I doubt that it will stay faithful to the source material, but at least she will play a great game.

That should be obligatory, tho. How could you not care enough about your job to the point where you wouldnt even play the game its based on?

That's so basic, imo.

Good, but knowing the source material doesnt change shit. See The Witcher as the perfect example. Hopefully, they don't ruin it.
Fallout was a surprise in that aspect, you're made to think it's diverting away from the source but it turns out it was a bluff on the main character and the games events happened as they also ended off with a tease of New Vegas.

One of the best game to TV series ever.
That's setting the baw awfully low

The writing is really horrible, sadly. I'm not even too familiar with the games so it's not like they rubbed me the wrong way in regard to some lore or something. It gets worse and worse until we reach a finale that is honestly among the dumbest things I've ever watched, and I don't remotely mean this in a good way. This is genuinely some 3/10 shit (obvl there are some parts that don't suck).

Only saving grace is the Ghoul from The Shield. Visually it's a great show though, yes.

Ironically it gets closer and closer to the games lore as it goes on 😂
Retconning 3 new vaults in LA, who dropped the first nukes and now there's a serum that keeps ghouls from going feral? Shady Sands location moved. No one in NV game knows or comments about the "fall" of Shady Sands? It's not moving closer to the games lore.

They've been retconning vaults since Fallout 4 so they can work stories around them, the tri-vault plan was integral to set up why these were unknown and initially disconnected.

and now there's a serum that keeps ghouls from going feral?
The spread out of the experiment vials have always suggested unique serums and mutations, that's how each game can tend to have at least one new fucked up mutation.

Shady Sands location moved.
This was done in Fallout 2.

Considering timeline wise the TV show takes place AFTER New Vegas and Shady Sands nuke plan was done two years after the events of New Vegas.

Never played the games and I'm 2 episodes in the show. It seems entertaining and well done.

This is a 100% imparcial opinion. I have no reference to compare the lore to, I don't care about Todd Howard nor anyone else at his company so...

That's great...at least the Director didn't tell her to no play the game like the one from the Yakuza TV Show told the actors.

Who cares, she isnt in charge of writing, directing, sets, makeup,fx etc etc. Its all the talentless dickheads who did all those things for season 1 who should play New Vegas, hell they should play Fallout 1 and 2 as well. Maybe then they will 'get' Fallout and move away from Bethesdas poor interpretation of it…

Nerds are insufferable

One of the best game to TV series ever. Still complaining probably for the most stupid of details.
It really was, and besides trying to make us believe a trans boy weighing 95 pounds would be able to hang with soldiers in mech suits, it was woke free.

New Vegas 2281, 'Fall of Shady Sands' 2277 according to the show. Sorry but jog on with that nonsense. Show literally has Shady Sands being nuked BEFORE the events of New Vegas. Just look at the damn chalkboard.
Maximus also confirms this retcon when he says the nuke dropped '20 years ago'..
And of course, Lucy is told her mum died during the famine of 2277 BUT she was in fact turned into a Ghoul by the nuke.
Tired of all you show fanboys ignoring the poor writing and retcons, all the evidence is there in the very show. It retcons NV and a lot of the lore. End of dicussion.

Not everyone likes playing games.
She'll get the same lore benefit from watching someone play the game, anyway.

Hopefully you're aware enough to know that this is an unpopular opinion and the consensus is that it's an excellent show.

So she will understand how much Bethesda, Amazon, Todd Howard and Nolan butchered Fallout lore and will probably leave the series.

No serious person cares, and given the reception to the show, I'd say they definitely did the right thing.

Have they? I've read about items that appear where they shouldn't but nothing on vaults that shouldn't be there.

How does that explain no ghoul knowing or wanting the serum in the previous games?

It was moved but still located in the area between vault 13 and 15. In the show it's a completely different location.

In the show it's shown it fell in 2277 while NV takes place in 2281. Such an important place falling wouldn't go unnoticed by the NCR.

Not to defend this slop of a show too much but the picture can also be read as the nuke dropping sometime after 2277. But yeah, that Maximus line makes it incongruent with what Todd has said about the nukes happening after NV ...👀

Yeah the nuke image is deliberately vague on a board that is otherwise dated and precise. But yeah everything else says the bomb dropped pre NV.
Todd can suck the fattest log though, if there was no issue whatsoever with the board, with the retcons etc and fans were full of shit, he wouldn't even entertain a interview about this very issue.
Theres other things in show to suggest the nuke dropped in 77 as well such as the library cards ending that year.

Going off the show the tri-vaults were kept cut off from the rest as their experiment was to raise a society through control, it's plausible that knowledge of these vaults was kept quiet to the rest too in the same way these were told they're the only ones.

How does that explain no ghoul knowing or wanting the serum in the previous games?
Yeah I'd say this one is a bit of an oversight, it could be implied that one doctor in the show was the pushing it these days but considering the bandits and brotherhood also knew of it, you got a cross talk.

It was moved but still located in the area between vault 13 and 15. In the show it's a completely different location.
It's been like 16 years since I've last played Fallout 2 but wasn't the location shifted much further south in that game?

See this board is from the teachings inside the vaults, which were proven by the end of the series to have been lying and twisting the truth on things, according to the end of the show it actually happened in 2283. New Vegas takes place in 2281.

Edit: yeah just ran through a clip of the last episode, that's why I was asking people if they watched til the end, Hank and the vault overseers lied about it, they said her mom died in 2277, they said it was when the blast happened, but he was lying to make sure she never asked questions about it, which is why they kept focusing on her flashbacks as a kid since those happened AFTER the time period her mom was supposed to be dead and when the nuke destroyed Shandy Sands. That was the "twist" to the viewer too, it made us think it wasn't following game continuity and then pulled a "ok we lied about it so you wouldn't know" card and then revealed the events happened in a time frame that works.
