I find it best to ignore Edge's scores. Read the reviews themselves, but don't worry about the scores. They contradict their own review criteria so often that I've lost count.

That's actually a pretty good score. The platforming is lots of fun, but the actual racing feels a bit disjoint thanks to the lack of any physical hitting other players. I can sort of understand during, say, one player, but the online multi would be so much better if you could boot other players off the course

Not bad! there was a fair bit of pessimism around this game. Good to see a favourable score.

Edge is harsh. And by that I mean they don't give out 9's and 10's that much. I don't know if they are actually 'good' reviewers.

Haunting Ground must be pretty solid if it got a 7, especially since GT4, DMC3, and GoW all got 8's from Edge.

But most poeple here when they see a 7 or an 8 from Edge expect mostly 8-10's from other places.

Having said that a 9 and 10 from Edge is a rare thing. It happens, and it's not really "rare" now that I htink about it, but I can't think of a recent game off-hand so...

Most recently, Halo 2 and GTA: San Andreas both scored 9's in the same issue, IIRC. And not long before that, Half-Life 2 got a 10.

This is a very old story, EDGE gave it an 8 but it got pulblished as a 6 in the next issue they did they explained the mistake. Believe or not. Fact is EDGE does reviews like countless other publications, if you like the mag and read it regually you will understand there reviews policy. If you don't you can argue the toss about them here.

Well I predicted an 8 for GOW: http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?t=40478 . Not that I've played it yet mind, not out here yet, but from all the comments and reviews sounded like an Edge 8/10 game. And for thosen who think that's a disapointment one of Edge's most prized ever games, and one they seem to reference every other issue, is Ico - which also scored 8/10.

Personally I think the 8 is a good score, a very good game, just not great. It's not that different from other action adventures, it reminds me of prince of persia: sot (haven't played warrior withing for more than 5 minutes because of a bug) meets ninja gaiden.

Very good game, but a bit easy and not that original.

I agree with all of the scores, except for Ape Escape's, which shoule be a point or two lower.

... and it has to be said that the 8 for Wipeout Pure is contingent upon the DLC being as good as the included tracks.
