Couldn't disagree more.

That doesn't sound much like the EDGE of old to me, HL2 gets the 'innovation' award? Huh?

I like the game, in fact it's my GOTY, but I just don't see where the innovation is frankly.

Remember this is for Hardware and Software they've used and reviewed. So stuff like PSP MGS3 won't be included. So where couldn't you disagree more, seems pretty reasonable to me?

Cos' when they can review Zelda 4 swords US version they could also review mgs3 US version.
Cos Zelda 4 swords hasn't been released in PAL territories.
DS is not released in Europe either. So this award stuff is just bull-shit.

They would have review MGS3 and the PSP if they could have got there hands on either prior to going to press, its that simple.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying :|

DS and MGS3 were both released in US November.
I think the DS is harder to get than MGS3, which bombed to some people, so it wasn't sold out. And they are running a game magazine, how hard can it be to get a review copy?

Maybe they did play the game but didn't like it enough to place it on the list?

Maybe it was featured one issue later than the 12 issues covered by the awards.

Awards for the year 2004 not featuring triple A games released within 2004.
That's why i disagree with this bull-shit awards.
What about Metroid Prime Echos, released for a whole month in Europe.
The Gamespot list was more complete.

I'm wondering why the developer of the "Best Game" isn't even a nominee in the "Best Developer" category. I'll also join the crowd and say I'm pretty puzzled by the "Innovation" award for Half-Life 2.

The physics engine.

I don't think it's fair to compare pc games and console games on the same scale so late into the generation. It's like comparing ps2 and ps1 games directly.

Why because they offer more options?

I'm all for placing Four Swords above Halo 2. Then again if I had my way Halo 2 wouldn't have even made the list at all.

And no mention of UT2004 whatsoever?

Hah, both of their 'runner-ups' were more innovative then the game they actually choose. Yes, the physics engine in HL2 is great, but is strikes me as more natural evolution than sheer innovation...

Has anyone tried the Gametrak? It's pretty damn cool, beats the hell out of Eyetoy because it lets you control your movements in 3d...shame there aren't many games behind it....1, at the moment, more next year.

Cheesy (oh so cheesy) introduction video:

That looks pretty neat... Is it ever coming Stateside?

If this thing works as well as it seems to, I guess Nintendo will need something besides gyroscopes to be Revolutionary.

Good list, but no UT2004 love. Seriously people, the game friggin owns online. Stat tracking is better then Halo 2, aswell.

Good lord this list is boring, not to mention the results of the developers category, which are downright suspicious and stupid.

good gosh that whole list is completely FUCKED. - respect Edge uncountable

the 4 swords even on any list of best of anything is a complete sham.

did they let the fucking janitors make this list?

What?

Yeah - What What? There was no new DOA Beach Volleyball this year to put on the runners-up list...

And...

Best Game, Award for Innovation, Best Visual Design: 1. Half-Life 2 (PC) != Best Developer

OK, we get it.

Somehow I was reading that thinking Best Developer would probably also have a title win an award.... seemed kinda logical to me... if you're gonna win Best Developer than it's probably because you developed an award winning title.... but unless my vision is going I see no winning Rockstar North titles....

4 Swords deserves all the praise it gets. I've never had so much fun yelling and sassin' in multiplayer before. This game will forever stand the test of time.

Not a big fan of Edge, but this end of the year list is a lot more interesting than Gamespot's or IGN's nominations.
