Echoes of the End extended gameplay trailer

I remember this one from the Future Games Show back in June I think it was? It looked kinda interesting there. But now with way more gameplay shown I have my doubts. Seems a bit generic and the protagonist, I don't know, obviously it's way to early to really say but based on this footage I don't find her very likeable. Maybe it's the voice acting? We'll see.

Could be something to pick up later down the line, even though it's already a lower priced game at launch on August 12.

Enemy design is cool but she's the classic boss girl without any cool feature. The similarity to GOW at some points is too blatant, but the troll at the end of the video looks good.

Animations put me off, though. It's as if they were moving in low gravity.

I watched a bit more. The game is fucking hideous and the MC, unbearable. That kind of unbearable that we all know by now. It will be an entertaining CCU daily check.

We've got God of War at home.

The asset quality seems high but the animations looks really bad, that boss battle at the beginning in particular looked janky as fuck.

Anyone remember Immortals of Aveum? It was like the embodiment of a Netflix show in the shell of a decently fun video game.

That's what this Echoes game looks like. Immortals was a fun buy-in when it hit that deep sale at 4.99.

I'll be looking forward to this one on doing the same.

Yeah, not likeable in any way. Just annoying. I don't mind a bossy chick as game lead, but don't be annoying, you can still be likeable, bad ass, but alas, doesn't seem that way.

Yeah, and like it will get boring soon too.

Looks ok for a b-tier hack and slasher.

Needs major work into things like the character turning and feet sliding everywhere. Like she's on ice floating.

Animation looks very off, and there is little weight behind the blows (excpet maybe with the troll stomping).
When the first boss throws rocks at the protag, they look extremely out of place.
They need someone who knows to ground charatcers and things asap.

Tell me is Unreal Engine 5 without telling me is Unreal Engine 5:

(well, I don't know which engine they are using, but I'd be really surprised if I'm wrong since looks "UE5 The Game")

Thats exactly what this reminded me of, a shitty Netflix show.

It's got that eww factor.

Looks cheap, crap girl boss voice acting from the lead that doesnt flow well and, well, it's just a Netflix game/show 🤷‍♂️

This is one of those instances where the graphics are clearly triple A quality but then you pay attention to things like voice acting or how the animations look in and out of combat and you realize its very much a budget creation.

It's soooooooo slow....
Good news:

From the devs:

"We've received a lot of incredible feedback from the gameplay trailer we posted less than two weeks ago, and what a thrill it's been to see the response! We want to thank you all for watching and taking the time to comment, and to show you that we're taking your feedback seriously as we polish our way to release.

Many of you wanted to see combat feel faster and more fluid, and we've been hard at work making that happen. We're excited to share this look at some of the updates we've been doing to combat animations and we'll make sure to keep refining and listening to your feedback right up until launch on August 12th!"

Looks good to me. Especially at the price. I liked Banishers and this looks just as good if not, better.

Just saw this releasing on Steam tomorrow and it looks alright.

I wonder what they will price it at.

It's an improvement but needs more hit impact, it's like she's slicing through air even though she just sliced through a dude's leg. Animations need a lot of work still. Not hyped.

Ugly mug black female protagonist huh?

That's a bold strategy. I bet this game will be a hit like the others.

$36 on Steam and I hear good things about the combat and I love the aesthetic so it was an easy buy. Going to bed. It's installing and I won't have impressions until very late tonight but I am excited.

Crazy stutters and fps anywhere from 60-100+ fps ultra settings with DLSS Quality but with that said; I'm enjoying it so far but it doesn't run great…

5090/9800x3d etc

Gameplay confirmed what I worried about, that it's coasting off high-detail assets, and anything related to gameplay or animation would be a let-down.

Combat looks clunky, slow animations with weak hit feedback that looks like your blade is slicing air like Skyrim. Throw in wonky collision from enemies, and animations just make characters look like they're floating in multiple instances.

Main character isn't as cringe as the one from Unknown 9: Awakening, but she's still boring...as is every other character.

Booted it up. Graphics are very nice. Controls are good, thank god for sprint on left stick click instead of what Wu Chang did. There is also a jump button. Some Uncharted like traversal, a jankier version but still unexpected. I like the combat. It feels impactful. One press of the dodge is a dash like Bloodborne, pressing it twice is a dodge roll. I guess that setup is more like God of War. Some traversal "puzzles" requiring you to use your telekinesis is cool.

Throwing an enemy toward my brother(who is my current companion) set up a nice combo, you can also slam them to the ground or throw them in any direction you want. Very fun to me. Definitely feels like Souls but without the limitations of stamina but I also currently have no way to heal, so it's balanced.

After playing some more, it feels most like the newer God of War games but without the too close camera. No shield so far, but pressing block at the last second is a parry which feels good.

There is a proper souls like challenge on the hardest difficulty for anyone who wants that. You have to use everything to come out on top. From using the force to knock enemies together for a stun, taking advantage of i-frames, and parrying attacks. I love the monster design. First proper boss(a couple of mini boss fights beforehand) bested and I got my first skill tree point. The tutorial is long. This is a very good Indy title. It's like a fun Euro jank with way less jank than something like Greedfall.

Nah, it feels really good. I hate Skyrim combat, this is way better.

I'd bet a million bucks that she's a hundred times more attractive than you, as you sit behind your keyboard in your racist, misogynistic, creepy little world of self-loathing and inadequacy.

Game looks too slow, clunky and missing the weight of combat.
Poor voice acting also, I like the look of the main character but the game screams "mediocre" sadly.
