid the most get it, because that game absolutely in no way deserved that slot. Horrible choice to put there and just deflate the entire room right before the biggest award gets handed out.

Like if anything should've been in that spot it should've been either Divinity of Old Republic. Something that's actually hype.

Show it first.

Your mistake was to still watch the show instead of just watching the trailers the day after.

Never expect anything from dorito.

Respect the hustle. He's carved his way into being gaming royalty and the *it" event as far as the medium goes.

Pretty wild, I mentioned this in another forum post and someone wrote this long response about how Geoff doesn't oversell anything. Fortunately, I didn't read it.

Geoff's a businessman first and foremost.

Having stated that, I wasn't too disappointed with the announcements and was pretty stoked for everything announced despite some of them being a ways off.

I always get a kick out of people that get so pissy about Geoff. Clearly sour grapes, as I'm sure they'd love to be up on stage raving (and overselling) about games instead of in threads on gaf worrying about Lara Croft's tit size.

He is really good at what he does and I am not sure there are many in the industry that can do it better. Especially any willing to put their own money on the line. If someone doesn't like it, I would suggest they not watch the show. It would save them time, reduce viewership and reduce the number of whiney posts about it. It's a win-win-win.

What OP expects:

"This upcoming game is obviously low budget but some of you might like it. Here is a low quality gameplay trailer made by the backyard devs that live in their mothers' basements."

me and others were were in our rooms watching, but were the audience there really held captive for 4 hours? no food and no drinks?

at least the movie awards, they're all at tables with food and stuff. He makes enough money off the ads. to give them some crackers.

I seriously wonder what his mom was thinking about watching that divinity trailer… and then whack ass high guard aka concord 2.

Maybe Jason mamoa got blasted and hit them cheeks.
