I think she's "normal" which doesn't help sales. But everything from this game screams "for modern audience", so I doubt a more attractive character would have helped (see the Forspoken).

The MC looks fine, but it's this annoying angry expression and the even more annoying lines that ruin it all. These amateur writters (I'm too generous by calling them that) don't even know what a relatable character looks like.

What's crazy is I went into mafia expecting an order 1886 game. Short, focused, cool story with a twist or two, and good gameplay. Amazing visuals helped for both.
My issue was the story was predictable from chapter 3 onward, and the gameplay was the weakest cover shooter offering of my life.
Wanted to like it more but was just glad to be done with it in the end.
Hopefully this Echoes can be my Babylons fall of 2025. Everyone hated it but I had a blast.

That actually sounds like a rather good time. Combat looks fine to me, I mean I was able to cope, even enjoy Piranha Bytes combat in games such as Risen, Risen Dark Waters, Gothic etc, so I for sure can cope with this. Hell, the Gothic Remake demo has combat that isn't exactly great, but I will be getting that game.
I'm not gonna get this game right now, but I can see myself playing it eventually.

I have been reading some steam reviews. It seems like the game has good gameplay with platforming and puzzles, but it needs optimization/performance patches.
I don't see anything offensive or egregious like some here are implying, but I also don't see much praise about it's writing either
Again I'm fully expecting this to be another Immortals of Aveum, which also means a deep sale after 6 months. Technically I think of that Immortals game as underrated because they pretty much made a decently good Metroid Prime game and no one cared.

Yeah, I seem to have gotten lucky. I had some stutters at the very beginning and now nothing at all. I am really enjoying it but my biggest hang up is so far(just started act 2) there is no loot(using the same weapon/armor from the beginning) besides some items that tell the back story that you can find hidden in the world.

The point was that you said that the character who is modelled and acted by Aldís Amah Hamilton is "black and ugly".
The game will bomb because it's not very good, if it was based on a Sydney Sweeney clone it wouldn't make any difference, there is a million games like this one on the market nowadays and only the best ones will succeed.

Glad their game actually came out....sad it doesnt seem to be doing well.

This is one of those games that looks both surprisingly good and all around generic and lame at the same time, like Immortals of Aveum, Flintlocks and Forspokens of the world. Not surprised it is bombing. But it might be decent for a play when its hits gamepass or something. I did finish Aveum and it was decent 6/10 thing.

Making a game of the scale of GOW takes much more money and talent, great landscapes aren't enough.

17 hours in, Chapter 3. Idk how many the game has. The hardest difficulty is tougher than souls games but without the enemy sponginess of God of Wars stupid hard difficulty. Enemies do not wait their turn and only 1 out of 5 will attack your companion. Really challenging but super satisfying. I think anyone who gives it a chance will enjoy it. For people who have stuttering issues, there is a fix coming today.
