EBGames Head office has people smart enough to check boards like this for their employees? LMAO There isn't a brain in that goddamned office, I'm really surprised that happened dude.

This is terrible news. I haven't been into work in a week or so, so I haven't seen this list of changes for myself. I suppose it was all expected; merger means practically zero competition (at least in the pre-owned department). Oh well. I've done my four years. $8/h with no commission and a horrible 15% discount ain't gonna cut it anymore, I already have two better jobs waiting for me. If all this shit sticks for more than just the Christmas period, I'm done.

I honestly believe this is what they want.

They've got employees of 2+ years working at $8+ an hour, with the corporate brainwashing that the EB corporation drove into us - so now they're pissing off current employees because we're losing all our benefits / reasons to work there that we're used to.

So what will this do? either those employees will quit, or they'll find ways to write up / fire current employees (see: 50% district tradein goal, and if any store doesnt meet that, they get written up, so in 3 months, bye bye all employees if you dont get yer act together -- this is actually happening.), and then re-hire an entire new batch of employees with the gamestop mantra, and they'll think that the no benefit, no discount is the 'norm' and they'll have no issues with complaints from older employees. and everyone would start out at minimum wage, so they're saving tons of money in the long run.

The worst part is that it was the old Gaming Enthusiast Online board (seven years ago), which was just a fraction of the size (although we all actually played games, which is a novel concept). I think it was more a matter of someone at the board who had a problem with me turned me in.

Wow, so Futureshop started carrying games like the re-released Disgaea, Makai Kingdom, Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2?

That's the one problem I have with the store chain, the ones around me don't carry any of the niche stuff Ireally want. The same is true of the local TRU's, and any other store that sells games for that matter, it's one of the few reasons I still shop at EB occassionally.

I've always preferred the street stores myself, regardless of how shady they look (Game Centre on Yonge near Bloor is a CLASSIC example...any Toronto gamer knows the one I mean). And you get a lot more back on the trade ins. Don't need no stinkin' ID either.

Its still hard to believe for me that many people seem to think we shouldn't ask your ids when you bring back stuff. I mean, they are just respecting the freaking law.
If the police comes into the store checking our stock, they can ask for all our papers and if we don't have your god damned ids, our stock is automatically considered "stolen".

That's where I buy all my games. I've spent thousands there. .....They always get games in first, and they always sell for the lowest price. It's a no-brainer. I pity people who live in cities that don't have great indie stores like these.

That's got nothing to do with how I feel about it, because I understand why it's done. But again, it should be written down somewhere...almost any decent store has their policy typed up or posted in a place where consumers can see it. Hell, I think even shady Game Centre has something written down.

Well, i don't know where you are right now but here in Quebec it's a law and they are pretty tight about it. I've seen many street store that got closed by the police here and even the pawn shop around here are (at least in look) full legit.
I agree that store could right their store policies of anyway give the best info as possible for their customers. But regarding the law, the law of the province of Quebec, they don't have to right it down for you. There's also a law that says "you have to know the laws". (i guess this one is pretty common)
