So uhh, did EA make everyone sell out for Black?!

I'm gonna guess it's the music and that they only made 32 new levels.

I heard a track that was put forward for the Lemmings soundtrack. It was an utterly inspired combination of rock guitar and lemming chorus, and was a rendition of one of the original tracks. That should have been the soundtrack for Lemmings PSP. And allegedly nearly was - the music guy loved it but was overruled by his boss. :(

In one of the editorials/columns a few months back, one freelancer raged an entire page about how the hell they allowed people to pause the game and still assign tasks to the Lemmings, which would ruin the whole difficulty of the game. And I have to say: agreed. It's still your own choice, but if you have the option to do it, you'll do it anyway at some point.

Nahh, the game is great and Edge are bigger than to complain about lack of multiplayer and length. That's not usually what they complain about, lack of innovation is usually what marks something down in Edge.

Marc Ecko's Getting Up (Xbox/PS2, Atari): 4

lol...can't breath...laughing too much :lol

It's funny because Edge gave this game loads of coverage - interviews, exclusive previews etc - and Marc Ecko was going on about how it's going to be the best game ever, it's gonna change gaming forever and so on and Edge were going on and on about how it's going to redefine games...and then it gets a 4 :lol

It seems a silly thing to complain about. The game was designed around the limitations of the PSP's controls. There has to be a compromise at some point simply because of the increased difficulty it imposes. They have to keep the game accessible to all ages, and some of those latter levels were difficult as enough with a mouse.

What's the beef with the game's music?

Oh I'm only guessing. I mean the music is integral to Lemmings, and it's the sort of thing to put you off the game completely if it's not done right. They may have just overly criticised it for the fact it's a repackaged 15 year old game being sold at full price.

The cover is brilliant - again. Edge really shines in making their own mag covers, not using art from publishers.

The image of the DS and the screenshots was probably supplied by Nintendo, yeah?

But it's not just simply printing that picture like other magazines could have done; it's adding the rest of the art.

I know what you're trying to say.

Most magazines now are just PLACE CG ARTWORK PROVIDED BY COMPANY HERE.

I miss PSM back in the days where they got comic book artists to do their cover monthly. Now they just use company-provided artwork like everyone else.

It got one feature nearly a year ago, and one hands-on preview page since, both expressing doubt that it would live up to either its potential or Ecko's mouth.

That said, I don't think anyone could predict how joyless the graffiti mechanic would end up being.

Am I crazy or was "24" already reviewed in Edge once, and got 8? O_o

I sort of remember everyone being relatively surprised that it scored that high. Or was that some other magazine?

OPM UK gave it 8/10, maybe that's the publication you're thinking of?

Bomba.

Well, it just cements it as a bonafide rental. Rent it from Blockbuster with no more late fees, then buy it when it hits the bargain bin.

Edge seems to be really pro nintendo these days, quite strange since they absolutely bag them (and rightfully so) for Nintendos treatment of Europe.

Jaw dropped at the Getting Up score, I've still got my eye on it but that's about what I was expecting to happen

And Mmmkay, your moneyhat conspiracy comments are getting a little old, friend

I am fully of the belief that EA can pay every magazine available, just to give this game a good score!!

I was kidding in the first place. It's just what all the cool people are saying.

To be fair... Edge does have a sweet spot for games created by Criterion and bizzare creations.
