This is terrible news. I haven't been into work in a week or so, so I haven't seen this list of changes for myself. I suppose it was all expected; merger means practically zero competition (at least in the pre-owned department). Oh well. I've done my four years. $8/h with no commission and a horrible 15% discount ain't gonna cut it anymore, I already have two better jobs waiting for me. If all this shit sticks for more than just the Christmas period, I'm done.
I honestly believe this is what they want.
They've got employees of 2+ years working at $8+ an hour, with the corporate brainwashing that the EB corporation drove into us - so now they're pissing off current employees because we're losing all our benefits / reasons to work there that we're used to.
So what will this do? either those employees will quit, or they'll find ways to write up / fire current employees (see: 50% district tradein goal, and if any store doesnt meet that, they get written up, so in 3 months, bye bye all employees if you dont get yer act together -- this is actually happening.), and then re-hire an entire new batch of employees with the gamestop mantra, and they'll think that the no benefit, no discount is the 'norm' and they'll have no issues with complaints from older employees. and everyone would start out at minimum wage, so they're saving tons of money in the long run.
Stupid merger.
